If you want a Sangean radio that plays audio from your phone, the choice depends on where and how you listen: the WFT-4 is the most flexible tabletop system, the DPR-42BT and DPR-26BT are portable DAB+/FM options, and the WR-11BT+ is a simpler wooden AM/FM cabinet radio. The manufacturer specifications document their features, but they do not establish which one sounds best; no independent listening test or sound measurement is available here.
Compare the four Sangean Bluetooth radios
| Model | Best fit | Bluetooth and radio sources | Notable specifications |
|---|---|---|---|
| WFT-4 | Feature-rich tabletop listening, including sending audio to Bluetooth headphones or speakers | Bluetooth input and output; DAB+, FM, and internet radio | Bluetooth receiver 5.0 and transmitter 5.2; 4-inch color TFT display; optical and coaxial SPDIF outputs |
| DPR-42BT | Portable DAB+/FM listening with phone playback | Bluetooth input; DAB+ and FM-RDS | 40 presets; EQ, treble/bass controls, and loudness; 3-inch speaker with stated 1.2 W output; four AA batteries or DC adapter |
| DPR-26BT | Compact stereo radio with both wireless and wired connections | Bluetooth and AUX input; DAB+ and FM-RDS | Two 2.5-inch speakers with stated 1 W × 2 output; line-out; six C batteries or DC adapter |
| WR-11BT+ | Simple wooden cabinet radio for AM/FM and phone playback | Bluetooth A2DP and AUX; AM/FM | 3-inch speaker with stated 6.5 W output; mains/DC power |
These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independently verified measurements. Output ratings alone do not predict perceived sound quality or make a reliable ranking: speaker design, room placement, source material, and listening preferences also matter.

Which model should you choose?
Choose the WFT-4 for the most flexible setup
The WFT-4 is the only model in this group documented to transmit audio to Bluetooth headphones or speakers as well as receive audio from a phone. It also combines DAB+, FM, and internet radio, making it the broadest-source tabletop choice. Its page lists Bluetooth SBC/AAC decoding for reception and SBC/APTX/APTX-Adaptive for transmission, along with optical and coaxial SPDIF outputs. Check the product page for details relevant to your intended devices and market.

The DPR-42BT pairs DAB+ and FM-RDS with Bluetooth playback, 40 station presets, EQ, treble/bass controls, and loudness. It runs on four AA batteries or a DC adapter, according to Sangean. Its stated speaker output is 1.2 W; treat that as a specification, not a comparative sound test.

Choose the DPR-26BT for stereo speakers and wired connections
The DPR-26BT has two 2.5-inch speakers and listed stereo output of 1 W × 2. In addition to Bluetooth and DAB+/FM-RDS, it has AUX input and line-out. That combination is useful if you want to connect a wired audio source or route the radio’s output to another device. Sangean lists six C batteries or a DC adapter as power options.
Choose the WR-11BT+ for a straightforward cabinet radio
The WR-11BT+ keeps the feature set simple: AM/FM radio, Bluetooth A2DP, and AUX in a wooden cabinet. Sangean lists a 3-inch speaker and 6.5 W output, plus mains/DC power. Its higher stated wattage does not prove that it sounds better than the portable models or the WFT-4.

What to check before buying
- Radio format: The WFT-4 and both DPR models list DAB+; the DPR models also list FM-RDS. The WR-11BT+ lists AM/FM. Confirm that the broadcast formats you rely on are available in your location.
- Bluetooth direction: All four models accept Bluetooth audio from another device. The WFT-4 is the one documented here with Bluetooth transmission to headphones or speakers. Do not assume that a radio with Bluetooth input can send its own audio back out wirelessly.
- Wired connections: The DPR-26BT lists AUX input and line-out, the WR-11BT+ lists AUX, and the WFT-4 lists optical and coaxial SPDIF outputs. Choose based on the specific connection you need.
- Power and placement: The DPR-42BT and DPR-26BT list battery and DC-adapter operation; the WR-11BT+ lists mains/DC power. Consult the model page for regional adapter details and confirm what is included before purchase.
- Sound expectations: The listed speaker sizes and output ratings describe hardware specifications, not measured loudness, tonal balance, or clarity. If sound quality is decisive, audition the radio in person or seek independent testing of the exact model.
Bluetooth audio input versus output
Bluetooth input means you can pair a phone or other compatible source and play its audio through the radio. Bluetooth output means the radio can send audio to a separate Bluetooth listening device. Sangean documents both directions for the WFT-4; the other three models are documented here for Bluetooth playback input. If you specifically want wireless headphones for radio listening, verify transmit capability rather than relying on the phrase “Bluetooth radio.”
