Check the exact notice in YouTube Studio: an eligible warning may offer optional policy training, while a live-stream restriction associated with a strike can prevent streaming for 14 days. Your account notice—not the word “warning” alone—is the best guide to your status and any end date.
First, check whether live streaming is actually restricted
- Open the email YouTube sent about the enforcement action and note whether it says warning, strike, or live-streaming restriction.
- In YouTube Studio, review the Channel violations card and your account status. YouTube’s live-stream guidance also recommends checking whether live-stream access is available.
- Follow the instructions and timing shown in your account notice. A general help page cannot establish why your channel lost access or when a specific restriction will end.
If Studio shows a warning but no live-stream restriction, do not assume you are banned from going live. YouTube says a strike on an active or archived live stream may disable live-stream access, even though creators with a Community Guidelines strike generally retain access to most other YouTube features and programs. YouTube’s live-stream restriction guidance and account-standing guidance describe these distinctions.

Warning vs. strike: what each one means
| Status | What YouTube says | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Warning | A first violation is typically a warning. Some warnings offer optional policy-specific training; not every warning is eligible. | Read the named policy and check the notice for a training option. Do not infer that a warning by itself disables live streaming. |
| Warning with eligible training completed | If training is available and completed, the warning expires after 90 days counted from completion. A violation of the same policy during that period may prevent expiry and result in a strike. | Keep the training completion date and follow the policy identified in the notice. The 90-day period does not start on the warning’s issue date. |
| First strike | YouTube’s strike overview describes a one-week restriction on posting, including live streams. | Check the strike notice and Studio for the restriction affecting your account. |
| Second strike within the same 90-day period | YouTube’s strike overview describes a two-week restriction on posting. | Use the dates and instructions in the account notice; do not treat this general posting penalty as a universal live-stream restoration date. |
| Live-stream restriction tied to a strike | YouTube’s live-stream guidance says this restriction prevents live streaming for 14 days. | Follow the notice and recheck Studio after the stated period. |
These are different policy consequences, not interchangeable countdowns. YouTube does not publish one restoration timeline that applies to every warning or account notice. See YouTube’s Community Guidelines strike basics and live-streaming guidance.

Possibly. A warning alone does not prove that live streaming is disabled. Verify access in Studio and read the notice. If the notice identifies a live-stream restriction, use its duration and instructions; if it only identifies a warning, check whether policy training is offered and whether Studio shows streaming access as available.

- Crisp HD 720p/30 fps video calls with diagonal 55° field of view and auto light correction. Compatible with popular platforms including Skype and Zoom.
- The built-in noise-reducing mic makes sure your voice comes across clearly up to 1.5 meters away, even if you’re in busy surroundings.

Training is optional when offered, and availability depends on the warning. YouTube says a completed training period can lead to a warning expiring after 90 days, provided the relevant conditions are met. A repeat violation of the same policy during that period may instead lead to a strike. A later violation of a different policy may result in another warning.
How long am I banned from live streaming on YouTube?
YouTube’s general live-stream help says a live-stream restriction associated with a strike lasts 14 days. Separately, YouTube’s strike overview describes a one-week posting restriction for a first strike and a two-week posting restriction for a second strike within the same 90-day period. Because the consequences and notices differ, use the duration and end date shown for your channel in Studio rather than calculating one from a generic warning label.

How to appeal a warning or strike
- In YouTube Studio, open the Dashboard and find the Channel violations card.
- Select the warning or strike and choose the appeal option, then explain clearly why you believe the decision is mistaken and provide relevant context.
- Submit the appeal within six months of the warning or strike being issued. YouTube allows one appeal per strike.
Do not delete the video before deciding whether to appeal: deleting it does not clear the strike and may remove your opportunity to appeal. YouTube’s current instructions are on its appeal a Community Guidelines strike or video removal page.
What not to do while access is restricted
Do not try to get around an active restriction by streaming through another channel. YouTube states: “If your account has been restricted from live streaming, you’re prohibited from using another channel to live stream on YouTube.” YouTube treats circumvention as a Terms of Service violation that may result in channel termination. Wait for the restriction to end, then check Studio again. YouTube’s live-stream help explains the rule.

Troubleshooting: why can’t I go live?
- Studio shows a warning, but no restriction: A warning does not by itself confirm a live-stream ban. Review the notice, check live-stream access in Studio, and see whether the warning offers policy training.
- The notice says live streaming is restricted: Follow the account-specific instructions and duration. YouTube’s general guidance describes a 14-day live-stream restriction associated with a strike, but your notice is decisive for your case.
- You can use other YouTube features but cannot stream: This can happen because a live-stream restriction may disable streaming while most other features remain available to an account with a strike.
- You believe the warning or strike is wrong: Appeal through Studio’s Channel violations card within six months of issuance. You may appeal each strike once.
- You are considering another channel: Do not use it to bypass the restriction; YouTube prohibits that and warns of possible channel termination.
Or let it run in the cloud
