The transmitter and extractor options are hardware workarounds based on the available HDMI or optical audio route; they are not native Xbox Bluetooth connections. Microsoft’s home-theater guide notes that routing audio and video through an A/V receiver can add lag depending on the equipment.
How to set up each workaround
Pair the speaker with the TV
- Connect the Xbox One to the TV using HDMI.
- Open the TV’s sound or Bluetooth settings and look for an option to pair or connect a Bluetooth audio device.
- Put the speaker into pairing mode and select it in the TV’s device list.
- Play Xbox audio and confirm that the TV is sending sound to the speaker.
TV features and menu names vary. If the TV cannot transmit audio over Bluetooth, use one of its supported audio outputs or another route below.

Use an optical Bluetooth transmitter
- Check whether the Xbox revision, TV, or audio system you plan to use has an optical S/PDIF output.
- Connect that output to a Bluetooth transmitter with an optical input, and set the adapter to transmit mode.
- Pair the transmitter with the Bluetooth speaker using the instructions for those devices.
- Play audio and check for stable sound and acceptable synchronization.
Confirm the transmitter accepts the output format and that the speaker can pair with it before buying. Microsoft documents optical audio routes, but does not endorse a particular transmitter.

Add an HDMI audio extractor
- Connect the Xbox’s HDMI output to the extractor’s HDMI input.
- Connect the extractor’s HDMI output to the TV or monitor.
- Connect the extractor’s audio output to a Bluetooth transmitter or wired speaker with a compatible input.
- Verify that the extractor supports the video resolution, refresh rate, HDR requirements, and audio format used by the rest of the setup.
An extractor can provide an audio output when the display does not have a usable one. It does not add Bluetooth to the Xbox itself.

Will Bluetooth audio be delayed?
Delay depends on the entire audio path and the equipment in it. Microsoft warns that routing audio and video through an A/V receiver may introduce lag, depending on the receiver and setup. Bluetooth transmitter and speaker latency also varies; the cited materials provide no measured comparison or latency figure for Xbox One Bluetooth workarounds.
If tight game-audio synchronization matters, a wired HDMI or optical route to a compatible soundbar or receiver may be preferable. Check the equipment’s supported audio formats and test the connection in the games you play.

What to check before buying an adapter
- Available ports: Confirm the precise Xbox revision, TV, monitor, or audio system has the output you intend to use.
- Adapter direction: For sending audio to a Bluetooth speaker, choose a Bluetooth transmitter, not a receiver.
- Format compatibility: Check that the TV, transmitter, extractor, and speaker support the audio format used by your setup.
- Video passthrough: For an HDMI extractor, verify resolution, refresh rate, HDR, and other video requirements are supported end to end.
- Pairing and synchronization: Confirm the adapter can pair with your speaker and consider whether any delay is acceptable for gaming.
