NordVPN is the best overall choice in TheBestVPN.com’s August 19, 2026, Spain-focused ranking, based on its reported streaming results and nearest-server speed test. That is a publisher’s ranking, not a universal winner: another comparison reached a different order, and streaming access can change. The four providers below are options from the ranking that can be discussed here; choose based on the Spanish service, device, and privacy needs you actually have.
Which VPN is best for Spain?
If you want a single starting point, consider NordVPN for the combination of speed and Spanish and international streaming reported by TheBestVPN.com. Its August 19, 2026, article says it tested 30 VPNs, then conducted deeper Spain-focused tests on five finalists. The results below are that publication’s findings, not tests conducted for this article.

There is no provider that wins every use case. Someone outside Spain who wants Spanish TV needs a working Spanish endpoint and access to the specific service they watch. Someone in Spain seeking foreign catalogs has a different requirement. A privacy-first user should examine policy language and audit scope, not choose by streaming results alone.

| ExpressVPN | 17.3% (TheBestVPN.com, 2026) | Access to RTVE Play, Atresplayer, and Mitele in the reported test window | Starting price listed as €2.49 per month by TheBestVPN.com in August 2026; plan and renewal terms require confirmation |

What each shortlisted VPN is best suited to
NordVPN: streaming and speed in the reported comparison
TheBestVPN.com reports servers in Madrid and Barcelona and successful access to the three Spanish services it tested: RTVE Play, Atresplayer, and Mitele. It also reports access to all foreign services in its test set, which included multiple Netflix libraries, Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, and Disney+. These results apply to the source’s test window, not guaranteed future access.
The article says the provider’s no-logs policy was audited by Deloitte in 2025 and its servers are RAM-only. Those are source-reported claims; an audit mention does not establish complete anonymity. Review the policy and the audit’s scope if privacy is central to your decision.
Rank #2
ExpressVPN: a traveler-oriented feature set
The source describes Lightway as useful on unstable hotel Wi-Fi and mentions MediaStreamer Smart DNS for some smart TVs and consoles. It reports access to RTVE Play, Atresplayer, and Mitele, and an 87.5% success rate across the international streaming tests it lists; Netflix UK was the named exception. Device compatibility and current streaming access should be checked for your exact setup.

TheBestVPN.com says a KPMG audit of the no-logs policy took place in 2025. Treat that as a dated report, and consult the policy and audit documentation rather than assuming the audit proves every privacy claim.
Proton VPN: privacy features alongside Spanish streaming
TheBestVPN.com describes Proton VPN as headquartered in Switzerland and notes its open-source apps and Secure Core multi-hop feature. It reports a Securitum audit of the no-logs policy in 2025, access to RTVE Play and Mitele, and failure to access Atresplayer in its test window. The source also reports access to the international Netflix libraries and Disney+ that it tested.
Headquarters, technical features, and an audit are relevant pieces of a privacy assessment, not a guarantee of anonymity. Read the provider’s current policy and determine what an audit actually covered.
Rank #4
IPVanish: a mixed result across Spanish services
TheBestVPN.com reports servers in Madrid and Valencia and access to RTVE Play, but not Mitele or Atresplayer, in its test window. The article says the provider is headquartered in the United States and that Schellman Compliance audited its no-logs policy in 2025. Those claims should be checked against the current policy and the underlying audit report before drawing a broader privacy conclusion.

Why rankings disagree—and why streaming results can expire
TheBestVPN.com placed NordVPN first in its August 2026 comparison, while Security.org’s September 1, 2026, Spain comparison put a different provider first and NordVPN fourth. Security.org says it reviewed more than 50 VPNs, spent a week with each, conducted speed tests, and assessed privacy, streaming, infrastructure, and long-term pricing transparency. Different test windows and criteria can produce different rankings; neither order guarantees the best result for an individual user.
RTINGS, in a guide updated October 5, 2026, cautions that “streaming services can and will update their VPN algorithms frequently.” A service that worked during a comparison may later block an endpoint, and a result for one streaming platform says little about another. Check the exact service and country you need shortly before subscribing.

- Set the viewing target. If you are abroad and want Spanish TV, prioritize Spanish server locations and the exact Spanish platform. If you are in Spain and want a foreign library, confirm the provider’s access to that country’s catalog.
- Check your own speed and latency. The published percentages are comparative results from one outlet’s test cycle, not a promise. Test from your home or travel network, using the nearest suitable endpoint and the device you will actually watch on.
- Confirm device support. Check that the provider currently has an app for your phone, computer, TV, or other device. For a console or TV without a native VPN app, investigate compatible router support or Smart DNS separately; neither is universal. A laptop hotspot may also be an option, depending on the device and setup.
- Read privacy terms, not just labels. Review the no-logs policy, jurisdiction, and the scope and date of any independent audit. An audit covers specified controls or claims; it does not promise anonymity in every situation.
- Compare the full subscription cost. Check the total charge for the chosen term, renewal price, cancellation rules, and refund terms. A monthly equivalent displayed for a long-term plan is not necessarily a month-to-month price.
What to know about the reported prices
TheBestVPN.com listed prices of €3.49 per month for NordVPN’s two-year plan and a €2.49-per-month starting price for ExpressVPN in its August 19, 2026, article. These are dated figures from that publication, not verified checkout prices or statements of recurring monthly billing. The source excerpt does not establish comparable prices for Proton VPN or IPVanish. Check the provider’s current checkout page for the actual term, total charge, and renewal amount before paying.
Bottom line for different needs
- Start with NordVPN if you want the leading option in TheBestVPN.com’s Spain ranking and its reported combination of Spanish and international streaming results.
- Consider ExpressVPN if its traveler-oriented features and compatible Smart DNS setup fit your device mix.
- Consider Proton VPN if its privacy features are a priority and its reported Spanish-service results cover what you watch.
- Consider IPVanish if its reported Spanish endpoint locations suit you and RTVE Play is the service you need.
Whichever you choose, treat streaming compatibility and price as details to verify at the time of purchase, not permanent properties of a ranking.
