To keep the current game clear while rerunning VODs, update two separate things: the stream’s title in YouTube Studio, and—if you want the name visible inside the video—an OBS text overlay. The YouTube title appears as live-stream metadata; the OBS text is part of the broadcast image and will also appear in the replay. Change both when the game changes.

These controls are independent; the available documentation does not establish automatic synchronization between them. Use either or both, depending on whether you need the game name in YouTube’s title, on the video itself, or both.

Prepare the VOD playback scene in OBS
If you are sending the rerun through OBS, add your video playback and text to the scene that will be broadcast. OBS offers two relevant playback options:
- Media Source: plays a local video file and has a Loop option, useful for repeating a single file.
- VLC Video Source: supports a playlist, but requires VLC to be installed.
These are playback capabilities, not permission to rebroadcast a VOD. Confirm you have the rights needed to use the recording before streaming it.

Change the YouTube Live title
- Open YouTube Studio and select Go Live.
- Select the active stream or scheduled stream, then open its stream settings or Edit controls. YouTube documents metadata editing for encoder and mobile streams; the precise controls can vary by streaming method and interface.
- Enter a concise title that identifies the game currently being shown, then save the edit.
- Choose the Gaming stream type where appropriate. Tags generally have minimal discovery impact, except for content commonly misspelled.

Add the game name to the video with OBS
- In OBS, select the scene used for the VOD rerun.
- Add a Text Source above the video source. OBS calls the Windows option Text (GDI+); on macOS and Linux, it is Text (FreeType 2).
- Type the current game name, or enable Read from file and provide a text file containing the label.
- Position and size the text so viewers can read it without obscuring important content.
When you change games, edit the text source or update the file it reads. OBS’s Text Sources documentation covers the available options. Because the text is drawn into the stream image, it will appear in the replay too.

Keep both labels current when the game changes
When the VOD switches to a different game, update the YouTube title through the Live Control Room and change the OBS text overlay if you use one. Editing only the overlay changes the picture, not YouTube’s title; editing only the metadata title does not draw text over the video. The documentation does not establish a built-in link that updates both automatically.

Edit the replay after the stream
YouTube archives live streams by default, and the finished replay appears as a video. If the archive needs a different title or category, open it in YouTube Studio under Content, then edit its video details. The replay is managed separately from the live stream; YouTube documents a 100-character title limit for video titles.

Common problems and fixes
- The YouTube title changed, but no game name appears over the VOD. A metadata edit changes the title on YouTube, not the video pixels. Add an OBS Text Source if the name must appear inside the broadcast.
- The overlay changed, but the live page title is stale. Update the stream metadata separately in YouTube Studio.
- The text does not show in OBS. Check that the Text Source is in the active scene and positioned above the video source; confirm its text or file input is correct.
- A playlist source is unavailable. OBS’s VLC Video Source requires VLC to be installed. For a single local file, OBS Media Source supports playback and looping.
- The webcam workflow does not match the encoder instructions. YouTube’s encoder/mobile settings page excludes webcam streams. Use the webcam-specific controls instead.
- The replay has the wrong title or category. Edit the finished archive as a video in YouTube Studio; live metadata and replay details are separate controls.
