For most Firefox users, start with Firefox Screenshots: it is built in and captures full pages, visible areas, or selected regions. Choose GoFullPage when you need PNG, JPEG, or PDF exports, its editing tools, or its developer-advertised support for inner scroll areas and embedded iframes. There is no controlled comparison establishing which is faster or more accurate on long pages, so the better choice depends on what you need to do with the capture.
What each tool is best suited to
- Firefox Screenshots: the convenient choice for capturing a whole page, a visible area, or a selection without installing an extension. It can save the image or copy it to the clipboard.
- GoFullPage: consider it when you need its listed PNG, JPEG, or PDF output, its premium editing features, or its advertised handling of inner scrollable areas and embedded iframes.
Neither recommendation is based on a head-to-head performance test. For a very long or dynamic page, capture the page you care about and inspect the output rather than assuming either tool will handle every layout perfectly.

How to capture a full page with Firefox Screenshots
- Open the page in Firefox.
- Start Screenshots from the page context menu, press Ctrl+Shift+S (or Command+Shift+S on macOS), or add the Screenshots button to the toolbar.
- Choose the full-page option to capture the page, or select a visible area or page region if you only need part of it. Firefox can also highlight a page element for selection.
- Save the capture as an image or copy it to the clipboard.
Mozilla’s support article documents these capture and save options, but does not provide a long-page size threshold or benchmark. See Mozilla’s Firefox Screenshots instructions for the current workflow.

The developer advertises support for inner scrollable areas and embedded iframes. Its listing cautions that very large captures may be split into images in separate tabs. Treat those as the extension’s published feature descriptions, not independently verified results. Check GoFullPage’s Firefox Add-ons listing for current permissions and availability.
Long-page limitations and what to check
The available product documentation does not establish a universal maximum page height or a controlled reliability comparison. A page with lazy-loaded images, sticky elements, nested scrolling, or embedded content may need closer inspection after capture. For an especially long page, GoFullPage’s listing says the result may be split; neither source gives a comparable threshold.
- Scroll through the captured image or PDF and check that the beginning, middle, and end are present.
- Look for missing images or content that only appeared after scrolling or interaction.
- Check transitions around sticky headers and nested scroll areas for duplicated, omitted, or awkwardly joined content.
- If the output is incomplete, try the other tool on that page and compare the actual result.
Privacy and permissions
Mozilla’s Firefox Screenshots support article says: “We only collect interaction data such as your use of the Copy or Save full page button. We never collect data such as the URL or details of the image captured.” That statement concerns Firefox Screenshots as described in that article, not all Firefox telemetry or Mozilla products. The article also explains how to disable the relevant collection.
