Why a PS Plus Extra Game Is Missing: Region, Removal & Fixes

A PlayStation Plus Extra game can be missing because it has left the rotating Game Catalog, is unavailable in your account’s region, is listed under a different benefit or tier, or is not compatible with your console. Start by checking the Game Catalog on your own console and the game’s platform listing. If a game is already installed but will not launch, check membership validation separately.

Check the right PlayStation Plus section

Extra includes the Game Catalog, but that is separate from Monthly Games, the Classics Catalog and game trials. A title associated with PlayStation Plus may therefore appear in a different section or require a different membership tier.

On PS5: Open Games > PlayStation Plus > Benefits > Game Catalog.
On PS4: Open PlayStation Plus > Game Catalog.
If you downloaded the game before: Look for it in your Game Library as well as the catalog.

PlayStation’s US catalog page directs members to the PlayStation Plus hub on their console for the full list available in their country or region.

Check whether the game is available in your region

PlayStation Plus Game Catalog availability varies by country or region. A game appearing in another country’s lineup does not mean it is included for your account. Use the catalog shown on your own console rather than relying on a list for a different region.

See whether the game has left the catalog

Extra’s Game Catalog rotates: titles can have an end date and be removed. Once a title leaves, it is no longer available through the catalog benefit, even if it previously appeared in your library. Check the local listing for the current lineup and any announced leaving date; the catalog changes over time.

If the game has left, check your local PlayStation Store to see whether it can be bought separately. Upgrading to Premium should not be assumed to restore a removed Game Catalog title.

Confirm the game supports your console

Check the listing for the exact game and edition, including whether it is a PS4 or PS5 version. PlayStation’s US catalog FAQ says PS5 games can only be downloaded to a PS5 console. If the game is PS5-only, it cannot be downloaded on PS4.

If an installed game suddenly stops working

A game missing from the catalog listing is different from an installed game that has lost access. In a May 23, 2022 PlayStation.Blog service guide, PlayStation said downloaded Extra and Premium Game Catalog games require a PSN connection every seven days to validate membership and maintain access. If the installed game will not launch, connect the console to PSN and check that the membership is active. This guidance concerns validation of downloaded catalog games; it does not explain why a title is absent from the catalog listing.

What to have ready if you contact support

If the checks above do not explain the problem, record the exact game and edition, your account country or region, console model, active membership tier, and whether the game is absent from the catalog or merely will not launch. Include the exact on-screen error message. Without those details, the cause for an individual account cannot be identified.
