Worth it if you want password management bundled with identity and device protection; harder to justify if you only need a password manager. Aura documents unlimited password storage, generation, sync, CSV import, and alerts for weak or exposed passwords. But its current US pricing page packages the manager with other services, and the reviewed sources do not establish an independent security audit.
What Aura Password Manager includes
Aura describes its Password Manager as a way to save and generate passwords for unlimited accounts, sync changes across supported devices, and receive alerts about weak passwords or passwords exposed in a breach. It says users can update flagged passwords in a few clicks. These are Aura’s product claims, not independent performance findings. Aura’s product page describes the features.

- Store and generate passwords for unlimited accounts.
- Sync password changes across supported browsers and devices.
- Import passwords using a CSV file exported from a browser or another password manager.
- Get alerts about weak or breach-exposed passwords.
Where you can use it
Aura lists extensions for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, as well as apps for iOS and Android. Its product page does not list a dedicated Windows or macOS password-manager desktop app. Security.org’s 2026 review likewise reports no Windows or macOS desktop app and describes access through a web dashboard. Security.org’s review is the source for the dashboard description.
If you rely on a desktop app, confirm that Aura’s browser and web-based access fit your routine before subscribing. The listed browser extensions and mobile apps may cover many everyday uses, but they are not the same as a dedicated desktop application.

How secure is Aura Password Manager?
Aura says its information is secured with “256-AES (Advanced Encryption Standard),” describing it as technology generally used by major banks and the military. That is Aura’s statement, not an independent audit result. The reviewed materials do not establish an independent audit, provide a detailed encryption architecture, or independently verify how the implementation works. Aura’s product page contains the vendor claim.
There is also a reported security incident to consider without overstating what it means for the password vault. TechRadar reported that a phishing attack targeting one Aura employee in March 2026 led to unauthorized access to 900,000 records, mainly names and email addresses. The report said Social Security numbers and financial data were not compromised; it did not establish that password vault contents were accessed. TechRadar’s report is the source for those details.
Aura’s FAQ also cautions that no identity-theft protection service can prevent every risk of identity theft and fraud. That statement concerns identity protection generally, rather than a specific password-manager guarantee. Aura’s FAQ provides that qualification.

Aura plan prices and what the bundle means
Aura’s US-facing pricing page, checked October 7, 2026, lists Password Manager in its Individual, Couple, and Family plans, alongside antivirus and VPN. Plans also differ in identity and fraud protection and household or device coverage. These are prices for broader security subscriptions, not for a password-manager-only tier. Check Aura’s pricing page for current rates and terms.
| Plan | Annual billing, per month | Monthly billing | Other included services |
|---|---|---|---|
| Individual | $12 | $15 per month | Antivirus and VPN; identity and fraud protection |
| Couple | $22 | $29 per month | Antivirus and VPN; identity and fraud protection |
| Family | $32 | $50 per month | Antivirus and VPN; identity and fraud protection |
Aura also advertises a 14-day free trial and a 60-day money-back guarantee on annual plans, subject to its terms. Prices, eligibility, offers, and refund conditions can change, so review the live pricing and terms before paying. Aura’s terms set out applicable conditions.
Security.org’s 2026 review reports that Aura Password Manager can be purchased on its own and describes a password-manager, VPN, and antivirus offer starting at $1.99 per month billed annually. Aura’s official pricing page reviewed here lists only broader plans that include Password Manager. Because these accounts conflict, do not assume the reported standalone offer is currently available; confirm directly with Aura before relying on it.

How to decide whether Aura is worth it
It may suit you if you will use the bundle
Aura is easier to justify when you want its password tools as part of a broader subscription and expect to use the included identity protection, antivirus, VPN, or household coverage. Compare the plan’s total cost with the value of the services you would actually use, rather than treating the password manager as a separately priced product.
Look elsewhere if you want only password management
If your main need is storing and filling passwords, compare focused password managers on total subscription cost, browser and operating-system support, import workflow, and the transparency of their security documentation. The official Aura plan page does not show a password-manager-only subscription, so the listed package price may be more than you need.
Check your device workflow and assurance needs
Make sure Chrome, Firefox, or Edge extensions and iOS or Android apps cover the devices you use. If a dedicated Windows or macOS application is essential, the reviewed Aura materials do not list one. For security assurance, distinguish Aura’s 256-AES description from independently verified audits: the sources reviewed here do not establish such an audit.

How to switch to Aura
Aura says passwords can be imported from a browser or another password manager using a CSV file. A CSV export is typically readable as plain text, so treat it as sensitive while moving it.
- Export your passwords from your current browser or password manager as a CSV file, following that service’s instructions.
- Use Aura’s import workflow to upload the CSV. Aura’s product page says CSV import is supported, but the exact interface steps may vary by source and version. See Aura’s product page.
- Check that important logins, usernames, and passwords appear correctly in Aura before removing the old copy.
- After confirming the import, securely delete the exported CSV and empty it from any recycle bin or trash. Avoid leaving it in shared folders or cloud storage.
Aura’s page states that CSV import is available; it does not establish that every browser or password manager exports an identical file format. If the import fails, check the source service’s export options and Aura’s current import guidance.

Aura Password Manager offers the core functions many users need, but the decision is principally about buying into Aura’s wider security package. The current official US-facing plans include password management with antivirus, VPN, and other protections; users seeking only a password manager should compare dedicated alternatives. Aura’s encryption statement is a vendor claim, and the reviewed sources do not establish an independent audit.
