XREAL One Pro vs. Rokid Max: Which Display Glasses Are Right for You?

XREAL One Pro adds native spatial modes and electrochromic shading; Rokid Max is a wired display that needs Station 2 for 3DoF. Check compatibility and generation-specific specs before buying.

Choose XREAL One Pro if you want spatial screen anchoring and adjustable lens shading built into the glasses. Choose the original Rokid Max if its fit and vision-correction approach suit you and you mainly want a wired personal display. Rokid Max needs the separate Station 2 for 3DoF spatial functions. Both still need a compatible source device with USB-C video output, so check your phone, computer, or console before buying.

What is the main difference?

XREAL One Pro is the more self-contained spatial-display option: XREAL documents native 3DoF, Follow and Anchor modes, and three electrochromic shading levels. Rokid Max is best treated as a wired display glasses model; Rokid says Max and Max 2 rely on Station 2 for 3DoF. This is a feature comparison based on vendor documentation, not a claim from comparative hands-on testing.

These are wearable personal displays, not standalone headsets. The glasses display video from a connected device; they do not remove the need for a compatible video-output path.

Which one should you choose?

Choose XREAL One Pro for spatial anchoring and lens control

  • You want native 3DoF and documented Follow and Anchor modes without adding Rokid Station 2.
  • You want to change lens shading using the glasses’ three electrochromic levels.
  • You prefer a larger officially documented field-of-view figure: XREAL lists 57° for One Pro. Rokid’s 50° figure is for Max 2, not the original Max.
  • Your interpupillary distance fits one of the two listed ranges: 57–66 mm or 66–75 mm.

XREAL describes One Pro as offering 3DoF and 6DoF spatial anchoring, while its developer specifications characterize the glasses’ tracking as 3DoF. Do not interpret that product-page wording as evidence of room-scale 6DoF tracking.

Choose Rokid Max if a wired personal screen is enough

  • You do not need spatial anchoring from the glasses on their own, or you are prepared to add Station 2 for 3DoF functions.
  • You have checked that the original Max’s fit and any required prescription solution work for you. Do not assume Max 2’s built-in diopter adjustment is also present on the original Max.
  • You want to consider Rokid’s Max 2 features separately rather than treating them as original-Max specifications.

Rokid’s June 27, 2024 support FAQ states: “Max/Max2 can only rely on Station2 to work together to realize 3DoF function; Air can’t do 3DoF algorithm compatibility at present due to IMU limitations.” The statement concerns Rokid’s Max and Max 2; it does not establish that every other Rokid product has the same limitation.

Check device compatibility before you buy

A USB-C connector alone does not guarantee that a device can send video to the glasses. XREAL says the source must support USB-C DisplayPort output. Rokid specifies USB-C 3.1 with display output for a direct connection. See XREAL’s connection guidance and Rokid’s FAQ.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Rokid lists MacBook, Windows PC, iPhone 15 and Steam Deck as direct-connection examples, but that is not a comprehensive or current compatibility guarantee for every configuration. Rokid also describes its Rokid Hub for compatible Android USB-C devices and Nintendo Switch. XREAL says Switch use requires an additional XREAL Hub; its Air 2 product page documents the connection guidance. Confirm the exact phone, computer or console, adapter, and glasses generation before purchasing any accessory.

Prescription and fit: keep the generations straight

For One Pro, XREAL lists two IPD size variants and says it offers prescription lens services through optical partners in the US, EU and UK. Check availability and fit with the relevant provider for your location and prescription.

Rokid’s built-in -6.00D to 0.00D adjustment and its Max 1 lens compatibility statement apply to Max 2 in the cited FAQ. They do not establish the original Max’s adjustment range or guarantee that a particular prescription insert will work with it. Confirm model-specific compatibility with Rokid or the lens provider before ordering.
