No. PlayStation’s Legacy of Thieves FAQ says the series has continuity, but each game is designed as a standalone adventure that can be enjoyed without playing the others. The full order is for added character and story context, not a prerequisite for understanding every game.

If you have time for only one game
You can start with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End or The Lost Legacy. Choose Uncharted 4 for Nathan’s later story; choose The Lost Legacy for Chloe and Nadine’s adventure. If you start with Uncharted 4, the first three games provide useful background on Nathan, Sam, and the relationships he carries into it.
Which collections include the games?
The two collections split the five adventures into an earlier trilogy and two later games. Neither collection contains all five.

One feature caveat: Legacy of Thieves Collection does not include the multiplayer found in the original releases. PlayStation directs players seeking that multiplayer to the PS4 versions.

Is another Uncharted game confirmed?
No next Uncharted game or release date is announced in the official Naughty Dog sources reviewed for this article. As of October 3, 2026, the studio’s company page identifies Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet as its next game, in development for PlayStation 5. Naughty Dog’s announcement, dated December 12, 2024, describes it as a new franchise. That status does not establish that the Uncharted franchise has ended; it means a future entry should be treated as unconfirmed unless Naughty Dog or PlayStation announces one.
