Microsoft’s Central Store page lists Windows 11 25H2 as its newest Windows 11 Administrative Templates package and Group Policy Settings Reference in the links reviewed here; it does not list 26H2. Administrators should check Microsoft’s current Central Store guidance before treating a 26H2 template package or spreadsheet as available. Separately, Windows Shared PC mode configures shared or guest devices through local Group Policy. These are related administrative tasks, but they are not the same thing.
Are Windows 11 26H2 Group Policy templates available?
The Microsoft Central Store article lists Windows 11 2025 Update (25H2), 24H2, and earlier releases among its Administrative Templates and Group Policy Settings Reference links. It does not list a 26H2 package or spreadsheet. That means 26H2-specific availability is unverified from this Microsoft listing—not proof that Microsoft will never publish one.

Use the Central Store page as the source of truth for the current Windows client template and reference links. Match the ADMX/ADML files and spreadsheet to the release you are administering, and do not infer that a release has a dedicated package merely because the release name appears elsewhere.

“Shared” can refer to two separate administrator needs. The Central Store holds Administrative Template files that Group Policy tools use to display and edit policy settings. Shared PC mode configures Windows devices intended for multiple users or guest use. Updating template files does not itself configure a device as a Shared PC.

Set up or manage the Central Store
Microsoft’s Central Store instructions explain how to create and manage the shared template repository for domain Group Policy administration. Microsoft says the downloadable ADMX packages are for the Central Store scenario and warns: “Replacing files in c:WindowsPolicyDefinitions isn’t supported.” Follow the instructions for the storage model you actually use rather than overwriting that local folder as a general update method.
Configure a shared or guest Windows device
For a device-configuration task, use Microsoft’s Configure a shared or guest Windows device guidance. The Shared PC technical reference identifies EnableSharedPCMode and EnableSharedPCModeWithOneDriveSync as policies that enable the mode, and describes the broader settings involved. Consult that reference for the complete behavior and configuration details instead of assuming that either enabling policy alone describes every resulting setting.

How to choose and apply the right policy
- Confirm the Windows release and template source. Check Microsoft’s Central Store page for the release-specific ADMX/ADML package and matching settings spreadsheet. The listing documented here reaches 25H2, not 26H2.
- Choose the applicable template-storage scenario. Use Microsoft’s Central Store instructions for a domain repository. Do not replace files in
C:WindowsPolicyDefinitionswith the downloaded package; Microsoft identifies that replacement as unsupported. - Check each setting’s applicability. Before deploying a policy, verify its supported Windows versions and editions, user or device scope, and configuration method. Microsoft’s ADMX_GroupPolicy Policy CSP documents setting-specific applicability and behavior; examples that cover Windows 11 21H2 and later do not establish identical support for every setting.
- Distinguish a policy from a preference. Microsoft explains in its Group Policy preferences guidance that enforced policy takes precedence if a policy and preference conflict. Users can change preference values, and a later Group Policy refresh can restore the configured preference.
- For Shared PC mode, follow its dedicated configuration reference. Use Microsoft’s shared-device instructions and technical reference to choose the intended mode, including whether the OneDrive-sync variant is appropriate.
When a product has its own templates
Some Windows applications publish separate Administrative Templates. For example, Microsoft documents distinct instructions for Group Policy for Windows Terminal. Such product-specific templates do not establish a Windows 11 26H2 baseline and do not replace the Windows client template links on the Central Store page.
