If the Xbox app’s remote-install button is missing, disabled, or does nothing on cellular data, the available Xbox guidance does not establish that mobile data is the cause or identify a confirmed setting that fixes it. Check the symptom on Wi-Fi as a comparison, then use Xbox’s current support instructions for the relevant issue rather than assuming a particular switch will restore the button.
Can you install Xbox games remotely over cellular data?
That is not confirmed by the available official guidance. Xbox Support has a page for installing games remotely on Xbox One, but its detailed instructions were not accessible here. The evidence therefore does not establish whether a cellular connection is supported in every situation, or whether it disables remote installation.

Start by identifying what the button is doing
These symptoms are different, so note which one you see before changing settings:

- Tapping the control has no visible effect: Note whether the app gives an error, shows a pending request, or remains unchanged. The available sources do not verify a specific recovery step for an unresponsive tap.
Use Wi-Fi as a comparison, not a presumed fix
- Open the same game and console context in the Xbox app while connected to cellular data, and record whether the control is absent, disabled, or unresponsive.
- Connect the phone to Wi-Fi and check the same screen again without changing other settings.
- If the behavior differs, record the connection type and any message shown, then consult Xbox’s current remote-install instructions. A difference between Wi-Fi and cellular is useful evidence for troubleshooting, but alone does not identify the underlying cause.
- If the behavior is unchanged, use Xbox’s current mobile-device connection guidance if the problem involves connecting the app to the console. Its specific steps could not be verified here, so follow the instructions displayed on Xbox Support rather than relying on an unconfirmed workaround.
Do not confuse download bandwidth settings with the app button
Xbox Support has separate guidance on managing network bandwidth for game downloads. That page’s existence does not show that console download-bandwidth settings control whether the remote-install button is available in the phone app. Treat download behavior and a missing or unresponsive app control as separate symptoms unless current Xbox guidance connects them.
What to include when asking Xbox Support for help
- Whether the button is absent, greyed out, or accepts a tap without a visible response.
- Whether the result changes between Wi-Fi and cellular data.
- The console and game involved, plus any error text the app displays.
- Whether the issue is specifically app-to-console connection or only the remote-install action.
This information helps distinguish a connection problem from a control or request problem without presuming a cause that Xbox’s accessible guidance does not confirm.
