A Secretlab chair fits only when its armrests clear the desk’s lowest underside obstruction, its wheelbase can roll between the legs or panels, and the seat height still lets your feet rest securely. Drawers, aprons, cable trays and crossbars often sit lower than the desktop and determine the real clearance.
Measure the assembled chair and desk together at the settings you will actually use. Compare the chair’s armrest height, entry width, wheelbase diameter and seat-height range, then leave extra room for tilting and height adjustments.

What determines whether the chair fits?
Four measurements control the result:
- Vertical clearance: floor to the desk’s lowest underside point versus floor to the top of each armrest.
- Entry width: the clear opening between desk legs, side panels or pedestals versus the chair’s armrest-to-armrest and seatbase widths.
- Floor footprint: the wheelbase and caster path must pass under the desk without striking a leg, pedestal or rear panel.
- Usable seat height: the chair must go low enough for your feet to stay flat while your arms remain comfortable at the desk.
Check all four. A chair can clear the underside but still fail because the wheelbase cannot enter, or because the seat must be raised so high that your feet dangle.

Measure the desk’s true underside clearance
Find the lowest obstruction
With the desk on its normal floor position, measure from the floor to the lowest point beneath the desktop at the opening where the chair will sit. Check the front apron, drawer box, cable-management tray, modesty panel, crossbar and any power or monitor hardware. Measure at several points from left to right; the smallest number is the clearance that matters.

Do not use the advertised desktop height as a substitute. A 735 mm desktop can have a drawer or apron that leaves substantially less room, while a higher desktop with an open frame may provide more usable chair clearance.
Account for movement, not just a static gap
Leave a margin above the armrests. When you recline or tilt the seat, the armrests can rise or move relative to the underside. Secretlab’s instruction manual warns: “Ensure your armrests are not wedged under the desk when you push your chair in and avoid setting the armrests at a height that will cause the armrest tops to come into contact with the bottom of your desk when you tilt your seat.”
Measure with the seat at its normal working height and the armrests at the height you use for typing. Then test the lowest and highest settings you might reasonably select. If contact occurs in any normal position, treat the arrangement as a poor fit rather than forcing the chair underneath.

Armrest-to-armrest and seatbase widths
The TITAN Evo’s outer width changes by size and by armrest position. The seatbase figures include the side bolsters; the armrest span is the widest entry dimension you usually need to clear.

Measure your desk opening at the narrowest point. Compare it with both the armrest span and the seatbase width, because a chair that enters with the armrests turned or adjusted inward can still have its seat sides collide with a panel.
Wheelbase and caster path
The Small and Regular TITAN Evo use a 70 cm wheelbase; the XL uses an 80 cm wheelbase. Measure the clear distance between the desk’s front legs or side panels and check the path all the way to the rear. Turn the chair slightly as you roll it in: the casters sweep through more space than a single point, and a rear panel or pedestal can block the final few centimetres.
Also check the floor around the desk. A thick rug, floor trim or a raised cable cover can reduce the effective space and make the chair catch even when the nominal dimensions appear compatible.

Seat height and foot support
The TITAN Evo seatbase ranges from 45 to 52 cm on Small and Regular and from 46 to 55.5 cm on XL. Set the chair low enough for both feet to sit firmly on the floor while your knees remain comfortable. If the desk requires a higher seat for arm or monitor alignment and your feet no longer reach the floor, Secretlab recommends its Premium Footrest or Professional Footrest. A footrest improves leg support; it does not create extra clearance under the desk.

Choose the right TITAN Evo size before checking the desk
Secretlab’s current sizing guide lists these height ranges:

The ranges overlap. A taller user may fall within both Regular and XL, so compare your current chair rather than selecting by height alone. Secretlab specifically recommends comparing your current backrest height and width, seatbase width, height-adjustment range and floor-to-seatbase height with the candidate chair.
Size affects desk fit directly: XL has the widest armrest span, the widest seatbase and an 80 cm wheelbase. If your desk opening is narrow, those dimensions can be decisive even when the user-height recommendation is appropriate.
Desk heights and Secretlab’s own desks
Secretlab publishes the following desk dimensions:

These are specifications for those models, not a universal minimum height for every third-party desk. The adjustable models let you raise the work surface if the armrests touch an underside obstruction. Their 20 mm tabletops also leave more room for an armrest to slide under the front edge, provided no drawer or frame member hangs lower.

Secretlab says its MAGNUS desks are designed for use with Secretlab chairs. That pairing does not remove the need to check your assembled configuration, especially when accessories, monitor arms or cable hardware change the underside.
How to perform a complete fit test
- Clear the area. Remove objects under the desk and place the desk where you normally use it. Include rugs and cable covers that will remain in place.
- Record the lowest desk point. Measure floor to the bottom of every obstruction across the chair opening. Keep the smallest measurement.
- Assemble and configure the chair. Install the casters and armrests, set the seat height and armrest height you use for work, and unlock the tilt mechanism if you normally recline.
- Measure the armrests. Measure from the floor to the top of each armrest. Use the higher side if the two measurements differ.
- Compare the vertical numbers. The armrest top must remain below the lowest desk point with room for tilt and height changes. Do not count a tight, rubbing contact as clearance.
- Measure the opening. Compare the narrowest distance between legs, panels or pedestals with the chair’s armrest span and seatbase width for your chosen size.
- Check the wheelbase path. Roll the chair straight in and at slight angles. Confirm that all casters and the rear of the base avoid legs, crossbars and rear panels.
- Check your posture. At the working seat height, place both feet flat and keep your elbows supported. If the seat must be raised beyond comfortable foot support, plan for a footrest or a different desk height.
- Test tilt and movement. Push the chair fully in, tilt the backrest and raise or lower the armrests through your normal range. Stop if any part contacts the desk.
Adjustments when the fit is borderline
Raise the desk or lower the chair
If the armrests are only slightly too high, raise an adjustable desk or lower the chair while preserving flat-footed support. Recheck monitor and keyboard height after either change. A lower chair is not a solution if it forces your knees or wrists into an uncomfortable position.
Move the armrests inward
Secretlab’s FAQ says the armrest tops can slide inward. For a closer position, the armrest mounts can be shifted under the seat using the three M8 screws. Make adjustments symmetrically, tighten the hardware securely and repeat the width and clearance checks. Moving the armrests inward can help an entry-width problem; it cannot solve a wheelbase collision or a low drawer that still catches the armrest tops.
Leave the chair outside
When clearance works only at the lowest setting, or the armrests touch during tilt, keep the chair in front of the desk rather than wedging it underneath. Repeated contact can damage the desk, armrest pads or chair mechanism and makes it harder to get in and out safely.

Common fit failures and fixes
The desktop is high enough, but the armrests hit
The obstruction is probably a drawer, apron or cable tray. Measure that component directly, then raise the desk, lower the chair or move the armrests inward. Do not rely on the desktop’s advertised height.
The chair enters but cannot roll fully under
Check the wheelbase diameter and the caster path. The XL’s 80 cm base needs more turning room than the 70 cm Small and Regular bases. A leg that clears the front edge can still block the base farther back.
The armrests clear, but the seat sides catch
Compare the opening with the seatbase width: 53 cm Small, 56 cm Regular or 58 cm XL. Measure at the narrowest point, including side panels and any under-desk storage.
Your feet do not reach the floor
Lower the seat if possible without losing a comfortable elbow position. If the desk height requires a higher seat, use a suitable footrest for support. The footrest addresses leg position, not underside clearance.
The chair fits until you recline
Recheck with the chair tilted. Secretlab warns against wedging the armrests under the desk because the tops can contact the underside as the seat tilts. Increase the clearance, change the armrest setting or leave the chair outside when reclined.
A practical pass-or-fail rule
- Likely fit: the armrests clear the lowest obstruction with movement margin, the wheelbase passes the legs and panels, and the chair rolls in without contact.
- Borderline: clearance works only with the chair or armrests at their lowest setting, or contact occurs while tilting. Raise the desk, lower the chair, reposition the armrests or keep the chair outside.
- Does not fit: any armrest contact, wheelbase collision or insufficient entry width remains after reasonable adjustment. Do not force the chair underneath.
For a purchase decision, write down the four limiting measurements—lowest underside height, armrest-top height, narrowest opening and wheelbase path—using the exact chair size and settings you intend to use. That record is more reliable than a desk-height label or a product pairing claim.
