Repair Kits were described in an official New World release note as tier-matched items for repairing gear, but that description dates to the game’s alpha-era update on January 18, 2021. It does not confirm how Repair Kits work in the later live build. How Repair Kits were described in New World
In its January 18, 2021 “Honing the Craft” release note, Amazon Games described four Repair Kit tiers and wrote: “Repair Kits will repair any item of a corresponding tier.” The note also said Repair Kit recipes had been added to many crafting trade skills, letting crafters package and sell extra repair parts. What happened when gear reached zero durability
The same 2021 note said an item at zero durability would remain usable instead of automatically unequipping, but would perform at half gear score and lose its perks. Amazon Games’ exact description was: “Now when an item reaches 0 durability, it will have significantly reduced performance (half gear score, no perks), but it will still be usable and no longer automatically un-equips.” This describes the behavior announced then; whether it applies to the current build has not been established.
What an old Master Repair Kit recipe listing shows
A third-party New World Database entry for a Master Repair Kit lists the following requirements. The listing’s current accuracy is unverified, so treat it as a historical reference rather than a reliable current crafting recipe.

How to check Repair Kit details in your current game
No current official source confirms whether Repair Kits remain usable, whether durability still decreases, or whether the recipe and requirements above still apply. If you already own the game, use the live client rather than an old guide to verify what it currently supports:

Can new players still buy New World?
No. Amazon Games announced that New World: Aeternum was delisted on January 15, 2026. In-game purchases, including Marks of Fortune, ended on July 20, 2026. Players who bought the game can continue playing until the announced permanent server shutdown on January 31, 2027. Amazon Games also said it did not plan additional content or server merges, while bug and performance monitoring would continue. See Amazon Games’ shutdown and delisting notice.
