To add a video playlist in XSplit Broadcaster, choose Add source > Scene Widgets > Video Playlist, add your local files in the source properties, and save. XSplit says the Video Playlist supports custom transition and looping effects, but its public setup documentation does not specify the playlist’s transition controls. Check the installed version’s playlist properties rather than relying on guessed labels or settings.
Set up a Video Playlist in XSplit
- In the scene you intend to use for the radio stream, select Add source > Scene Widgets > Video Playlist. XSplit’s setup guide documents this path: XSplit Video Playlist setup.
- Open the Video Playlist source properties, choose Add, select the video files, then choose Ok to save the playlist.
- In that source’s properties, inspect the playlist-specific options for transition and looping effects. XSplit documents that these effects are supported, but does not publish the exact control names, choices, or timing procedure in the setup material. Confirm them in the version you have installed before configuring or describing a particular effect.
- Keep the playlist source in the scene intended for the stream. Configure YouTube output separately if you are broadcasting to YouTube Live.
Which kind of “transition” do you mean?
XSplit has several features that can sound like a playlist transition but apply to different things. Changing a scene, changing a playlist item, and changing whether a YouTube broadcast is live are separate operations.

Looping, file compatibility, and music rights
Looping
XSplit says the Video Playlist supports looping effects. The public setup article does not provide the exact playlist looping controls, so verify the option and its behavior in your installed version instead of assuming a particular toggle or repeat mode.

Supported media is not permission to broadcast it
XSplit’s media-source help lists common formats including MP4, WEBM, and MP3, and explains that audio and video files can be added as sources with playback controls in their properties: XSplit image, video, and audio sources. A file playing successfully does not establish that you have the rights to stream it publicly. Confirm that you have permission for the music, recordings, artwork, and other material in the playlist. XSplit’s media documentation does not determine copyright clearance.

Macros and playlist transitions
XSplit’s Macros extension documents the event When a media source stops and actions including Set scene transition and Set media source playback state. The playback-state action works with audio and video media sources. The documented actions do not include one for setting Video Playlist item transitions, so do not treat a macro for scene switching or media playback as a documented way to configure playlist-item effects. Check YouTube Live eligibility before scheduling
XSplit’s YouTube Live setup page says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. It also says first-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours. Platform requirements can change, so check the current YouTube and XSplit guidance before planning a first broadcast: XSplit YouTube Live setup.

Troubleshoot the transition you actually want
- Videos play, but there is no transition between them: Open the Video Playlist source properties and look for the playlist’s own transition options. XSplit confirms the feature exists, but does not document exact control labels or values publicly; verify the installed version’s controls.
- The transition changes the whole layout instead of the video: You are likely using a scene transition. The scene-list dropdown and Transition Manager apply to scene changes, not playlist entries.
- The YouTube stream becomes live at the wrong time: Check the YouTube Manual Transition setting and the YouTube Live Control Panel. That setting controls broadcast status, not playback effects.
- A macro changes scenes but not playlist behavior: The documented macro actions cover scene transitions and media-source playback state, not playlist-item transition settings.
- A file will not play: Check its format and source properties against XSplit’s media-source guidance. Format compatibility and successful playback do not grant broadcast rights.
