Xbox Series S GPU Equivalent: What Nvidia Card Comes Closest?

The Xbox Series S has a custom AMD RDNA 2 GPU, so no Nvidia equivalent is confirmed. A GTX 1650 comparison is informal, not a benchmarked match.

There is no confirmed Nvidia GPU equivalent to the Xbox Series S. Microsoft specifies a custom AMD RDNA 2 graphics processor, not a GeForce model. A GTX 1650-class card is sometimes suggested in informal discussions, but that is a rough comparison—not a verified match or the result of a controlled test.

What GPU does the Xbox Series S actually use?

Microsoft lists the Series S graphics processor as a custom RDNA 2 GPU with 20 compute units running at 1.565 GHz and peak performance of 4 TFLOPS. Microsoft’s Xbox Series S technical specifications describe the hardware; its Xbox Series X|S technology glossary also identifies the console’s AMD RDNA 2 architecture.

The console also has 10 GB of GDDR6 memory, arranged as 8 GB at 224 GB/s and 2 GB at 56 GB/s, according to Microsoft. That is system memory in a console-specific configuration, so it should not be treated as a direct desktop graphics-card VRAM equivalent.

Why a GTX 1650 comparison is not an equivalence

A community discussion has suggested a GTX 1650-class card, but it provides no controlled Series S-versus-PC benchmark establishing comparable performance. Treat it as an informal point of reference only, not as an official match or a promise that the two deliver the same results. NVIDIA’s GeForce GPU comparison page lists GeForce models and features but does not name a Series S equivalent.

Comparing TFLOPS alone cannot establish equal gaming performance across different architectures and platforms. The Series S is a fixed console configuration, and games are developed for that hardware. A PC’s results also depend on the particular game, graphics settings, resolution, processor, drivers, and the rest of the system.

How to make a useful PC-to-console comparison

If you are choosing hardware for a specific game, compare actual results for that game at the same resolution and graphics settings. Look at frame-rate consistency as well as average performance, and account for features such as ray tracing and upscaling when the game supports them. The sources available here do not establish a validated cross-platform benchmark mapping between the Series S and a GeForce card, so they cannot support a precise Nvidia model recommendation.
