Grand Theft Auto VI is officially scheduled for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games’ current launch materials do not announce a PC version or PC release date, so PC compatibility remains unconfirmed. The game is not officially listed for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, or any other platform.
Which platforms are confirmed for GTA 6?
Rockstar Games has confirmed two console families for the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That means the game is planned for both Xbox Series X and the less-powerful Xbox Series S, rather than being limited to the flagship Xbox model.

The announced release date is November 19, 2026. Rockstar’s 2026 announcement describes the title as “a single player experience, coming November 19 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.” The wording identifies the launch systems and the single-player focus, but it does not provide technical specifications such as resolution, frame rate, installation size, or graphics modes.
Recommended Free Tools
At launch, the practical answer is therefore straightforward: owners of a PS5, Xbox Series X, or Xbox Series S are in the confirmed hardware group. A PC owner cannot yet assume that the game will be available on Windows on release day.
#1 Best Overall
- This product contains a download code inside the box — no disc is included. Customer shipments will begin arriving November 12 for pre-load; game is playable starting November 19. Code can only be used by users holding an account for PlayStation registered to the US or Canada.
- Pre-order to receive the Vintage Vice City Pack.
- Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.
Will GTA 6 run on PS5?
Yes. PlayStation 5 is an officially confirmed launch platform. PlayStation’s platform-holder announcement says that Grand Theft Auto VI “will play best on PS5 by taking advantage of PS5’s immersive features.” This establishes PS5 support and indicates that Rockstar is using platform-specific capabilities, although neither Rockstar nor PlayStation has published a complete list of those features in the launch information available.
Do you need a PS5 Pro?
No PS5 Pro requirement has been announced. Rockstar lists the PS5 platform generally, not a special PS5 Pro-only edition. A standard PS5 is therefore the supported baseline shown in the official announcement. Whether a PS5 Pro version will offer a different resolution, frame-rate mode, visual setting, or other enhancement is not established; those details should wait for official technical documentation or testing.
What PS5 features are confirmed?
The confirmed statement is broad: the game will take advantage of PS5 features. It does not specify DualSense functions, 3D audio modes, ray tracing, performance presets, HDR behavior, or a target frame rate. Treat those items as unconfirmed rather than assuming that every PS5 hardware feature will be used in a particular way.

Will GTA 6 work on Xbox Series X?
Yes. Xbox Series X is included in Rockstar’s confirmed Xbox Series X|S launch family. The same November 19, 2026 date applies to the Xbox release in the announcement currently available.
Rank #2
- STUNNING VISUALS — Enhanced levels of fidelity and performance with new graphics modes featuring up to 4K resolution, up to 60 frames per second, HDR options, ray tracing, improved texture quality, and more
- FASTER LOADING — Quicker access to the action as the world of Los Santos and Blaine County load in faster than ever before.
- ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS AND HAPTIC FEEDBACK — Feel every moment through the DualSense controller, from directional damage to weather effects, rough road surfaces to explosions, and more.
- TEMPEST 3D AUDIO — Hear the sounds of the world with pinpoint precision: the throttle of a stolen supercar, the rattle of neighbouring gunfire, the roar of a helicopter overhead, and more.
- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the European version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.
Rockstar has not published a Series X resolution target, frame-rate target, install size, or graphics-mode breakdown. Series X is the more powerful console in Microsoft’s current generation, but it is not accurate to promise a specific visual or performance advantage until Rockstar publishes those specifications or reliable independent testing exists.
Will GTA 6 work on Xbox Series S?
Yes. Xbox Series S is explicitly included in the confirmed Xbox Series X|S platform listing. That makes Series S a supported launch console, not an unofficial possibility.
The announcement does not explain how the Series S version will be configured. Resolution, frame rate, texture settings, storage use, and whether any graphics options differ from Series X are all unannounced. The fact that Series S is supported confirms compatibility, but it does not establish parity in every technical setting.

A PC version is not confirmed. The current Rockstar launch materials reviewed for the November 2026 release list only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and they do not provide a PC release date or minimum system requirements.

That means three separate questions remain unanswered for computer players:
- Whether a PC edition will be announced at all.
- When a PC edition might release if it is announced.
- What processor, graphics card, memory, operating-system version, storage, and graphics settings it would require.
Do not treat retailer listings, social-media posts, leaked specifications, or assumptions based on earlier games as confirmation. Until Rockstar publishes a PC announcement, the responsible answer is that PC support is unconfirmed.

What version should you buy?
Choose the edition that matches the console you own or plan to use. A PS5 copy is for PS5, while an Xbox Series X|S copy is for the Xbox Series family. The official materials do not announce a cross-buy entitlement between PlayStation and Xbox, so do not assume that purchasing one console version grants the other.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTake-Two Interactive’s cited 2026 investor release lists a $79.99 launch-product price in the market covered by that release. That figure should be treated as a market-specific launch price, not a universal worldwide price or a guarantee that every edition and retailer will charge the same amount. Check the currency, region, edition name, taxes, and delivery terms before purchasing.

How does the physical edition work?
Rockstar says the physical product contains a download code. It is therefore not safe to assume that a boxed copy contains all game data on a disc or cartridge that can be installed entirely offline.
- Confirm that the box is labeled for your console: PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.
- Check the code’s region restrictions and redemption requirements.
- Verify whether the code is unused before buying a second-hand copy.
- Plan for an internet connection and sufficient storage for the download.
The launch information does not state the download size, whether a disc is included alongside the code, or how long the code will remain redeemable. Those details need to come from the final product packaging or Rockstar’s support documentation.

Every confirmed platform should be treated as requiring a download, because the physical version uses a download code. However, Rockstar has not published the final installation size, preload schedule, required free space, or a minimum connection speed.
Before release, leave more free storage than the eventual download size if possible. Games commonly need temporary working space while files are downloaded, unpacked, and updated, but the amount required for this title has not been announced. Do not rely on an exact storage figure circulating online unless Rockstar publishes it.

The launch materials also do not define the internet requirements for first-time activation, updates, or online features. The confirmed description calls the game a single-player experience; that does not by itself establish whether an internet connection is needed for installation, authentication, patches, or any separate online component.
Can you expect the same performance on every console?
Compatibility and performance are different questions. Rockstar has confirmed that the game will run on PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, but it has not published frame-rate targets, resolution targets, graphics modes, loading-time measurements, or comparative settings.
Accordingly, avoid claims such as “60 frames per second on every console,” “native 4K,” “ray tracing on Series X,” or “lower settings on Series S” unless Rockstar provides those details or independent testing verifies them after release. The available evidence supports platform availability, not a performance ranking.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
PlayStation’s statement that the game will use PS5 immersive features is a platform-feature claim, not a promise of a particular resolution or frame rate. Similarly, inclusion in the Xbox Series X|S family confirms support for both Xbox models without specifying how their settings compare.
What platforms are not confirmed?
No official launch support has been found for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, or other consoles. These systems should be considered unconfirmed, not silently included because they run earlier versions of the series.
The absence of a PC announcement also means that cloud gaming, handheld-PC compatibility, and operating-system support cannot be established from the current launch information. A later announcement could change the platform list, but there is no confirmed date or specification to use today.
How to verify a later platform announcement
Use Rockstar Games’ official news and product pages as the primary check for any change. Look for an explicit platform name, release date, edition information, and system requirements rather than relying on a retailer placeholder.
Quick Recap
- Check whether Rockstar names the platform directly, such as “PC,” “PS5,” or “Xbox Series X|S.”
- Confirm that the announcement includes a release date or clearly labels the information as coming later.
- For PC, look for minimum and recommended specifications from Rockstar, not only a store listing.
- For console editions, match the product label to your exact system and region.
- For performance questions, wait for published technical details or independent testing; platform confirmation alone is not enough.
Bottom line for each reader
