42WN.L and an Arab Cement quote can show different prices because they may represent different securities, companies, currencies, exchanges and price types. A secondary market reference labels 42WN.L “ARAB CEMENT/HSBC 15” and associates it with the London Stock Exchange, but that label does not prove the legal issuer, ISIN, security class, maturity or payoff. Why the ticker is not proof of identity
Vendor symbols are useful shortcuts, but they are not legal identifiers. Different data services can map the same security to different symbols, retain symbols after a product matures, or display a delayed or indicative valuation under a familiar-looking name. A code ending in “.L” commonly points readers toward London-market data, yet it does not tell you whether the observation is a completed trade, a firm bid or offer, a market-maker indication, or an issuer calculation.

The searched material did not authenticate a current official record for 42WN.L or establish that it is still trading. A missing, unusually low or unchanged value can therefore reflect stale mapping, suspension, redemption, maturity or delisting rather than a bargain-priced Arab Cement share.
Why “Arab Cement” is not one unambiguous company
The local name creates a second identity problem. Saudi Exchange material shows an Arab Cement company in a Saudi-market context. Separately, an Egyptian market-data filing identifies Arabian Cement Company, with Egyptian-pound-denominated data and ISIN EGS3C0O1C016. Similar English names do not make these companies interchangeable.
Before comparing a London instrument with a local quote, establish all of the following:

- the country and legal name of the local company;
- the local exchange and ticker;
- the local security’s ISIN;
- the currency in which the local quote is expressed; and
- whether the London instrument directly represents that company’s shares, references its shares as an underlying, or merely contains a similar name.
If you choose the Saudi company while 42WN.L relates to an Egyptian company, the apparent price gap is an identity mismatch. No amount of exchange-rate conversion can correct a comparison between different issuers.
The main reasons the displayed prices diverge
1. They may be different legal instruments
An ordinary share gives an ownership interest with rights defined by the company and local law. A structured note or certificate instead follows terms set by an issuer or arranger. Its value can depend on a starting level, observation dates, barriers, participation percentages, coupons, fees and a redemption formula. Even if the product references an Arab Cement share, it will not necessarily move one-for-one with that share.

Issuer credit matters as well. If the product is an unsecured obligation, the market can price the issuer’s ability to pay in addition to movements in the underlying. A share quote does not contain that same contractual credit exposure. Without the final terms, it is impossible to calculate a meaningful conversion from the local equity price to 42WN.L.
2. Currency conversion changes the apparent number
A London quote may be denominated in a currency different from the local listing. The exact denomination of 42WN.L has not been verified. A local quote may be in Saudi riyals or Egyptian pounds, while a London-market display could use another currency. The numerical value of one unit will change when converted, even when both markets are open and the underlying company is unchanged.

Broker commissions, custody charges and exchange fees can further change the amount an investor actually pays or receives. Comparing the two screen numbers without those conventions confuses units with value.
3. Exchanges operate under different trading conditions
London and the relevant local exchange can have different trading calendars, opening hours, tick sizes, market makers and available liquidity. One market may be open while the other is closed. A local share can react to a company announcement before a London-linked product updates, or the product can continue displaying its last valuation after the local market has moved.
Thin trading widens the bid-ask spread. Two screens can show different last-trade prices simply because one transaction occurred earlier or at a different side of the spread. A “price” that cannot be traded at the displayed size is not equivalent to an executable quote.

4. The data may be delayed, indicative or calculated
Market-data pages do not always distinguish clearly between a completed trade, a firm quote, an indicative quote and an issuer valuation. The 42WN.L material does not establish which of these was displayed. A vendor can carry forward the last known value, publish a delayed observation or show a calculated net asset value. The local listing may instead show a recent transaction.
Always record the timestamp, timezone and status of each observation. If the timestamps do not overlap, the comparison is a historical snapshot rather than a simultaneous price check.
5. Coupons, dividends and corporate actions follow different rules
An ordinary share may pay dividends, while a structured product may pay coupons, pass through no dividend at all, or embed dividend assumptions in its pricing formula. Barriers, early redemption, caps and participation rates can make gains or losses nonlinear. Stock splits, rights issues, tender offers and other corporate actions may be handled by an adjustment agent under the product terms rather than by simply changing the quoted unit price.
Fees can be embedded in the issue price, deducted on redemption or charged by an intermediary. Until you read the final terms, do not infer a dividend yield, coupon rate or expected return for 42WN.L.
6. The instrument may have reached the end of its life
Notes and certificates can mature, redeem early, be suspended or be removed from a venue. A ticker that remains in a data feed after its final valuation can look active even when no new trades are possible. The searched material does not establish the current status of 42WN.L, so a low or blank quote cannot be interpreted as a cheap share.

Is 42WN.L the same stock as Arab Cement?

How to verify 42WN.L before placing an order
- Search the official London Stock Exchange instrument database. Use the code and then open the full instrument record, not only a vendor summary.
- Record the legal fields. Capture the exact name, ISIN, issuer, instrument class, currency, issue date, maturity and current status.
- Obtain the final terms. For a structured security, read the payoff, coupon, barrier, participation, redemption and adjustment provisions. If final terms are unavailable, stop the comparison.

How to align two prices mathematically
Start with like-for-like units. If the London instrument is quoted in currency A and the local share in currency B, convert one using an explicitly stated A/B FX rate at a matching timestamp.
