Abby Trott is an American actor and singer from Attleboro, Massachusetts, now based in Los Angeles after living and working in Tokyo and New York. Audiences know her as the English voice of Nezuko Kamado in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Momo Ayase in Dandadan, Shizuka in Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead, Yoh Asakura in Shaman King, and several major game characters. She also sang the English vocals for “Lifelight,” the main theme of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Her current game credits include Rose Belmont in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, a 2026 Nintendo Switch title. That is a video-game performance; the available credits do not establish Trott as a voice actor in Netflix’s Castlevania animated series.

Abby Trott’s identity and career in one view
Trott’s official biography describes her as an actor and singer from Attleboro, Massachusetts. She has lived and worked in Tokyo and New York and is currently based in Los Angeles. Her résumé covers four overlapping areas: anime dubbing, Western animation, interactive games, and singing. That range explains why one listener may recognize her from a Japanese animated series while another knows her from a Nintendo game or a song heard in a fighting-game menu.

| Where is Abby Trott from? | Attleboro, Massachusetts. |
| Where is she based? | Los Angeles, according to her official biography. |
| What does she do? | Acting, voice acting, dubbing, game performance, and singing. |
| What is her best-known song credit? | English vocals for “Lifelight,” the main theme of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. |

The résumé also lists Japanese-language ability at JLPT N2 level, a Bachelor of Arts in Acting and East Asian Studies from Brandeis University, Meisner-technique study, Howard Fine’s masterclass, and Upright Citizens Brigade improv courses. Those details matter because her work is not confined to one vocal style: she has to move between translated dialogue, broad animation, game combat lines, dramatic scenes, and studio singing.

How Trott entered voice acting
The most complete account of her training comes from her official résumé and biography. The résumé presents formal acting education alongside Japanese-language study, while the biography places part of her professional life in Tokyo and New York before her move to Los Angeles.
IMDb’s biography says Trott began in Japan as a puppeteer and later returned to the United States for voice acting. That puppeteer detail is an IMDb biographical claim rather than a point confirmed by the official résumé, so it is best treated as background context rather than a definitive account of her entire career. It does, however, fit the physical and vocal demands of animation work: performers often need precise timing, clear physical intention, and the ability to create a character without appearing on camera.
Her anime and Japanese-animation roles
Trott’s anime credits are the work most likely to prompt the question “Where have I heard that voice?” The following roles are listed by her official résumé, with additional corroboration in published cast biographies.
Nezuko Kamado and Chuntaro — Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
Trott voices Nezuko Kamado in the English dub of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. She is also credited as Chuntaro, the series’ small sparrow character. Nezuko is a particularly distinctive assignment because the character communicates much of her personality through nonstandard vocalizations and physical reaction rather than long conventional speeches. Chuntaro is a separate, compact creature performance, showing Trott’s ability to make a supporting mascot character identifiable with limited dialogue.

Momo Ayase — Dandadan
In Dandadan, Trott provides the English voice of Momo Ayase. Momo is a central young character whose scenes shift rapidly between everyday conversation, supernatural conflict, comedy, and emotional reaction. The role sits at the intersection of naturalistic anime dubbing and high-energy genre performance.
Shizuka — Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead
Trott voices Shizuka in Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead. The series mixes zombie-horror stakes with bright comedy, requiring dialogue that can pivot from practical survival advice to exaggerated, upbeat exchanges. Shizuka adds another example of Trott working in an ensemble rather than only voicing the title character.
Yoh Asakura — Shaman King (2021)
Trott voices Yoh Asakura in the 2021 Shaman King anime. Yoh is the protagonist, making this one of her clearest leading-character credits in anime. The part calls for a relaxed everyday presence as well as the focus and urgency of supernatural battles.

Her résumé also lists Akane in My Love Story with Yamada-kun at LVL 999, along with roles in Hunter × Hunter, The Seven Deadly Sins, Mob Psycho 100, and Rilakkuma and Kaoru. These supporting and ensemble appearances broaden the range of productions in which listeners may encounter her voice. A credit in an ensemble does not necessarily mean a recurring lead, so individual episode prominence varies by series.

Western animation roles
Trott’s work is not limited to English-language versions of Japanese productions. Her official résumé separates Western animation from anime dubbing and lists several recurring or character-focused parts.
Windblade — Transformers: Combiner Wars and Transformers: Titans Return
Trott voices Windblade in the Transformers: Combiner Wars and Transformers: Titans Return animated productions. Windblade is a sentient transforming robot and an established Transformers character, so the performance depends on authority, mechanical scale, and action clarity rather than the intimate conversational tone common in school-life anime.
Ivy — Carmen Sandiego
She voices Ivy in Carmen Sandiego. Ivy is part of the series’ human supporting cast, giving Trott a grounded, contemporary animation role distinct from Windblade’s science-fiction setting.
Becky, Dawn, and ensemble work
Other listed animation credits include Becky in The Casagrandes, Dawn in The Croods Family Tree, and multiple parts in Rock, Paper, Scissors. Playing more than one character in a production requires separation through pitch, rhythm, attitude, or accent so that the roles remain understandable even when scenes move quickly.

Video-game characters: the roles and what they show
Interactive performance adds a different technical demand. A game actor may record battle barks, menu lines, story scenes, damage reactions, and alternate takes that are assembled later by a game team. Trott’s listed game credits span visual-novel courtroom drama, tactical role-playing, action games, and fighting games.
| Character | Game | Performance context |
|---|---|---|
| Maya Fey | Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice | A returning courtroom-adventure character in a dialogue-heavy story. |
| Annette | Fire Emblem: Three Houses | A role-playing-game character whose performance appears across conversations and tactical-story sequences. |
| Tae Takemi | Persona 5 Royal | A mature supporting character in a long-form role-playing game. |
| Pod 153 | NieR:Automata | A machine companion requiring a controlled, nonhuman presentation. |
| April O’Neil | Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl | A playable fighter whose lines support match intros, attacks, and reactions. |
| Wonder Woman | MultiVersus | A playable superhero character in a crossover fighting game. |
| Kim Wu | Killer Instinct | A playable combatant whose recording includes action-focused lines and reactions. |
These credits should not be treated as interchangeable. Maya Fey and Annette are dialogue-led story roles; Pod 153 is deliberately artificial; and April O’Neil, Wonder Woman, and Kim Wu are experienced primarily through repeatable combat interactions. The variety demonstrates why a single “signature voice” description can be misleading: Trott adjusts her delivery to the character’s world and the game’s recording format.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Did Abby Trott sing the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate song?
Yes. Trott’s official résumé credits her with the English vocals for “Lifelight,” the main theme of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The game arrived in the 2018-era release period, and the song became one of the most recognizable pieces of music associated with Nintendo’s crossover fighter. The credit is specifically for the English vocal performance; it does not mean Trott composed the theme or performed every language version.

In a Nintendo Life interview about the audition and recording, Trott explained that she does not regard any single job as a permanent arrival point. Her words were: That’s such a tough question because there’s never a moment where I feel like I’ve made it, as they say. There won’t be a moment because, as an actor, you are always auditioning. I still audition for most jobs that I do.
The comment provides useful context for “Lifelight”: even a highly visible theme-song credit sits within an ongoing audition-based career rather than replacing the need to seek new roles.

Other documented singing work
“Lifelight” is the headline music credit, but it is not her only singing work. Her résumé lists chorus work for Wonderful Wingits and Treehouse Detectives, participation in a McDonald’s radio quartet, backup vocals on TIGARAH’s album This World is My Playground, and commercial vocals for Orient Watch and Uno Hair Gel. These entries cover ensemble singing, studio backing vocals, radio performance, and advertising, each of which uses a different production setup from a solo game theme.
Who voices Rose Belmont in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse?
Current game-credit listings identify Abby Trott as the English voice of Rose Belmont in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, listed as a 2026 title for Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Life’s interview also describes her as taking the lead role of Rose Belmont and discusses the project alongside her Smash Bros. singing work.
Rose Belmont is therefore a video-game credit, not a credit for the Netflix Castlevania animated series. The available sources do not establish Trott as part of that Netflix show’s voice cast. Keeping the two projects separate matters because they share a franchise name but are different productions, formats, and credit lists.

What the Castlevania credit does—and does not—tell us
- Established: Trott is listed as Rose Belmont’s English voice in the Nintendo Switch game Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse.
- Established: The game credit is associated with a 2026 listing.
- Not established by these credits: A role for Trott in Netflix’s Castlevania animated series.
- Not established: Audience, sales, compensation, or performance-ranking statistics for the game.
Because the game is a separate title, a Rose Belmont credit should not be used to infer that Trott voices an existing Netflix character or that the two projects share a production team.
How to recognize the different sides of her work
A useful way to organize Trott’s credits is by medium and character function rather than by trying to rank them. Her work falls into several recognizable groups:
| Recognition route | Representative credit | Why listeners may remember it |
|---|---|---|
| Anime protagonist | Yoh Asakura in Shaman King | Long-form story scenes and battle-focused dialogue. |
| Anime breakout ensemble | Nezuko Kamado and Chuntaro in Demon Slayer | A highly recognizable series plus contrasting human and creature performances. |
| Current anime lead | Momo Ayase in Dandadan | Fast shifts between comedy, supernatural action, and emotional scenes. |
| Western animation | Windblade in Transformers | A robotic action character with a different vocal scale from anime dubbing. |
| Story-driven game | Maya Fey in Phoenix Wright | Dialogue-heavy interactive storytelling. |
| Music | “Lifelight” in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate | A sung theme rather than spoken character dialogue. |
| New Castlevania game | Rose Belmont in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse | A 2026 Nintendo Switch game credit distinct from the Netflix series. |
This framework also explains why searches for “Abby Trott voice” can return very different clips. A whispering or restrained anime performance, a bright cartoon exchange, a robotic game companion, a fighting-game battle line, and a full sung chorus are all valid parts of the same résumé.
Bottom line on Abby Trott
Abby Trott is a Los Angeles-based actor and singer whose career crosses anime dubbing, Western animation, interactive games, and music. Her most recognizable credits include Nezuko Kamado, Momo Ayase, Shizuka, Yoh Asakura, Windblade, Maya Fey, Annette, Tae Takemi, and the English vocals on “Lifelight.” Her current Castlevania connection is Rose Belmont in the 2026 Nintendo Switch game Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse; that credit should not be confused with Netflix’s animated Castlevania.
