To max out a Pal Essence Condenser in Palworld 1.0, keep one Pal as your target and sacrifice 48 additional Pals of the same species: 4 for rank one, 8 more for rank two, 12 more for rank three, and 24 more for rank four. You need 49 same-species Pals in total if the target starts unranked. Condensation improves the target, but sacrificed Pals are permanently consumed and do not pass along their skills.
How many Pals does it take to reach four stars?
The 1.0 cost table calls for the following number of additional same-species Pals at each rank. The cumulative column counts only sacrificed Pals, not the Pal you keep. These costs are from Nodecraft’s guide, updated July 27, 2026; older guides may show the former 116-sacrifice cost.

Because the target Pal remains in your collection, starting from an unranked Pal means gathering 48 duplicates to sacrifice plus that target: 49 same-species Pals altogether.
What does condensation improve?
Condensation raises the selected Pal’s rank, shown by blue stars, and improves its maximum health, attack, defense, and Partner Skill. The effect on the Partner Skill depends on the species, so check the target’s in-game preview rather than expecting one universal bonus.

Palworld 1.0 references also report Work Suitability improvements at each rank, with more available Work Suitabilities at maximum rank. This does not give a Pal a completely new job that it did not already have. Inspect the condenser’s confirmation preview for the specific changes shown for your target. How to unlock and build the condenser
The Palworld 1.0 structure record lists the unlock at level 14 for 2 Ancient Technology points. Build it within a Palbox area using these materials:

Choose the Pal you want to keep before confirming
The selected Pal is retained; the other same-species Pals used for condensation are consumed permanently. Their active and passive skills do not transfer to the target, so duplicates contribute rank progress only.
Before spending a large group of duplicates, decide which individual Pal you want to invest in. Compare its passive skills, mutation, individual stats, and useful Work Suitabilities, along with its combat role and species-specific Partner Skill. Then review the in-game improvement preview before confirming.

Pocketpair’s official Palworld 1.0 changelog, dated July 9, 2026, describes new Pal-strengthening mechanics and rebalanced stats and abilities, but does not give a detailed condenser cost table. The 4/8/12/24 rank costs above come from a guide updated July 27, 2026, while the build requirements come from a structure record updated July 13, 2026. If a later game patch changes these values, the in-game requirements and preview are the most relevant checks before you commit duplicates. Pocketpair’s official Palworld release changelog provides the version context.
