1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe xTool O1 Omni Dual UV is a printer edition; UV DTF is a transfer workflow that the Dual UV can already perform. For a flat, accessible rigid item, direct UV printing is usually the more straightforward choice. For a curved or awkward hard-surface item, a UV DTF transfer may be easier to position. Neither is universally better: the right method depends on the object, its surface, and whether you want to add film and lamination steps.
What is the difference between Dual UV and UV DTF?
They are not two competing printer models. Dual UV identifies an xTool O1 Omni configuration with two UV printheads; UV DTF describes a way of decorating an object. The Dual UV supports both direct UV printing and UV DTF, so choosing it does not mean giving up the transfer workflow.

Direct UV printing
The printer deposits UV-curable ink directly onto the final object, where UV light cures it during printing. The object must be set up and positioned in the printer, and the surface may need cleaning, preparation, or primer depending on the material. xTool explains the process and material caveats in its xTool O1 Omni Printer FAQs.

UV DTF transfer
Instead of printing on the object, the printer makes the design on transfer film. The printed design is laminated and then applied to the object like a decal. This adds supplies and handling steps, but can make placement easier on some curved, irregular, or hard-to-position items. xTool describes the workflow in its UV DTF FAQ.

Which workflow fits your project?
| Project consideration | Direct UV printing | UV DTF transfer |
|---|---|---|
| Object shape and access | A sensible starting point for flat, rigid objects that can be positioned under the printhead. | Worth considering for curved or irregular hard goods that are difficult to position for direct printing. |
| Workflow | Set up the object, then print directly on it. Surface preparation may be needed for some materials. | Print on transfer film, laminate the design, then apply it to the object. |
| Extra materials or equipment | Some applications may require a material-matched primer; cylindrical work may call for a compatible rotary attachment. | Requires suitable transfer film and lamination. xTool identifies its LM1 laminator for use with the printer. |
| Wearable clothing | UV printing is generally less suited to everyday garments; xTool points users toward textile printing methods. | UV DTF is a hard-surface transfer process, not the O1 garment DTF workflow. |

Which O1 edition should you consider?
xTool lists three O1 editions in its O1 Omni FAQs. The edition matters because the Dual UV is not the garment-printing configuration.
Rank #2
- 【Compatible with xTool Omni O1】Designed for the specified UV printer setup and intended to work with the corresponding small plate configuration.
- 【Small-Size Version】Sized specifically as the smaller version for the Small Plate, providing a positioning surface suited to the corresponding work area.
- 【Single-Tray Design】Uses a dedicated tray-style format that provides a base for arranging workpieces and positioning components.
- 【Grid Positioning Surface】The structured grid offers multiple placement points for arranging compatible stops and holders according to the workpiece.
- 【Adjustable Workpiece Layout】Positioning components can be relocated across the grid to create different arrangements for individual project requirements.
- Single UV: One UV head, described for rigid materials such as acrylic, wood, metal, glass, and ceramic. It supports direct UV and UV DTF workflows.
- Dual UV: Two UV heads, described for rigid and selected flexible materials, including leather and canvas. Its additional capabilities include flexible white ink and fluorescent colors; it supports direct UV and UV DTF.
- UV & DT: Pairs a UV head with a fabric printhead for rigid-material printing and textile workflows. For wearable garments, this is the O1 configuration to investigate rather than assuming Dual UV provides garment DTF.
xTool’s materials guide gives edition-specific material notes and identifies pretreatment or DTF film, plus a garment tray and heat press workflow, for fabric applications on UV & DT. Check the guide for the particular material and process you plan to use.
What the O1 specifications tell you—and what they do not
The xTool O1 Omni User Manual lists a standard baseplate measuring 13 × 16.5 inches (330 × 420 mm), a mini baseplate measuring 13 × 4.8 inches (330 × 122 mm), 720 × 1440 dpi resolution, and an embossed print height of up to 7 mm (0.28 inch). These are manufacturer specifications, not independent performance tests. Confirm that your workpiece fits the applicable setup and that your planned print falls within the supported height and material requirements.

The manual lists the Dual UV ink paths as CMYKWV, plus rigid white, flexible white, fluorescent red, and fluorescent yellow. That describes the listed ink configuration; it does not establish how a particular design will look on a particular substrate.
Check the surface and supplies before committing
UV ink cures on the surface rather than soaking deeply into the material, and adhesion varies with the substrate and its surface treatment. xTool notes that some materials may need cleaning, preparation, or primer, and its materials guide gives material-specific recommendations. A material name alone is not a guarantee of adhesion or a durable result.

- Identify the exact substrate and finish, not just the broad category—for example, the specific coating on a metal or cup.
- Check xTool’s material guidance for the edition, workflow, and any recommended preparation or primer.
- For UV DTF, confirm film compatibility and account for lamination and application in your workflow.
- For cylindrical objects, check whether the item and planned process require a compatible rotary attachment.
- Do not assume a printed item is food-safe or dishwasher-safe, or that a print will last a particular length of time; those claims require evidence for the specific material and use.
How much does the choice cost?
Tom’s Hardware reported US launch-date starting prices on June 30, 2026: $1,699 for Single UV, $2,699 for Dual UV, and $2,799 for the UV and DT Fabric edition. These are reported launch prices, not current quotes; retailer prices and availability can change. The purchase price also does not capture workflow costs: UV DTF adds film and lamination, while some direct-print applications may require primer or other material preparation.
A practical decision rule
- Start with the object. If it is flat, rigid, and easy to position, direct UV is the simpler workflow to consider.
- Consider the transfer route for awkward geometry. If a hard-surface item is curved, irregular, or difficult to position, assess whether a UV DTF decal will be easier to apply.
- Choose the edition for the material. Dual UV adds flexible white and fluorescent capabilities for selected materials; the UV & DT edition is the one associated with O1 textile workflows.
- Verify the exact substrate and setup. Check preparation, primer, transfer film, baseplate fit, and any needed rotary or laminating equipment before buying materials.
xTool’s materials and workflow descriptions help match a process to a project, but they do not provide an independent head-to-head test of print durability, color accuracy, speed, ink cost per item, or profitability. Treat those as questions to validate for your own material and production needs, not as settled advantages of either method.
