Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit ’26 felt exciting to PhoneArena Editor-in-Chief Rad Slavov because its keynote made technology feel like an event: red lighting, a countdown, darkness, music and dramatic sound, followed by presenters who, in his view, brought energy and command of their subjects. That is one attendee’s judgment, not proof that Qualcomm puts on objectively better events than Apple or Samsung.
What Slavov thought Qualcomm got right
Slavov’s October 2, 2026 PhoneArena editorial grew out of his attendance at Snapdragon Summit ’26. He says the keynote stood out for its presentation and personality, not because it revealed a new flagship phone or a camera breakthrough. His central point is that a technology presentation can make the work feel exciting by combining purposeful staging with speakers who seem engaged in what they are explaining.

The opening made the keynote feel like an occasion
Slavov describes red lighting, a countdown, darkness, music and dramatic sound as the opening sequence. Those production choices, as he experienced them, created anticipation before the technical material began.

The speakers carried the technical story
He singles out Don McGuire for an energetic opening, Cristiano Amon for a content-rich speech he found accessible, and Chris Patrick and Lekha Motiwala for engaging technical presentations. These are Slavov’s observations about their stage presence and delivery, not independent evaluations of the presenters.

His reaction is summed up in his own words: “And this is why I thoroughly enjoyed Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit keynote, because it convinced me I’m part of something cool.”
Why he says other launches can feel less lively
Slavov offers a theory rather than a measured comparison: technical specialists may not have much presentation experience, scripted delivery can feel stiff, and large companies may be cautious about live demonstrations. He contrasts the Summit with his impressions of Steve Jobs-era Apple presentations, Apple’s more recent launch format, Samsung Unpacked and Google I/O.

In his view, Apple’s events have shifted toward highly produced, prerecorded presentations after COVID; some Samsung presenters have appeared unfamiliar with their products; and Google I/O delivery can feel stiff. These are his criticisms and interpretations, not established judgments about every event, presenter or audience. The sources available do not quantify audience response or establish that one company’s keynotes outperform another’s.

PhoneArena’s editorial links to Samsung’s official July 2026 Unpacked replay and a Qualcomm Summit Day 1 keynote replay, which let readers form their own impressions. Viewing those events can inform a personal comparison, but it cannot by itself turn one attendee’s reaction into an industry-wide verdict.
The technology context is separate from the presentation verdict
Qualcomm’s history helps explain why Snapdragon is part of a broader technology story, but it does not prove anything about keynote quality. In a December 8, 2020 company history, Qualcomm engineer Gil Sih described the company’s work integrating capabilities such as audio, Bluetooth, GPS, video encoding and decoding, camera processing and graphics into mobile chipsets. Sih’s account says Qualcomm introduced its first Snapdragon-branded processor in 2012, combining a quad-core CPU, programmable GPU shader core, dual-camera support and 4K video capability.

Qualcomm’s newsroom listing also records a September 22, 2026 announcement about mobile SoCs. Its title calls two chips among the “world’s fastest,” but that is Qualcomm’s characterization; the listing alone is not independent comparative benchmark evidence. Neither product history nor a company announcement establishes that a particular Snapdragon-powered phone is the right purchase for a reader.
What the argument does—and does not—establish
Slavov’s editorial makes a persuasive case for taking presentation craft seriously: energy, production and accessible technical explanations can make a keynote memorable. Its comparison remains personal, however. It does not provide controlled scoring, audience research or independent evidence that Qualcomm’s events are categorically better than Apple’s or Samsung’s. The useful takeaway is to evaluate the performance and the product claims separately.
