If you want PlayStation Plus for the Game Catalog, Extra is the tier to consider: both Extra and Premium include it. Premium is worth considering if you will also use its Classics Catalog, limited-time trials, or cloud streaming. Compare the games you actually want and your region’s current price before subscribing, because catalog lineups and plan terms can change.

Which tier should you choose?
Choose Extra if the Game Catalog is your priority
Extra includes the Game Catalog, as does Premium. If you mainly want to download games from that catalog, you do not need Premium just to get access to it. Compare the current Extra price in your region with how much you expect to use the service.
Choose Premium if you will use its added benefits
Premium adds the Classics Catalog, limited-time trials for select games, and cloud streaming for eligible games on supported devices. The US plan comparison also lists the Sony Pictures Catalog. These extras make Premium a better fit only when the particular content or features matter to you.

What to know about catalog access
PlayStation says Extra includes Essential benefits plus downloadable Game Catalog access. Premium includes Essential and Extra games, with the option to download or stream eligible titles from the Game Catalog and Classics Catalog. Many PS3 Classics Catalog titles are streaming-only. See PlayStation’s catalog and membership FAQ for the current terms.
A catalog game is not the same as a game you have purchased permanently. Some titles display an end date and leave the service; access to Game Catalog and Classics Catalog games depends on membership in the corresponding plan. Check a game’s current listing and any removal date before choosing a plan around it.

Does Premium streaming need a fast connection?
Streaming is limited to selected games and supported devices; having Premium does not make every catalog game streamable. PlayStation states a minimum of 5 Mbps upload and 5 Mbps download to establish a cloud-streaming session on PS5 or PlayStation Portal. That minimum is not a promise of smooth performance. Check PlayStation’s cloud-streaming details for eligible games, devices, and requirements.

- Confirm the game. Search the current catalog for the specific title in your region, and check whether PlayStation lists an end date.
