Yapily is not pursuing acquisitions for now, CEO and founder Stefano Vaccino told Tech.eu, saying the company prefers organic, sustainable growth. That is his reported position at the time of the interview—not a permanent commitment—as other open-banking businesses make acquisitions and the sector approaches changes in payments and financial-data access.
Yapily’s current choice is organic growth, not acquisitions
“We prefer to remain on the sidelines for the moment and focus on organic growth and sustainable growth,” Vaccino said, according to Tech.eu. The qualification matters: he described what Yapily prefers to do now, rather than ruling out mergers or acquisitions indefinitely.

The choice sets Yapily apart from the dealmaking described in the same report. It also reflects two ways an infrastructure company can respond to a changing market: buy capabilities or customers, or build revenue by serving existing customers and operating sustainably. Vaccino’s comments put Yapily on the second path for the time being.

Reported 2025 results provide context for the strategy
Tech.eu reported that Yapily’s turnover increased from £6.7 million to £16.7 million in 2025 and that the company moved from a £16.2 million loss to a £355,000 profit. These are figures reported by Tech.eu; they have not been independently checked against statutory accounts or company disclosures here.
#1 Best Overall
Vaccino attributed the performance to a lean organisation and greater revenue from existing customers. Tech.eu named Revolut, Intuit, Adyen and Google among those customers. The report also said Yapily had 102 employees at the end of 2025. Together, those details offer context for a strategy centred on making the existing business work harder, rather than using acquisitions to expand.
Other companies are making deals as the sector consolidates
Tech.eu cited PayPoint’s acquisition of open-banking company obconnect, along with TrueLayer’s acquisitions of Dutch fintech in3 and pay-by-bank company Zimpler. The article did not state deal terms, so the transactions cannot be compared on price or strategic value from the reported details alone.

Vaccino expects further consolidation. That expectation is not a claim that Yapily will join it: his stated preference was to stay out of M&A for the moment. Nor does the report establish how long that preference will last or what circumstances might change it.

Commercial variable recurring payments
Commercial variable recurring payments (CVRPs) let a customer authorise a business to collect recurring amounts that can vary, directly from the customer’s bank account. Tech.eu reported that CVRPs are moving into e-commerce. Vaccino sees commercial variable recurring payments as one development that could make the coming years important for open banking.
FiDA and access to financial data
FiDA, or Financial Data Access, is an EU regulatory framework intended to extend open banking beyond payments. Vaccino pointed to it as another development to watch. Tech.eu made a time-sensitive claim about when FiDA might become law, but that timing was not verified against an official legislative source here; it should not be treated as an independently established legal-status update.
Vaccino said, “I think 2027 and 2028 are going to be very important years from an open banking perspective.” His comment links the company’s longer-term outlook to prospective changes in payments and financial-data access, but it does not guarantee a particular regulatory timetable or business outcome.

What could change the decision to stay out of M&A?
Tech.eu reported that Yapily’s last funding round was a $51 million Series B in 2021. That historical detail does not establish the company’s present financing needs or plans. Vaccino left open the possibility of fundraising if the company decides open banking needs acceleration; the report gives no amount, timing or commitment to raise.

Future consolidation, new payment uses and financial-data rules may shape the choices ahead, but the interview does not say Yapily has decided to buy, sell or raise money.
