Yes—the XBOX Nano Controller is designed to work with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs, Android and iOS devices, and compatible Smart TVs. These are Microsoft’s platform-level compatibility statements. They do not establish support for every phone model, operating-system build or television, so a device that runs Android, iOS or a Smart TV platform is not automatically guaranteed to support every controller feature.
Xbox Series X|S compatibility
The Nano is officially supported on both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. On these consoles it uses Xbox Wireless rather than Bluetooth. That distinction matters because the console connection is handled through Xbox’s native wireless system, while Bluetooth is intended for the controller’s PC, mobile and Smart TV use cases.

For console play, use the Xbox’s normal wireless-controller pairing process. Once the controller is paired, it is intended for standard gameplay on either Series console. The official compatibility listing does not identify a separate feature set for Series X versus Series S, so the same platform support applies to both.
What Series players should check
- Confirm that the controller is being paired through the console’s Xbox Wireless process, not the Bluetooth menu used on a phone or PC.
- Keep the controller charged before the first session; Microsoft says the unit has an internal rechargeable battery.
- Have a USB-C charging cable available. Microsoft says the cable is required and sold separately.
Xbox One compatibility
The XBOX Nano Controller also officially supports Xbox One through Xbox Wireless. Microsoft’s listing treats Xbox One as a supported console platform, so an Xbox One owner does not need to move to a Series console to use the Nano.
Xbox One support does not mean the controller can use the console’s Bluetooth settings. Bluetooth is the connection method Microsoft identifies for Windows PCs, mobile devices and compatible televisions; Xbox One is listed under Xbox Wireless.
Windows 10 and Windows 11 PC support
Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs are supported through Bluetooth. A desktop or laptop therefore needs working Bluetooth hardware, either built in or provided by a compatible adapter. The official product information does not promise a separate Xbox Wireless connection for Windows PCs.

Connecting to a Windows PC
- Turn on Bluetooth on the Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer.
- Put the Nano into its wireless-pairing mode using the controller’s pairing control and open the computer’s Bluetooth device list.
- Select the controller when it appears, then wait for Windows to report that the connection is active.
- Launch a game and verify that the game recognizes the controller before changing any mappings.
The exact wording of Windows menus can vary by build, and Microsoft’s product page does not publish a separate PC pairing guide for this model. If the controller does not appear, remove an old controller entry from Windows Bluetooth settings, restart Bluetooth, and run the pairing process again.
Button mapping and the USB-C requirement
Microsoft says button mapping is available in the Xbox Accessories app on Windows 10 and Windows 11. A compatible USB-C cable is required for the app connection. Bluetooth can handle wireless gameplay, but it does not replace the cable requirement when you need to connect the controller to Xbox Accessories for configuration.
Because the cable is sold separately, include one in your setup plan if you want to remap controls, configure the programmable Action Button or perform other wired configuration tasks. The same cable is also needed to recharge the internal battery.

Android and iOS compatibility
Android and iOS are listed as compatible mobile platforms over Bluetooth. This makes the Nano suitable for supported phones and tablets, including mobile games and compatible cloud-gaming apps. Microsoft qualifies that statement: mobile and Bluetooth support applies to selected devices and software versions, and some functionality may not be available.

What the mobile qualification means
- Android support is not a guarantee for every Android handset, tablet or operating-system build.
- iOS support is not a guarantee for every iPhone, iPad or iOS release.
- A phone may accept the Bluetooth pairing while an individual game ignores some buttons or advanced controls.
- Features that depend on Xbox console integration or the Windows Xbox Accessories app should not be assumed to work on mobile.
Pairing a phone or tablet
- Open the device’s Bluetooth settings.
- Place the Nano in pairing mode.
- Choose the controller from the list of available Bluetooth devices.
- Open a controller-compatible game and test movement, face buttons, triggers and the Action Button.
If pairing succeeds but a game does not respond, check that the game supports external controllers and that the phone is one of the selected devices covered by Microsoft’s compatibility guidance. The official pages do not enumerate every supported model or OS version, so there is no complete universal phone matrix to consult.
Smart TV compatibility
Compatible Smart TVs can use the Nano over Bluetooth. Microsoft does not publish a complete television-model list, so “Smart TV” alone is not enough to establish compatibility. The television must support Bluetooth game controllers and the relevant software must recognize one.
Xbox Wire specifically describes using the controller with the Xbox app on Samsung TVs that include Gaming Hub in select regions. That statement is narrower than support for every Samsung television: availability depends on the TV model, region and the software installed on it.

- Verify that the TV has Bluetooth controller support, not merely Bluetooth audio.
- Confirm that the Xbox app or cloud-gaming service is available in your country.
- Check whether the television’s software is current enough to recognize the controller.
- Expect regional differences; Microsoft’s announcement does not provide a complete global model list.
Cloud gaming and regional promotions
The controller is positioned for cloud gaming as well as local console and PC play. Xbox Wire says it can be used with the Xbox app on Samsung TVs with Gaming Hub in select regions. It also announced US holiday offers pairing the controller with select Samsung TVs, and a separate US Meta Quest offer, with two months of Game Pass Ultimate for new members.

Those offers are promotions rather than universal compatibility requirements. Eligibility, participating hardware, dates and membership terms vary by region and can change. Treat the announcements as context for the controller’s intended use, not as a promise that every buyer will receive a bundle or that every TV or headset is eligible.
Battery, charging and the USB-C cable
The Nano has an internal rechargeable battery. Microsoft requires a USB-C charging cable and sells the controller without that cable, so the cable is an additional purchase unless you already own a compatible one.
The cable has two practical roles:
- Charging: use it to recharge the controller’s internal battery.
- Windows configuration: connect it to a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC when using the Xbox Accessories app for button mapping.
The published specifications do not state battery capacity, charging time or runtime. Do not infer those figures from the controller’s size or from another Xbox controller.

Xbox Wire describes the controller as a little over 5 inches long and 3.5 ounces, making it Xbox’s smallest controller. General Manager James Hunter wrote on October 14, 2026, that it is “lighter and shorter than most modern smartphones.” Those dimensions may appeal to children, travelers and players who find a full-size controller tiring, but physical comfort is personal: hand size, grip and the distance between controls matter more than a number alone.

The Nano provides 18 standard gameplay inputs. Its programmable Action Button can be assigned to screenshots, gameplay capture and other shortcuts. The published information does not list the exact remapping options for every platform, so the broadest configuration support is the Windows Xbox Accessories workflow, where Microsoft explicitly confirms button mapping with a USB-C cable.
How it compares with a standard Xbox Wireless Controller
The meaningful comparison is not simply “small versus large.” Evaluate the two designs against the way you play:
- Platform connection: both should be judged by whether your target device uses Xbox Wireless or Bluetooth. The Nano’s official console support is Xbox Wireless; its PC, mobile and Smart TV support is Bluetooth.
- Portability: the Nano is a little over 5 inches long and 3.5 ounces, so its strongest distinction is reduced size and weight.
- Power: the Nano uses an internal rechargeable battery, with a USB-C cable required and sold separately.
- Shortcuts: the programmable Action Button adds configurable access to screenshots, captures and other shortcuts.
- Mobile and TV use: selected-device and version caveats apply, and Smart TV support depends on the television model and region.
- Price and timing: the Nano is listed at $49.99 in the US Microsoft Store, with a November 4, 2026 release date.
Official Nano materials do not provide a complete side-by-side specification sheet for a standard Xbox Wireless Controller, so battery runtime, exact dimensions and feature differences beyond these published points should be checked separately rather than assumed.
Pricing, release date and preorder timing
The Microsoft Store lists a US price of $49.99 and a US release date of November 4, 2026. Xbox Wire says preorders began October 14, 2026, and the Microsoft Store showed preorder availability during October. These are US dates and pricing; other markets may launch later or use different prices.
At the stated release timing, a preorder is not the same as immediate delivery. Check the store’s estimated ship date, local currency, taxes and return terms before placing an order.
Troubleshooting by symptom
The console cannot find the controller
- Use the Xbox Wireless pairing process rather than the console’s Bluetooth settings.
- Charge the controller with USB-C, then retry pairing.
- Move the controller closer to the console and temporarily disconnect it from another device.
Windows sees the controller but Xbox Accessories does not
- Connect a compatible USB-C cable; Microsoft requires a wired connection for the app workflow.
- Try a different USB port and confirm that the cable supports data, not only charging.
- Close and reopen Xbox Accessories after Windows finishes detecting the controller.
A phone pairs but a game does not respond
- Confirm that the game supports Bluetooth controllers.
- Test the controller in another compatible game.
- Check the phone model and operating-system version against the manufacturer’s current compatibility information, because Microsoft only promises support for selected devices and versions.
The Smart TV does not list the controller
- Confirm that the television supports Bluetooth input devices rather than Bluetooth audio alone.
- Check whether the Xbox app, Gaming Hub or cloud-gaming service is available in your region.
- Forget older controller pairings and restart the TV before trying again.
Who should buy it?
The Nano makes the most sense for someone who wants one small controller across an Xbox console and Bluetooth devices, or for a player who values low weight and a programmable shortcut button. It is also a logical fit for supported Samsung TV cloud-gaming setups in regions where the Xbox app is available.
Pause before buying if your main device is an unlisted phone, tablet or Smart TV, if you need a charging cable included in the box, or if you require published battery-runtime figures. Microsoft confirms the broad platform categories but does not publish every compatible model, software build or advanced-feature limitation.
