Most disappearing aircraft and boats in GTA 5 are caused by vehicle ownership and compatibility, not by the vehicle vanishing at random. In modded single-player, Rockstar disables multiplayer vehicles unless a trainer or spawner restores support. DLC vehicles can also be unloaded when you leave them unless a persistence script protects them. In FiveM, OneSync can migrate or cull entities that leave a player’s scope. Crashes usually point to a different class of problem: outdated hooks after a game patch, excessive add-on content, or faulty vehicle models and metadata.
Use the troubleshooting path below to identify which case you have before changing files. The correct fix depends on your platform, GTA V edition (Legacy or Enhanced), trainer, vehicle model and whether you are running FiveM.

First, identify the failure you are seeing
“Disappears” and “crashes” are not the same fault. Note exactly when the problem occurs, because each symptom narrows the diagnosis.

| Symptom | Most likely class of cause | What to check first |
|---|---|---|
| The plane or boat appears, then is gone after you walk or drive away | Vehicle persistence or scope rules | Single-player no-despawn/persistence support, or FiveM OneSync ownership |
| A multiplayer or DLC vehicle will not spawn in single-player | Rockstar’s single-player vehicle restrictions | Use a trainer or add-on spawner that explicitly enables those vehicles |
| The game crashes immediately after spawning | Outdated hook, bad model, invalid metadata or memory pressure | Disable recently added scripts and inspect the crash message |
Infinite loading or ERR_FIL_PACK_1 |
Too many or too-large add-on packs | Gameconfig, heap adjustment and DLC-pack count |
ERR_STR_FAILURE_3 while loading a vehicle |
Model or texture data problem | Polygon count, base value, materials and embedded textures |
| Crash when entering the vehicle | Handling or vehicle layout mismatch | vehicles.meta handling and layout references |
Before troubleshooting, record the game build, edition, launcher, trainer or spawner, vehicle name, installed scripts and (for FiveM) the server and OneSync setting. A crash log or exact error text is much more useful than a description such as “the plane is broken.”

Why single-player deletes or unloads spawned aircraft and boats
Multiplayer vehicles are not automatically supported in single-player
Rockstar disables multiplayer cars in single-player. The same restriction affects many aircraft and boats introduced for multiplayer or supplied as DLC. A standard trainer may show a model name but still fail to create a usable, persistent entity unless it has been updated to restore single-player support. Community troubleshooting guidance notes that most maintained trainers add this support after a game update, but older trainers can stop working.
This is a compatibility limitation, not proof that the vehicle file is corrupt. Test a known single-player vehicle first. If that works while a multiplayer or DLC aircraft disappears, replace the spawner with an add-on vehicle spawner or maintained trainer that states it supports those vehicles and your current game build.
Leaving the area can unload an unprotected entity
GTA V streams world entities to manage memory. A vehicle created by a trainer or script may be removed when it is no longer considered important, especially after you travel a substantial distance, change interiors or reload a save. A persistence or no-despawn script changes that behavior by keeping loaded vehicles protected. It does not repair a bad model, and it cannot make an incompatible trainer work.

Boats have extra state to preserve
Boats can be affected by anchor, water and respawn logic in addition to ordinary vehicle persistence. A vehicle-management script may expose separate boat controls, submersible support, respawn options and world persistence. If a boat vanishes when you leave it anchored, or returns in an unexpected place after loading a save, check the script’s boat-control and persistence settings rather than treating it as an aircraft-spawn problem.
Single-player repair procedure
1. Reproduce the issue without mods
- Close GTA V and make a backup of your modded folders and save files.
- Temporarily rename or remove the script loader, trainer and custom scripts so the game starts clean. Do not delete your originals; the goal is a reversible test.
- Launch single-player and spawn a stock vehicle through the unmodified game. Then test the same action with your custom vehicle only after the clean test succeeds.
If the clean installation still crashes, use the general PC repair steps later in this article. If the clean installation works, restore mods one at a time until the disappearing vehicle or crash returns. The last component restored is the first suspect.

2. Align GTA V, Script Hook V, ScriptHookVDotNet and the trainer
Update these components as a set after every GTA V patch. ScriptHookVDotNet scripts rely on game offsets, so a game update can invalidate a previously working script even when the script’s files have not changed. If a script begins crashing immediately after an update, disable it until its author publishes a compatible build. Do not keep launching repeatedly with a known-outdated hook; repeated failures make it harder to identify the original fault.
- Check the GTA V build shown by your launcher.
- Install the current Script Hook V release for that build.
- Install the matching ScriptHookVDotNet release and its required files.
- Update the trainer or spawner last, then test with only one vehicle-related script enabled.
Legacy and Enhanced are separate compatibility targets. A file marked for Enhanced is not automatically safe on Legacy, and a script made for Legacy may not load correctly on Enhanced. Read the current compatibility notes for every download before copying it into the game directory.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3. Use a spawner that supports DLC and multiplayer vehicles
For single-player add-on vehicles, use a maintained add-on vehicle spawner or trainer that explicitly lists DLC or multiplayer vehicle support. Community guidance names Add-On Vehicle Spawner, Enhanced Native Trainer, Simple Trainer and Menyoo as examples of tools used for this purpose; their compatibility changes with game patches, so the name alone is not a guarantee.
Spawn the vehicle by its exact model name, not a display name copied from a video. A typo can produce a missing model or cause the trainer to fall back to an invalid entry. If the vehicle appears briefly and disappears, test another DLC vehicle from the same pack. A single failing model points toward its files; every DLC vehicle failing points toward the trainer, hook or game build.
4. Add persistence only after spawning works
A persistence script is appropriate when the vehicle spawns correctly but disappears after you move away, switch areas or reload. Choose one that states support for your edition. One current no-despawn script for GTA V Enhanced says it protects DLC vehicles created by trainers, vehicle mods or other scripts and automatically protects loaded vehicles. Its installation requires Script Hook V and ScriptHookVDotNet Enhanced, with NoDespawn.cs placed in the game’s scripts folder.

- Confirm that the script’s page lists your GTA V edition and current build.
- Install its stated prerequisites first.
- Copy
NoDespawn.csto the specifiedscriptsdirectory. - Start with one spawned vehicle and walk far enough away to trigger the original disappearance.
- Verify that the same vehicle remains available before enabling additional persistence features.
If the game now crashes, remove the persistence script and retest. A no-despawn script can expose a model or memory problem by keeping a defective or oversized vehicle loaded continuously.

5. Configure boats separately
For boats, inspect the vehicle-management script’s anchor, respawn and persistence options. Advanced Persistence & Vehicle Management documents a Boat Control app, submersible support, vehicle respawn and vehicle/player/world persistence. Enable only the features you need, then test an ordinary boat before testing a custom model. If an anchored boat is deliberately returned by a respawn rule, that is configuration behavior rather than random despawning.
What causes crashes after adding aircraft or boats
Out-of-date hooks and scripts
A crash that starts on the first launch after a GTA V update is usually version-sensitive. Disable ScriptHookVDotNet scripts and the trainer, confirm that the base game loads, then update each component for the new build. The script that appears in a log or the one restored immediately before the crash is the component to isolate first.
Too many add-on packs and insufficient memory headroom
Large vehicle collections create a separate loading and memory problem. An infinite load or ERR_FIL_PACK_1 commonly means the gameconfig is not suited to the number of add-ons, the heap is too small for the installed content, or the DLC pack count is excessive.
- Install a gameconfig intended for the approximate number of add-on packs you use.
- Install a compatible heap adjuster when the gameconfig instructions require one.
- Remove duplicate or unused DLC packs and test again.
- If the error remains, merge or reduce packs instead of adding more memory patches blindly.
Change one variable at a time and keep a list of removed files. A game that loads with half the pack can still fail when the remaining models are all loaded together; the test is about total load, not just the identity of one aircraft.

Model and texture limits
ERR_STR_FAILURE_3 while spawning a vehicle indicates a problem worth inspecting in the model itself. Check the polygon count, base value, materials and embedded textures. A model with unusually dense geometry or oversized embedded textures can exceed what the game handles reliably even when its name and spawn entry are correct.
Invalid handling or layout references
If the crash occurs as you enter the plane or boat rather than when it first appears, inspect the vehicle’s vehicles.meta references. The handling identifier must resolve to a valid entry, and the layout must match the vehicle’s seats and controls. A mismatch can allow the model to appear in the world but crash when the game initializes the driver’s or pilot’s position.
General PC installation problems
For crashes unrelated to a particular mod, apply Rockstar’s standard PC checks: install current game patches and graphics drivers, update the Rockstar Games Launcher, verify game files, and confirm that DirectX, Visual C++ components and system requirements are present. Perform these checks with mods disabled so a damaged base file is not confused with a script fault.

FiveM uses networked entity ownership rather than single-player streaming alone. Cfx.re’s OneSync documentation explains that entities not owned by a script can be reassigned and, when reassignment is impossible, culled when they leave player scope. Script-owned entities can also become unowned by a player when they are out of scope and enter a server-owned state. Consequently, a plane or boat can vanish when its creator flies or sails beyond the configured scope even though the model itself is valid.
Fix the resource that creates the entity
- Identify the server resource that calls the vehicle-creation native. Do not troubleshoot only the client trainer if the vehicle is created by server code.
- Make the resource retain script ownership or mission-entity status where appropriate for that vehicle’s lifetime.
- Handle ownership migration explicitly. When the controlling player leaves scope or disconnects, the resource should keep, transfer or recreate the entity according to the server’s intended behavior.
- Review OneSync scope distance and test with two players. Have one player create the vehicle while the other remains near it, then move the creator away and observe whether the server preserves the entity.
- Persist the vehicle’s model, position, heading, damage and other required state in the resource if it must survive player disconnects or a resource restart.
Do not force every entity to remain forever. Permanent aircraft and boats can increase server memory use and clutter the world. Decide whether the resource should despawn abandoned vehicles, and implement that policy deliberately rather than relying on accidental culling.

Distinguish a server lifetime issue from a client crash
If every nearby player sees the vehicle disappear at the same moment, investigate server ownership, scope and resource cleanup. If only one client crashes while others still see the vehicle, investigate that client’s model files, graphics memory and resource download. If the entire server stalls when the vehicle appears, inspect the resource’s creation loop and the vehicle asset’s size.
How to isolate a bad vehicle mod
- Disable all custom aircraft and boats except one known-good model.
- Spawn a stock vehicle, then a different custom vehicle from the same pack.
- Compare behavior with and without persistence enabled.
- Check the model’s entry, handling identifier, layout and texture files for spelling and case errors.
- Remove the suspect model and confirm that the game and other vehicles remain stable.
A single model that produces ERR_STR_FAILURE_3 or crashes on entry should be repaired or replaced; changing the gameconfig will not correct malformed geometry or metadata. Conversely, if every custom vehicle fails after a patch, prioritize the hook, trainer and loader versions before editing individual model files.
Common mistakes that make the problem worse
- Updating only the trainer: the trainer cannot compensate for an incompatible Script Hook V or ScriptHookVDotNet build.
- Installing a Legacy file on Enhanced: edition-specific scripts and offsets are not interchangeable.
- Adding persistence to a broken model: keeping a defective asset loaded can turn a disappearance into a repeatable crash.
- Installing several memory patches at once: you lose the ability to identify which change helped or introduced instability.
- Ignoring exact error text:
ERR_FIL_PACK_1,ERR_STR_FAILURE_3and an entry crash point to different repairs. - Testing only after a long play session: reproduce with one vehicle and a short, repeatable route so each change has a clear result.
- Taking a modded installation into GTA Online: the cited community guidance states that playing GTA Online on a modded installation is prohibited. Keep a clean installation or clean files for online play.
A decision checklist
- Vehicle never appears: verify the model name, trainer support and DLC/add-on installation.
- Vehicle appears, then disappears in single-player: add edition-matched persistence or no-despawn support after confirming the spawn itself is stable.
- Vehicle disappears in FiveM when the creator leaves: fix OneSync scope and script ownership in the server resource.
- Crash starts after a game patch: update or disable the hook, ScriptHookVDotNet scripts and trainer together.
- Infinite load or
ERR_FIL_PACK_1: reduce DLC load and use a suitable gameconfig and heap adjustment. ERR_STR_FAILURE_3: inspect model geometry, base value, materials and textures.- Crash on entry: inspect
vehicles.metahandling and layout references.
What information to include when asking for help
A useful support report includes:
- GTA V Legacy or Enhanced, game build and PC launcher.
- Single-player or FiveM, plus the OneSync setting if applicable.
- Trainer, spawner, loader, Script Hook V and ScriptHookVDotNet versions.
- Exact aircraft or boat model name and the vehicle pack it came from.
- The moment of failure: spawn, leaving scope, entering, loading a save or restarting the resource.
- Exact error text, crash log lines and whether a stock vehicle works.
- Approximate number of add-on DLC packs and any gameconfig or heap changes.
Those details separate a persistence rule from a bad asset and a version mismatch from a memory limit, which prevents destructive trial-and-error.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does a plane disappear only after I walk away in single-player?
The vehicle is being unloaded because it is not protected by a persistence or no-despawn script. Confirm that it spawns reliably, then install a script that supports your GTA V edition and current hook versions.
Can a trainer fix every disappearing DLC vehicle?
No. The trainer must support DLC or multiplayer vehicles for your game build, and the individual model still needs valid files and metadata. A persistence script addresses unloading, not a broken model.
Why does my FiveM boat vanish when the owner disconnects?
OneSync can migrate or cull entities that leave player scope. The resource that created the boat must retain script or mission ownership and decide how to persist or recreate it after ownership changes.
What should I do if the game crashes only with a large aircraft pack?
Treat it as a loading and memory issue: use a gameconfig suited to the add-on count, add a compatible heap adjustment if required, and remove or merge packs until the game loads reliably.
