YouTube Live Redirect lets an eligible creator send viewers from an ended live stream or Premiere to a chosen Premiere or another channel’s live stream. Set it up in YouTube Studio before going live, confirm that the destination is permitted, and tell viewers what to expect: autoplay may take them there, but viewers with autoplay off must press play.
What Live Redirect does—and what it does not
Live Redirect is a handoff configured by the creator. When the source stream or Premiere ends, YouTube can direct viewers to a destination selected in advance: a Premiere or another channel’s live stream. It does not automatically choose a Hindi-language destination or guarantee that every viewer starts watching the next video.

YouTube’s official Hindi Help Center calls the feature “लाइव रीडायरेक्ट.” For a Hindi audience, choose a destination that suits them and name it plainly in Hindi before the handoff. YouTube’s documentation reviewed here does not say that the feature matches the destination’s language to the source stream.
Set up a redirect from a live stream
- Open YouTube Studio, select Content, then open the Live tab.
- Hover over the source stream and choose Edit.
- Open Customization, find Redirect, and choose Add.
- Select an eligible Premiere or search for another channel’s live stream, then save the setup.
- When the stream ends, YouTube shows a confirmation that viewers will be redirected.
Studio labels can change over time. If the names or layout differ, look for the redirect control in the source stream’s customization settings.

If the destination is a Premiere
YouTube recommends setting up the Premiere before configuring the stream redirect. That way, the destination exists when you go to select it. Tell viewers which Premiere will follow and allow a few seconds for their screen to reload after the source ends.
Redirect viewers from a Premiere
The same basic workflow applies: in Studio, go to Content > Live, edit the Premiere, then choose Customization > Redirect > Add. Select another Premiere or another channel’s live stream. The redirect takes place when the Premiere ends.
Check eligibility and destination permissions
Requirements for the creator sending the redirect
YouTube Help says the sending creator must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. This is Live Redirect eligibility; it is separate from the general requirements for starting a live stream.

Permission for another channel’s live stream
The destination channel must permit other creators to redirect viewers to its content. YouTube documents these receiving controls:
- Allow channels the creator subscribes to. The default depends on whether subscriptions are public or private.
- Allow all channels. This option cannot be combined with the other listed permission choices.
- Allow specific channels, added manually. The list supports up to 100 channels and can be used alongside the subscribed-channel permission.
If a destination channel has not allowed the sending channel under its selected controls, it cannot be used for a cross-channel live-stream redirect. Confirm permission with the destination creator before planning the handoff.
Do not confuse redirect eligibility with live access
YouTube’s separate live-streaming guidance says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days to live stream. Those are general live-stream access requirements, not a replacement for the specific Live Redirect eligibility rules above.

What viewers experience when the source ends
In YouTube’s May 3, 2022 feature announcement, Jensen, a TeamYouTube Google Employee, said: “Once your live stream or Premiere ends (or you hit ‘End Stream’ in LCR), autoplay will move your viewers to the stream or Premiere that you selected.” The announcement also cautions: “If your viewers have auto-play disabled they’ll have to click the play button.”
So the handoff is conditional: viewers with autoplay enabled may be taken to the selected destination; those with autoplay disabled need to click play. YouTube Help also advises creators to tell viewers that the screen may take a few seconds to reload. The official materials reviewed do not provide a device-by-device behavior guide or a measured success rate, so do not promise that every viewer will arrive or that the transition will be instantaneous.
Choose the right destination for a Hindi audience

Live Redirect does not document automatic Hindi-language matching. Check the destination yourself, announce its name and language before ending the source, and avoid describing the handoff as a guaranteed language switch. YouTube’s published materials reviewed here do not establish that a redirect improves retention or report how many viewers complete it.

Prepare viewers for the handoff
- Verify that the destination is selected and available before the source begins.
- Tell viewers where they will go when the stream or Premiere ends, using the destination’s name in Hindi if that is clearest for your audience.
- Ask viewers to allow a few seconds for the screen to reload.
- Do not promise automatic playback to viewers who have disabled autoplay; they may need to click play.
Troubleshoot common redirect problems
The other channel’s stream is not available to select
Check whether the receiving channel has allowed redirects from your channel under its selected permissions. The recipient controls access; ask them to review their redirect settings if needed.
Viewers do not start playing the destination automatically
Autoplay may be disabled for those viewers. Tell them to click the play button, and give them time for the screen to reload.
The intended Hindi destination is not what viewers see
Live Redirect does not document automatic language matching. Reopen the source’s redirect settings to verify the selected destination, and explain the intended destination to viewers before the source ends.

The redirect option or workflow looks different in Studio
YouTube can update its interface. Use the current source stream or Premiere’s customization settings and look for Redirect; the documented path is Content > Live > Edit > Customization > Redirect.
