Select the intended eligible destination and save. If the saved destination is already correct and YouTube confirmed the redirect, the public guidance available does not document a specific fix for a redirect that nevertheless lands viewers elsewhere.
Check the redirect on the stream viewers are leaving
- Open YouTube Studio → Content → Live.
- Edit the source live stream or Premiere—the one that is ending and sending viewers away.
- Open Customization and find Redirect.
- Inspect the selected destination. If it is not the stream or Premiere you intend to send viewers to, choose the correct eligible destination and save the change.
Live Redirect is configured on the originating stream, not by changing the encoder or stream key. YouTube Help says that when the source ends, autoplay moves viewers to the selected Premiere or live stream.

If the intended destination is on another channel
The receiving channel must allow your channel to redirect viewers to its content. YouTube Help describes permission choices that can include channels the recipient subscribes to, all channels, or a manually approved list. The subscriptions option depends on the recipient keeping its subscriptions public. Ask the recipient channel to check its redirect permissions in YouTube Studio if the destination is missing or cannot be selected.
TeamYouTube’s May 3, 2022 announcement describes the destination picker as showing eligible streams when the receiving channel has allowed redirects. For a cross-channel destination, confirm both that permission is in place and that the target meets the availability requirements below.

Confirm the target is eligible and available
- Sender eligibility: YouTube Help says the creator sending a redirect must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
- Target availability: TeamYouTube’s announcement says the target should be live or upcoming, or an upcoming Premiere. An unavailable or ineligible target may not appear in the selection flow.
- Recipient permission: For a different channel’s content, that channel must permit redirects from yours.
These are separate checks: meeting the sender threshold does not grant permission to redirect to another channel, and recipient permission does not make an unavailable target selectable.
Allow a few seconds for the transition
YouTube advises viewers to wait a few seconds after the source stream ends while their screen reloads. A brief delay alone does not mean the wrong destination was configured. If viewers still arrive at a different stream after that transition, recheck the saved selection and permissions.

If the selected destination was correct but viewers went elsewhere
If the redirect was confirmed and the saved destination is right, the public YouTube guidance cited here does not describe a dedicated recovery procedure for confirmed misrouting. Avoid changing encoder settings or replacing the stream key as a speculative fix: YouTube’s encoder troubleshooting guidance concerns stream-ingestion problems, not destination selection for Live Redirect.

When reporting the problem to YouTube, provide the source stream, intended target, actual destination, whether it was a cross-channel redirect, the recipient’s permission setting, whether the target was live or upcoming (or an upcoming Premiere), and whether YouTube showed the end-of-stream redirect confirmation. These details describe what happened without assuming a cause.
