Yes—Xbox Cloud Gaming works on four Fire TV models Amazon explicitly lists: Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2023), Fire TV Stick 4K (2023), Fire TV Stick 4K Max (1st Gen), and Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen). Install the Xbox app, sign in with a Microsoft account, pair a compatible Bluetooth controller, then choose a cloud-playable game. Most games require a cloud-supported Game Pass plan; selected free-to-play games, including Fortnite in supported regions, are an exception.

- Confirm your model: Check that your Fire TV appears in Amazon’s compatible-device list above.
- Install the app: Open the Amazon Appstore, find the Xbox app, and download it.
- Sign in: Open the Xbox app and sign in with your Microsoft account.
- Pair a controller: Connect a compatible Bluetooth controller through Fire TV’s Bluetooth settings. The exact menu wording can vary by Fire TV software version.
- Choose a cloud-playable game: Browse in the Xbox app and start a title marked for cloud play. Not every Game Pass title or Xbox game you own is necessarily streamable.
Amazon lists Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, Sony DualSense, and DualShock 4 among compatible Bluetooth controllers. Do you need Game Pass Ultimate?
No. Xbox’s December 19, 2025 getting-started guide says cloud gaming is included with Game Pass Essential, Premium, and Ultimate. The 2024 Fire TV launch announcement named Ultimate as the requirement at launch, but that launch-era plan information has since changed. Can you play without a Game Pass subscription?

Can you stream games you own?
Xbox says selected games that you own or buy outside Game Pass can be streamed if they are cloud playable. Ownership alone does not make every Xbox game available to stream; check the current cloud-playable list for the particular title. Xbox Cloud Gaming
Which games are available?
The cloud catalogue changes and varies by region, plan, and platform. Xbox’s December 2025 guide said more than two thirds of the Game Pass library was cloud-enabled at that time, but that is a dated snapshot rather than a guaranteed share today. What internet speed and connection do you need?
Xbox recommends an internet connection of at least 20 Mbps for a stable cloud-gaming connection. That is a recommendation, not a promise of smooth play: performance can also depend on your location, device, connection quality, and other factors. - If play stutters or looks inconsistent, try Ethernet if practical, or connect Fire TV to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Check that the Fire TV is using the intended network band and that other devices or downloads are not heavily using the connection.
- If the issue persists, consider whether your location or device is affecting streaming; a higher advertised internet speed alone cannot guarantee a better result.
What to know before choosing Fire TV for cloud gaming
Fire TV provides a way to stream supported Xbox games without an Xbox console, but the experience depends on the supported device, an internet connection, a controller for most games, regional availability, and the cloud catalogue. Xbox also notes that streamed games can differ from local play in areas such as video resolution, audio output, cloud-only saves, in-game purchases, user-generated content, companion apps, and peripheral support.
