In YouTube Studio, open the scheduled stream’s Customization settings, add a Premiere or an eligible channel’s live stream under Redirect, and save. YouTube sends viewers to that destination only after your source stream ends.
Schedule the source stream
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create > Go Live to open Live Control Room.
- Select Manage, then Schedule stream.
- Choose Reuse settings or Create new, set the stream details and privacy, and schedule it.
A scheduled stream can appear as upcoming in the subscriber feed. Viewers may select Notify me to receive a reminder. Scheduling the source stream is separate from configuring its redirect.

Add the redirect before going live
- In YouTube Studio, select Content, then the Live tab.
- Hover over the scheduled source stream and select Edit.
- Open Customization.
- Under Redirect, select Add.
- Choose a Premiere, or search for another channel’s live stream.
- Save the configuration if YouTube prompts you.
The scheduled source stream is the video redirecting viewers away. The redirect is an end-of-stream action: it does not move viewers before the source broadcast finishes. YouTube displays a confirmation when the source ends and viewers are about to be redirected. See YouTube’s Live Redirect instructions.
Check eligibility and destination permissions
Requirements for the channel sending viewers
- Your channel must have more than 1,000 subscribers.
- Your channel must have no Community Guideline strikes.
Requirements for another channel’s live stream
The destination channel must permit other channels to redirect viewers to its content. Its creator can allow channels they subscribe to, all channels, or specific approved channels. A specific-channel allowlist can contain up to 100 channels.

A destination may be missing from the picker because it is not an active or upcoming stream or Premiere, or because its creator’s redirect settings do not permit your channel. The picker is not a directory of every channel or past broadcast. YouTube’s Live Redirect announcement also explains that availability depends on timing and destination permissions.
Choose between a Premiere and another live stream

These are destination types, not guarantees of audience size or performance. For a Premiere, YouTube recommends setting it up first. Tell viewers they may need to wait a few seconds after the source ends for their screens to reload. You can also pin a chat message on the Premiere watch page pointing viewers to the live stream, and allow other streamers to redirect to your destination when appropriate; these are recommendations, not prerequisites. Troubleshoot a missing or unexpected redirect
- The destination does not appear: Confirm that it is an eligible Premiere or active/upcoming live stream. For another channel’s stream, ask its creator to check redirect permissions for your channel.
- Your channel cannot set up a redirect: Check that it has more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes.
- The redirect is not immediate: It occurs when the source stream ends, not while it is still running. After the source ends, allow a few seconds for viewers’ screens to reload.
- You intended to send viewers to an older broadcast: The picker is limited by destination type, timing, and permissions; it does not list every past stream.
