A PC can still run Windows 10 Pro, but standard support for Windows 10 Home and Pro ended on October 14, 2025. If you are deciding whether your computer is ready for continued use or a move to Windows 11, check Windows 11 eligibility separately: its requirements are not Windows 10 Pro installation requirements.
What Windows 10 Pro requirements can be confirmed?
Microsoft’s Windows 10 minimum hardware requirements document is available, but its contents could not be verified here. That means the specific Windows 10 Pro minimums for processor, memory, storage, graphics, firmware and display should not be inferred from Windows 11 requirements or from an unverified checklist. Consult an accessible Microsoft specification before using numeric requirements to plan a Windows 10 installation.

For an existing PC, a more immediate question is whether it can move to a supported operating system. Windows 10 version 22H2 was the final general release for Home and Pro. After support ended, Microsoft stopped providing those editions with regular security updates, quality fixes, feature updates and technical support. A computer does not stop working on that date, but continuing to use it without security updates carries a different support and security risk. Microsoft’s Windows 10 end-of-support guidance explains the change.

Windows 11 has its own published minimum requirements. A PC must meet the hardware baseline and use a compatible, approved processor; meeting the RAM or storage figure alone does not establish eligibility. Microsoft recommends checking the particular device rather than relying only on a generic list.

Check Windows Update for an upgrade
Open Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check whether Windows 11 is offered or your PC is reported as eligible. Microsoft says eligible devices can upgrade to the equivalent Windows 11 edition. Check the device’s actual eligibility rather than assuming that a qualifying RAM or storage amount guarantees an upgrade.
Consider Extended Security Updates if eligible
Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates (ESU) program provides critical and important security updates for eligible, enrolled Windows 10 systems. It does not restore regular feature updates or general technical support. Enrollment options, eligibility and timing can vary by region; consult Microsoft’s current ESU information for the terms that apply to your situation.

Assess whether the PC can be upgraded or should be replaced
If Windows 11 eligibility fails, ask the PC manufacturer or a hardware expert whether changes are possible for your specific model. A component change will not make every PC eligible, so do not assume that adding memory, storage or a TPM module is a universal fix. If the computer cannot transition and you need ongoing security updates, compare any supported upgrade or ESU option with moving to a Windows 11 PC. The practical choice depends on the machine’s upgradeability and support, your need for updates, and the cost and time involved. Microsoft’s transition guidance covers these paths.
