Yes. Grand Theft Auto VI is confirmed for both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Rockstar’s official game page and Take-Two Interactive’s current launch announcement list Xbox Series X|S alongside PlayStation 5, with a release date of November 19, 2026. “Xbox Series X|S” is Microsoft’s shared platform label, so the announcement covers both consoles.
Rockstar has not announced a PC release date. Its recent pattern—console launches first for Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, followed by PC versions later—makes a later PC edition plausible, but it does not establish when one will arrive.

What is confirmed for Xbox
The platform question is settled by Rockstar’s own listing: GTA VI is being made for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That wording includes the higher-performance Series X and the less powerful, all-digital Series S. Neither console is being treated as a future possibility or a compatibility guess; both are named launch platforms.
Take-Two repeated the same platform list in its June 24, 2026 pre-order announcement, which also gives the launch price for the Standard Edition and repeats the November 19 date. Rockstar’s support documentation says customers can pre-order Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

What the Series X|S label does—and does not—tell you
The designation confirms platform support, but it does not provide resolution, frame-rate, storage, or graphics-mode specifications. Rockstar has not published a Series X-versus-Series S performance breakdown in the launch information currently available. Expect the game to be designed for both machines, while recognizing that visual settings and performance targets could differ between them once technical details are released.
When GTA 6 launches on Xbox
The announced worldwide launch date is November 19, 2026. That is the date attached to the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions in Take-Two’s current publishing materials. Release schedules, prices and edition details are publisher information and can still be changed before launch.
Pre-load timing
Rockstar says pre-loading starts at local midnight on November 12, 2026. The exact clock time therefore depends on the region associated with your Xbox account and console. Installing during the pre-load window lets the game files be on the console before release, but access remains locked until the official launch time.
Physical copies arrive before launch
Rockstar schedules physical copies from November 12, one week before release, to support pre-loading. The package does not contain a game disc: the box includes a download code for the game. On an Xbox Series S, which has no optical disc drive, that code is the relevant way to redeem a physical purchase. A code-based box still requires an internet connection and enough internal or expanded storage to download the game; Rockstar has not announced the final installation size.

How to play on Xbox at launch
- Choose a digital or physical purchase. Digital pre-orders can be made through the Xbox storefront when ordering opens. Physical packages contain a redemption code rather than a disc and are scheduled from November 12.
- Check the edition and account region. Rockstar says platform-account rules apply to codes. Xbox codes are not region-locked, while other platform codes can be region-sensitive, so verify the account country before redeeming a non-Xbox code.
- Install during pre-load. Xbox pre-loading begins at local midnight on November 12. Keep the console connected, allow automatic updates, and leave sufficient storage available for the download and any launch patch.
- Launch on November 19. The pre-loaded copy becomes playable at the publisher’s release time for your region. A pre-load is an installation step, not early access.
GTA 6 editions and current pricing
Rockstar’s August 18, 2026 support update identifies Standard and Ultimate editions. Take-Two’s June 24 announcement lists the following launch prices in U.S. dollars:
| Edition | Price | What is established | Delivery and bonuses |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $79.99 | Base GTA VI single-player experience; the announcement describes it as set in the series’ biggest and most immersive evolution yet. | Available digitally and through a physical box containing a download code. Digital pre-orders made before November 20 include the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+. |
| Ultimate | $99.99 | Includes the Standard Edition plus additional vehicles, weapons, clothing, locations and customization content, according to Rockstar’s support information. | Digital and physical availability is planned. The support update does not itemize every Ultimate bonus or assign separate values to the individual items. |
The $79.99 and $99.99 figures are the current U.S. prices published by Take-Two, not a guarantee of the final price in every country. Taxes, currency conversion and local storefront pricing can change what an Xbox buyer pays.
Pre-order bonuses
Digital pre-orders placed before November 20 include the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+. Physical copies include a download code for the game and the bonus pack. The wording describes a promotional eligibility window, so check the Xbox listing at checkout if you order close to or after launch.

Physical package
The physical retail package is not a disc-based backup. Rockstar says the box contains a download code for the game and bonus pack, with no disc inside. That means the code should be treated like a digital entitlement: protect the printed code, redeem it on the intended Xbox account and do not assume the box can be lent or resold after redemption.
Code-region rules
Rockstar’s support information says codes can be region-sensitive by platform account, while Xbox codes are not region-locked. “Not region-locked” does not remove the need to use a compatible Microsoft account and storefront; retailer listings can still carry country-specific terms, languages or taxes. Confirm the product description for your country before buying imported stock.
Is there a PC version at launch?
No simultaneous PC version is confirmed in the cited official launch materials. Rockstar’s current announcements name only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. They do not give a PC date, a PC pre-order page or PC system requirements.
Recommended Free Tools
That omission matters because Rockstar’s recent major releases have used a console-first rollout. Grand Theft Auto V launched on consoles before its later PC edition, and Red Dead Redemption 2 also reached consoles before PC, according to the release-history review summarized by PC Gamer. The pattern supports a careful conclusion: a later PC version is plausible, but its timing is unknown and should not be presented as a launch-day feature.

What you should not assume
- Do not treat a retailer’s unverified PC listing as an official date.
- Do not infer PC system requirements from the Xbox Series X|S announcement.
- Do not assume that a future PC version will launch alongside Xbox or share every edition bonus.
What about Xbox One?
Xbox One is not included in Rockstar’s announced platform list. The confirmed Xbox release is for the Series X|S generation. Unless Rockstar adds another platform, an Xbox One version should be treated as unannounced rather than assumed from backward compatibility.
Why the Series S confirmation is significant
Supporting Series S means Rockstar is committing to the Xbox Series generation’s lower-spec console as well as Series X. That is useful for buyers deciding whether an upgrade is necessary: the official platform list does not require a Series X purchase to access the game. It does not, however, promise identical image quality or frame-rate options. Those details require a technical specification from Rockstar or Microsoft.

The launch communications frame GTA VI as a major long-term release. Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement describes a single-player experience set in “the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet” and lists a $79.99 Standard Edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. In the original December 4, 2023 GTA VI announcement, Take-Two founder Sam Houser said: “Grand Theft Auto VI continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences.”

Xbox buyer checklist
- Confirm that the listing says Xbox Series X|S, not Xbox One.
- Choose Standard or Ultimate after checking which vehicles, weapons, clothing, locations and customization items matter to you.
- For a digital pre-order, verify the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+ are shown as included before November 20.
- For a physical purchase, remember that the box contains a download code and no disc.
- Redeem codes on the intended Xbox account; Xbox codes are described by Rockstar as not region-locked, but imported retail stock can still have country-specific terms.
- Plan for pre-loading at local midnight on November 12 and playing on November 19.
- Ignore any claimed PC date until Rockstar or Take-Two publishes one.
What remains unknown before release
Several practical details are still pending: the Xbox download size, Series X and Series S resolution and frame-rate modes, the exact release hour in each market, multiplayer-specific availability, and PC plans. None of those gaps change the confirmed platform answer, but they do affect storage planning and purchase decisions. Watch Rockstar’s support pages and the Xbox storefront for updates rather than relying on placeholder retailer data.
