Set its data type to Integer, enter ./Device/Vendor/MSFT/Policy/Config/WindowsSandbox/AllowAudioInput, and use value 1. Assign the profile to the intended device group, verify deployment and Windows support, then restart Windows Sandbox.
This policy allows Sandbox to receive host audio input; it does not ensure a microphone is connected, unmuted, working, or available to a particular application. It also does not control Windows apps’ microphone privacy permissions.

What the Intune policy changes
Microsoft documents AllowAudioInput as a device-scoped Windows Sandbox policy. Its integer values are 1 to allow audio input and 0 to disallow it. The documented default is enabled, so an unconfigured setting already permits Sandbox audio input. An organization-wide profile therefore standardizes the allowed state across its managed, supported devices rather than necessarily turning on a feature that was off by default. Check Windows edition and build support
The CSP lists Windows Pro, Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise / IoT Enterprise LTSC. Its listed Windows 10 applicability begins with version 2004, build 19041.4950; version 20H2, build 19042.4950; and version 21H1, build 19043.4950. It also lists Windows 11 version 21H2, build 22000, and later. Check target devices against the maintained CSP documentation before a broad rollout, since edition and build determine applicability.
Configure the custom profile in Intune
Use a Windows custom configuration profile when the setting is not available in your tenant’s Settings catalog. Microsoft’s guidance for custom settings for Windows client devices in Intune uses OMA-URI settings to configure CSPs. The CSP setting must support Add, Replace, and Get operations for Intune; Microsoft documents those operations for AllowAudioInput.

- Create a Windows custom profile. In the Intune admin center, create a configuration profile for Windows devices and choose the custom profile option.
- Add the OMA-URI setting. Enter
./Device/Vendor/MSFT/Policy/Config/WindowsSandbox/AllowAudioInputexactly as the OMA-URI. - Set the value type and value. Choose Integer and enter
1to allow Sandbox audio input. Use0to disallow it. - Assign a pilot device group. Because this is a device-scoped setting, target the devices that should receive it rather than relying on an individual user assignment.
- Review deployment status. Check the profile’s device status in Intune and investigate errors or devices that have not checked in before expanding the assignment. Microsoft explains group assignment and device check-in delivery in its policy assignment guidance.
- Restart Windows Sandbox. Microsoft states that Sandbox must be restarted for policy changes to take effect. Confirm audio input in the intended use case after the restart.
Account for the security boundary
Allowing host audio input exposes that input to the Sandbox container. Microsoft cautions that this can have security implications. Apply the policy only to the device group whose users and workloads need the capability, and consider whether that exposure is acceptable for the organization’s threat model.

WindowsSandbox/AllowAudioInput governs whether Windows Sandbox can receive host audio input. The separate LetAppsAccessMicrophone setting in Microsoft’s Privacy Policy CSP governs microphone access for Windows apps, with choices that include user control, force allow, and force deny. It is not an alternative way to configure Sandbox audio input.

Intune policy or a .wsb file?

Microsoft’s Windows Sandbox configuration guidance documents the AudioInput setting in a .wsb file with values Enable, Disable, or Default; the current default enables audio input. A launch file is useful for an individual configuration, but it is not equivalent to centrally assigning a device policy through Intune.
