50 Rising Startups in Singapore: What the List Shows—and What It Doesn’t

The Business Times’ “50 rising startups in Singapore” is a funding-based discovery list, not a ranking of companies most likely to succeed. Published on 26 June 2024 using Tech in Asia data, it covers startups that recently raised funding, through Series E. The feature is described as constantly updated, but its current company rows are not visible in the accessible page text, so a reliable up-to-date roster cannot be reproduced here.

What the “50 rising startups” list measures

The Business Times describes the feature this way: “Using data from Tech in Asia (TIA) – now a part of SPH Media – we’ve generated a list of startups in Singapore that have recently raised funding.” Its central signal is therefore a recent funding round, rather than a direct measure of revenue, product quality, customer growth, or long-term prospects. The feature says its scope extends through Series E and includes round details. A displayed “US$0” indicates that the funding figure is undisclosed, not that the startup raised nothing. Why the roster needs a live check

The feature was published on 26 June 2024 and is described as constantly updated. The accessible page text provides its methodology but does not expose the 50 company rows. That means the publication date alone should not be treated as confirmation of the present list, and individual company names or rounds cannot be verified from that text. Check the live feature for its current entries before relying on a roster.

Singapore startup funding in 2025: the wider context

The ecosystem’s funding backdrop is not the same as the performance of any company on the list. Enterprise Singapore reported on 28 May 2026 that Singapore-based firms raised S$5.9 billion across 472 deals in 2025, citing the Singapore Venture Funding Landscape Report 2025 by EY-Parthenon and Enterprise Singapore. The report presents its comparison in US dollars: US$4.6 billion across 472 deals, with deal value down 34% and deal count down 35% year on year. These are two presentations of the same reported annual total; keep the currencies distinct when quoting them. Enterprise Singapore’s release and the report provide the figures.

Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future
  • If you want to build a better future, you must believe in secrets.
  • The great secret of our time is that there are still uncharted frontiers to explore and new inventions to create. In Zero to One, legendary entrepreneur and investor Peter Thiel shows how we can find singular ways to create those new things.

Fintech

Fintech remained Singapore’s largest industry by deal value in 2025. Its deal value rose 34% year on year to US$1.7 billion, and Singapore accounted for 74% of fintech funding across the ASEAN-6. These figures describe sector-wide investment, not the results of individual fintech startups. EY-Parthenon and Enterprise Singapore’s 2025 report.

Artificial intelligence

AI deal value increased from US$1.1 billion in 2024 to US$1.4 billion in 2025, while deal volume fell from 224 to 202. That combination indicates more value in fewer deals; it does not establish that AI startups generally are thriving. The report describes investors as selective, with capital concentrating in a smaller pool of companies with stronger differentiation and clearer routes to commercialization. EY-Parthenon and Enterprise Singapore’s 2025 report.

Funding stage

The funding environment was cautious, and a greater share of deal volume went to later-stage companies: late-stage deals accounted for 33.3% of volume in 2025, compared with 26.9% in 2024. When assessing a funding-based list, stage matters alongside sector and round size; an early-stage raise and a late-stage raise are not directly comparable indicators of maturity.

How to interpret an entry

A recent raise can explain why a company appears on the list, but it cannot by itself establish traction or predict survival or investment returns. When checking an entry against other sources, compare the latest round and announcement date, stage, sector, and whether the amount is disclosed. Distinguish company announcements from database records and third-party reporting, and avoid treating an undisclosed amount as a known figure.

How this list differs from other Singapore startup rankings

Singapore’s position as a startup hub provides ecosystem context, not a verdict on the companies in this feature. Enterprise Singapore’s innovation overview cites StartupBlink’s 2025 index, which placed Singapore first in Asia Pacific and fourth globally, and reports more than 4,500 technology startups in the country. StartupBlink’s Singapore ranking uses broader inputs, including investment, employee count, and quarterly website traffic, rather than the recent-funding signal described by The Business Times. StartupBlink’s Singapore page.

Forbes Asia’s 2026 100 to Watch is another separate selection, not an update or verification of The Business Times list. The Business Times reported that the Forbes list included 15 Singapore companies; it covered privately owned, for-profit ventures headquartered in APAC with no more than US$50 million in annual revenue and US$100 million in total funding through 15 August 2026.
