A blank or incomplete LambdaTest screenshot does not point to one confirmed cause. First identify which workflow created it—a screenshot test or a Selenium automation session—then check whether that run completed and whether its screenshot artifact is available. From there, investigate capture settings, page readiness and capture scope as possibilities to test, not established LambdaTest faults.
Start by identifying which LambdaTest workflow took the screenshot
LambdaTest documents separate screenshot-related paths for screenshot tests and Selenium automation sessions. They produce different kinds of results, so use the workflow that matches how you captured the image.

- Screenshot test: Check the screenshot test’s status and retrieve its associated screenshot details or zipped screenshots through that workflow.
- Selenium automation session: Check the session and retrieve its step-by-step screenshot artifact through the session workflow.
The available API documentation describes these operations but does not identify a confirmed cause or fix for blank or incomplete images. A missing artifact, an image that exists but is blank, and a cropped image are different symptoms; record which one you have before changing anything.

- Record the identifiers and setup. Note the test or session ID, URL, browser and operating system, viewport or device, capture method, and approximate capture time. Record whether you expected a viewport image or a full-page image.
- Confirm that the run completed. Inspect the matching test or session rather than relying only on a report or downloaded file.
- Check whether an artifact exists in that workflow. If no screenshot is available, investigate whether capture was enabled and whether the report or export you are viewing includes screenshots.
- Compare the artifact with the live session. If an image exists but is blank or cropped, determine whether the page looked that way in the browser and whether the capture scope matches what you intended.
These checks follow the distinction between LambdaTest’s documented screenshot-test and session-screenshot paths. They are a practical diagnostic sequence, not a list of root causes confirmed by LambdaTest.

Investigate incomplete or unexpected images one variable at a time
Capture settings and exports
Check the actual tool and report configuration that produced the image. Screenshot behavior can depend on capture and export settings in testing products generally: for example, Testsigma documents options to capture screenshots always, only on failure, or not at all, as well as screenshot options for PDF reports. Those are Testsigma settings, not evidence that LambdaTest uses the same controls. Do not assume an export contains screenshots just because the underlying run did.
Page readiness and rendering
If the artifact exists but does not show the expected page, check whether the page had finished rendering when capture occurred. Reproduce the run and vary the readiness or wait condition as a controlled test. Timing is a hypothesis to investigate; the cited LambdaTest API material does not establish it as a known cause.

Capture scope and viewport
Check whether the workflow captured the visible viewport or the full page, and compare the configured viewport with the result you expected. A LambdaTest-hosted legacy Selenium RC code example distinguishes an OS viewport screenshot from an entire-page screenshot and mentions a black-background issue in a specific layout context. That older, specific example is not a diagnosis of current LambdaTest screenshot services. Verify the behavior of your current capture method rather than assuming the legacy example applies.

Browser and device differences
Repeat the capture with the same URL and settings, changing only the browser or device configuration if needed. A difference can help narrow the conditions associated with the symptom, but by itself does not establish whether the site, browser, capture workflow, or another factor is responsible.
Use a controlled reproduction
- Keep the URL, test steps and capture method fixed.
- Save the original image and note whether it is absent, blank, or cropped.
- Change one factor per run—for example, page readiness, capture scope, or browser/device—and compare artifacts.
- Keep each run or session identifier with its corresponding image so you can trace the result to the correct workflow.
This method helps isolate a variable without treating an unverified possibility as a LambdaTest-specific fix.
What to send support if the issue persists
Provide a reproducible URL if it is shareable, the test or session ID, browser and device configuration, capture method, approximate timestamp, and the original image. Include whether the run completed and whether an artifact was present in the matching workflow. This is a useful troubleshooting packet, not a product-specific escalation requirement established by the cited documentation.

Or skip the browser setup
If your goal is to capture a website rather than diagnose a LambdaTest run, ScreenshotNeo offers a screenshot API and MCP server. Its API returns a screenshot or PDF from one GET request; the example below saves a WebP screenshot of Stripe. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for options.

- Cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before capture; each of these steps can be turned off.
- Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed; responses indicate the page verdict and billing status in headers.
- An MCP server provides the tools
take_screenshot,get_page_info, andcapture_pdffor AI agents and MCP clients. - The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a blank image prove LambdaTest is down?
No. The available LambdaTest API documentation does not establish a single cause for blank screenshots or tie them to an outage.
Can I use a legacy Selenium RC screenshot example to diagnose a current capture?
Treat it only as a narrow historical reference. It distinguishes viewport and entire-page screenshots and describes a specific black-background context, but does not establish current LambdaTest service behavior.
