Missing images or fonts in an ApiFlash screenshot usually point to capture timing, lazy-loaded content, how the page serves its assets, custom headers, or a cached result. Check those factors in that order; without the target URL and request settings, no single cause can be confirmed.
Check when ApiFlash takes the screenshot
ApiFlash documents three wait_until conditions. The default is network_idle, but the best choice depends on how the page loads its content.

| Setting | What ApiFlash waits for | When to try it |
|---|---|---|
dom_loaded |
The initial HTML document; it does not wait for stylesheets and images. | When the page is simple and the content needed for the shot is present with the initial document. |
page_loaded |
The page and its dependent resources. | When images, stylesheets, or other resources need time to load. |
network_idle |
The page to load and network activity to become idle. This is the documented default. | When the page settles after loading and does not keep making requests. |
A page with continuous network activity may never reach a useful idle state. In that case, use a readiness condition tied to the content you need rather than assuming the initial HTML means everything is ready. See the ApiFlash API documentation.

Some pages load images only after they approach the visible area or after a script runs. Use ApiFlash’s wait_for parameter with a CSS selector that appears when the relevant content is ready. The selector wait has a documented 15-second limit; if the selector does not appear within that time, the wait aborts.

- INCREDIBLE CONTRAST: The VA panel produces brighter whites and deeper blacks. You get true-to-life images and more gradients with 16.7 million colors
- THE PERFECT VIEW: The 178/178 degree extra wide viewing angle prevents the shifting of colors when viewed from an offset angle, so you always get consistent colors

- A BETTER READING EXPERIENCE: For busy office workers, EasyRead mode provides a more paper-like experience for when viewing lengthy documents
If scrolling triggers image loading or animations, enable scroll_page=true. A fixed delay can add up to 10 seconds after page load, but ApiFlash recommends using wait_for or an appropriate wait_until condition where possible: those check for a state rather than waiting an arbitrary amount of time. Parameter limits and behavior are documented in the ApiFlash API documentation and ApiFlash FAQ.
Diagnose a missing font
Check whether the page depends on a system font
ApiFlash captures with Chrome on Linux. If a site relies on a font installed locally on your Windows or macOS computer rather than serving that font with the page, the screenshot can use a different font or fallback. Serve the intended font through a web-font service or host it yourself and declare it with @font-face.

Test whether custom headers affect external fonts
ApiFlash says its headers parameter applies to all requests, including requests for external fonts. Headers added for authentication can therefore affect those font requests and may trigger browser security restrictions. Try the capture without the custom headers, or adjust them and compare. If authentication is needed, ApiFlash lists headers and cookies as options; use the method that fits the target site’s authentication setup. Self-hosting the font is another way to avoid reliance on an external font request. ApiFlash’s FAQ says, “The only reliable solution is to make your website serve its own fonts.”

Rule out a cached screenshot
ApiFlash may return a cached screenshot for identical API parameters. Set fresh=true to request a new capture. The ttl parameter controls cache duration and is documented as ranging from 0 to 2,592,000 seconds (30 days). Use fresh=true when checking whether a change to the page or capture settings fixed the result. See the API documentation and FAQ.

Use this troubleshooting sequence
- Choose a readiness condition: inspect
wait_until. The documented default isnetwork_idle; trypage_loadedif dependent resources need to finish loading, or a page-specificwait_forselector when a particular piece of content signals readiness. - Trigger lazy loading: set
scroll_page=trueif scrolling is what loads the missing content. Make sure yourwait_forselector matches an element that actually appears, and account for its 15-second limit. - Check the font source: determine whether the intended font is served by the page, delivered by a web-font service, or expected to exist as a local system font. A system-only dependency can differ in ApiFlash’s Linux Chrome environment.
- Isolate custom headers: retry without the
headersparameter, if possible, to see whether external font requests are affected. If authentication prevents that test, consider whether cookies are appropriate for the target site. - Request a fresh capture: set
fresh=trueso an earlier cached image does not mask the result. - Inspect the API response: note the response and any error code. An API error can indicate a request or capture failure, but a successful screenshot does not prove every individual image or font request succeeded.
What ApiFlash error codes do—and do not—tell you
| Code | Documented meaning |
|---|---|
400 |
Invalid parameters or an uncapturable target URL. |
401 |
Invalid or revoked key. |
402 |
Monthly quota exceeded. |
403 |
A feature is unsupported by the plan. |
429 |
Excessive requests. |
500 |
Capture failure. |
These codes describe API-level errors. They do not identify which asset request failed inside a page that was captured successfully. When the API returns an image but an asset is missing, continue with the timing, lazy-loading, font-delivery, header, and cache checks above.
Or skip the browser setup
If you want a screenshot API that handles common page cleanup before capture, ScreenshotNeo takes a URL in one GET request and returns an image or PDF. For a WebP screenshot:

Frequently Asked Questions
Can an ApiFlash error code tell me which font or image failed?
No. The documented codes identify API-level request or capture errors, not individual asset failures in an otherwise successful screenshot.
Does ApiFlash wait for fonts and images by default?
Its documented default is network_idle. For a specific page, use a readiness condition that matches how its content loads; the default alone does not establish that each asset loaded.
