The Xiaomi 15 is worth considering if you want flagship-class hardware in a compact Android phone. Its sharp, adaptive high-refresh display, Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, three-camera system and large-for-its-size battery make a compelling package. The main reservations are Xiaomi’s HyperOS software, uneven ultrawide-camera feedback and reports of heat or throttling during demanding use. Whether it is the right buy depends on your local price and which of those trade-offs matter to you.
What the Xiaomi 15 offers
Xiaomi’s global product page lists a 6.36-inch-class AMOLED display with an adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, three 50MP rear cameras and a 32MP front camera. That combination makes the Xiaomi 15 a compact flagship rather than a budget phone: its appeal is packing high-end core hardware and a versatile camera setup into a relatively small body. [Xiaomi]

The display’s size may suit people who find larger flagships cumbersome, but “compact” is relative: try the phone in person if one-handed reach or pocket fit is a deciding factor. The specifications alone do not establish how it compares in hand with every rival.
Pros and cons at a glance
| Strengths | Trade-offs |
|---|---|
| Compact flagship format with Snapdragon 8 Elite | HyperOS may not suit users who prefer a simpler software experience |
| Adaptive 1–120Hz AMOLED display | Ultrawide-camera feedback is less consistent than the main-camera assessment |
| Three 50MP rear cameras, including a stabilized telephoto with macro capability | Reviewers report heat and performance throttling under stress |
| 5,240mAh typical battery capacity and high advertised charging rates | Battery figures depend on different test methods; advertised charging speeds require compatible Xiaomi accessories |
How good are the cameras?
The rear system pairs a 50MP Light Fusion 900 main camera with optical image stabilization, a 50MP 60mm floating telephoto with stabilization and 10cm macro capability, and a 50MP ultrawide. That gives the Xiaomi 15 more flexibility than a phone relying only on a main and ultrawide camera. [Xiaomi]

Main camera
In Tom’s Guide’s described comparison with the Google Pixel 9 Pro, the Xiaomi 15 produced a cooler-looking image that the reviewer judged more true-to-life and crisp in the particular main-camera scene. That is useful evidence about one scene and comparison, not a universal ranking of either camera. [Tom’s Guide]
Ultrawide and telephoto
The ultrawide is the system’s clearest question mark. Android Authority called it mediocre, while Tom’s Guide’s account of an ultrawide comparison found both the Xiaomi 15 and Pixel 9 Pro images darker than the scene warranted. 91mobiles described the Leica cameras as reliable overall but also flagged occasional camera-related issues. Together, these reviews suggest judging the phone by consistency across lenses, not by the 50MP labels alone. [Android Authority] [Tom’s Guide] [91mobiles]

Battery life and charging: claims versus a test result
Xiaomi lists a 5,240mAh typical-capacity battery and claims up to 25 hours of video playback. The company attributes the playback figure to internal laboratory testing and says actual results may vary. It also advertises 90W wired and 50W wireless charging; the maximum wired rate requires a Xiaomi 90W wired charger, while the wireless rate requires a Xiaomi wireless charging set rated at equal or higher power. These are manufacturer specifications and claims, not independent everyday-use guarantees. [Xiaomi]

Separately, 91mobiles reported 13 hours and 44 minutes in its PCMark battery test, measured from 100% down to 20% in 2025. That publication-specific result is not a screen-on-time promise for every person. PCMark testing and Xiaomi’s video-playback claim use different workloads and should not be treated as directly comparable. [91mobiles]

Software and sustained performance are the main caveats
HyperOS is a preference-sensitive part of the purchase. Android Authority described the software as messy, and Xiaomi notes that HyperOS features, apps and services can vary by region, software version and model. If interface design and preinstalled software strongly affect your daily experience, check the version offered in your market and try it before buying where possible. [Android Authority] [Xiaomi]
There is also a distinction between peak speed and sustained performance. Android Authority raised heat concerns under stress, and 91mobiles noted performance throttling. These observations matter most if you routinely play demanding games, record or process video for long sessions, or otherwise keep the processor heavily loaded; the available review findings do not establish that every user will encounter the same behavior. Android Authority states that the Xiaomi 15 receives four major OS updates and six years of security patches. Treat that as the policy reported in that review; check Xiaomi’s current support information for your region before relying on an end date. [Android Authority]

- Size and ergonomics: Check dimensions and, if possible, handle the phone. A screen diagonal alone does not determine comfort.
- Camera consistency: Look at sample images from the main, ultrawide and telephoto cameras, especially the focal lengths you use most.
- Software and support: Decide whether HyperOS suits you and verify the update policy for the exact regional model.
- Battery and charging: Compare independent tests using similar workloads, and include the cost or inconvenience of any required charging accessories.
- Local purchase terms: Check current price, stock, storage configuration, warranty and seller. These can vary by country and change over time.
Verdict: who should buy the Xiaomi 15?
The Xiaomi 15 is a strong candidate for someone who wants flagship performance and a useful multi-camera system without moving to a very large phone. Its high-refresh display and substantial stated battery capacity round out the hardware. It is a less straightforward choice if you want the most consistent ultrawide results, dislike Xiaomi’s software approach or put sustained heavy-load performance above compact size. Buy only after checking the current local price and regional model details; those determine whether its strengths are worth the compromises for you.
