Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →First find out whether the silence is local to one viewer or present for everyone. If only one viewer hears it, check YouTube’s player volume and that device’s sound settings. If multiple viewers hear the gap—or it is also silent in the creator’s recording—inspect the VOD, encoder audio routing, and YouTube Live Control Room. YouTube’s published guidance covers general playback and live-ingest problems; it does not establish a specific defect or setting for silence between rerun VODs.
1. Establish where the silence occurs
Replay the affected timestamp and compare what different listeners hear. If possible, check the same VOD on another browser or device, ask another viewer, and compare it with the creator’s local archive. This separates a playback problem on one device from silence in the stream or recording; it does not by itself identify the cause.

- Only one viewer or device is affected: start with YouTube playback, browser, and device sound checks.
- Several viewers hear the gap, or the local archive is also silent: investigate the source material, encoder audio path, and stream ingest.
- The archive and encoder output sound normal but viewers hear silence: check YouTube Live Control Room and the outbound connection as well as playback on another device.
A gap at a VOD boundary could come from the source, audio routing, ingest, or playback. The available YouTube guidance does not isolate this particular rerun scenario as a known platform defect.
2. If just one viewer hears no sound
- In the YouTube player, make sure it is not muted and raise the volume.
- Check the browser’s sound settings and the device’s volume and output-device selection. Confirm that sound is not being sent to a disconnected or unintended output.
- Replay the same timestamp in another supported browser or on another device.
- Restart the browser or device, then replay the segment.
YouTube recommends checking browser or device sound, device sound settings, and restarting the browser or device when troubleshooting no sound. See YouTube’s no-sound troubleshooting guidance.
#1 Best Overall
- [XLR Mic Input] One XLR microphone input interface is set on the gaming audio mixer, which is great to up your audio quality with your XLR setup. The XLR mixer is a stepping stone to upgrade your live streaming. Audio mixer offered built-in 48V phantom power which opens up more choices for mics. Directly use it with your condenser microphone but do not solve added peripherals. (NOT available for USB mic)
- [Individual Channel Control] Gaming audio mixer for one mic recording with smooth volume slider fader take your streaming recording to a whole new level with full pleasure. Four independent channels set on the DJ mixer give audio volume of the MICROPHONE, LINE IN, HEADPHONE, and LINE OUT channels individual control. - [Mute and Monitor] The front mute and monitor buttons but not at the back, make it easier to get the audio interface use. Ability to mute audio, the audio mixer for streaming prevents background noise from damaging your live broadcast. Real-time feedback between speaking and hearing will not distract your attention, which encourage you to speak more confidently. The sturdy-built control button allow you to operate freely and easily during live streaming.
- [Sound Effects] The computer sound mixer supports four pre-recorded customized button that can be recorded and activated at the press of button to post production. 6 kinds of voice changing modes change your output style. 12 auto tune changes the tone of your voice. The podcast mixer being able to add different and fun effects is a huge bonus for your streaming or game voice.

Flowing or frozen RGB color rotation in a decent pace presents a greatly strong impression as a "light show" to your audience. Even a streaming equipment accessory will not be dull looking when video production.
3. If multiple viewers hear the gap or the VOD itself is silent
Inspect the affected segment and local recording
Open the published VOD at the gap and compare it with the creator’s local archive, if available. Then check the encoder’s local preview and audio meters during the same transition. If the archive is silent too, the problem may be upstream of YouTube playback; if the archive is clean, continue checking the encoder’s outgoing signal, ingest status, and connection. These comparisons narrow down where the break appears, but no single result proves the cause.
Check the encoder’s audio sources and routing
Confirm that the audio sources intended for the segment—such as game audio, desktop audio, or a microphone—are enabled, routed to the stream, and showing activity on the encoder’s meters. Pay particular attention to what changes when playback moves from one VOD to the next: a source can be present during one segment and absent during another. Review encoder errors and CPU load too. YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance recommends checking encoder sound and sources routed to it, as well as encoder errors, CPU load, and the local archive. If encoder output is healthy, it advises investigating the outbound internet connection.

Review YouTube Live Control Room and audio-stream configuration
Look for audio errors in Live Control Room. YouTube documents an ingest error for a stream with no audio stream and warns that multiple audio streams can cause ingestion problems. For RTMP/RTMPS, its error guidance identifies AAC and MP3 as supported audio codecs. The documented no-audio error states: “Your encoder is sending no audio.” See YouTube’s live-stream error messages.

For stereo audio over RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube recommends 128 Kbps in its encoder settings guidance. That is a configuration recommendation, not evidence that audio bitrate causes a silent interval between VODs.

- Compact, feature-rich livestreaming USB audio mixer provides high-quality sound for desktop audio production
- Plug-and-play connectivity to computer or mobile device (no special drivers required)
- Loopback function makes it easy to mix mic and instrument inputs with background music, game sounds, or other audio input from a computer – and send the stereo mix back to the computer for streaming
- High-performance A/D converter with resolution up to 24-bit/192 kHz provides crystal-clear output for voice and instruments
- Equipped with a single mic input (XLR or ¼"), two LINE inputs for guitar and keyboard, and USB-C input for connecting to a computer
4. Test the VOD handoff before the next rerun
- Run a private or unlisted test that uses the same game audio, microphone or desktop routing, and encoder setup as the intended stream.
- Include the actual transition between the two VODs rather than testing only a single clip.
- Listen to the encoder preview and inspect the local archive, then check the Live Control Room preview for audio errors.
- Monitor audio and video during the test. If the gap recurs, note whether it appears in the encoder output, the archive, and the YouTube playback; use those observations to narrow down the signal path.
YouTube advises testing with audio and movement representative of the intended stream and monitoring the stream. Applying that advice to the VOD handoff is a practical diagnostic step, not a YouTube-documented fix for this exact symptom. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
5. Common symptoms and what to check next
- Only one browser or device is silent: check player volume, browser and system sound, and the selected output; compare on another device.
- The published VOD and local archive are both silent: inspect the source audio and encoder routing around the handoff.
- The encoder preview or meters lose audio at the transition: check which audio sources are enabled and routed as the VOD changes.
- Live Control Room reports missing or multiple audio streams: correct the encoder’s audio-stream configuration and supported codec settings, then test again.
- The encoder and archive sound normal, but the stream does not: review ingest status and outbound internet, and compare playback from another viewer’s device.
These checks are diagnostic branches, not guarantees: the cause of a specific gap requires inspecting that stream and its setup. The available guidance does not support buying a headset, microphone, cable, capture card, or repair utility as a remedy for a silent interval between VODs.
