Choose a SanDisk USB flash drive by checking its connector against every device you plan to use, then compare capacity and the speed your devices can actually support. For a mix of USB-C and USB-A devices, the Ultra Dual Drive Luxe is a practical starting point; for a conventional USB-A port, consider the Ultra Flair; and for higher advertised transfer speeds, consider the Extreme PRO Dual Drive—provided your devices support its interface.
Start with the connector your devices need
A drive that cannot connect to your phone, tablet, or computer is the wrong choice regardless of its capacity or advertised speed. Check the exact model and SKU listing before buying, since similarly named SanDisk drives do not necessarily have the same connectors.

- USB-C and USB-A: The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe has both connector types and is intended for moving files between compatible phones, tablets, and computers. The Extreme PRO Dual Drive also has USB-C and USB-A.
- USB-C only: The Ultra Luxe USB Type-C is aimed at USB-C devices.
- Conventional USB-A: The Ultra Flair is a USB 3.0 drive and is backward compatible with USB 2.0.
For a phone or tablet, also check the device maker’s documentation for USB-drive and file-system support. A matching connector alone does not guarantee the device will recognize a drive or its contents.

How much speed do you need?
The published maximums are not guaranteed transfer rates. SanDisk says performance can vary with the host device, usage conditions, and drive capacity; the host and its interface must also be compatible to benefit from the stated performance.
- Occasional documents and everyday file moves: Start with the connector and capacity you need. A higher advertised ceiling may not help if the computer or phone has a slower port.
- Large or frequent transfers: The Extreme PRO Dual Drive has the highest published figures among these options, but its up-to-1,000MB/s read and 900MB/s write claims apply under compatible conditions, not to every device or transfer.
- Comparing capacities within a model: Check the speed claim for the specific capacity. For example, SanDisk’s Ultra Dual Drive Luxe data sheet gives different read maximums for 32GB and 64GB–1TB versions.
Check operating-system requirements and warranty terms
Requirements differ by model, so do not apply one drive’s compatibility list to another. SanDisk’s Extreme PRO Dual Drive data sheet specifies Android 8 and above, iOS 17 and above, macOS 14 and above, and Windows 10 and above. The Ultra Flair product page lists macOS 12+ and Windows 10+.
Rank #2
- Transfer speeds up to 10x faster than standard USB 2.0 drives (4MB/s); up to 130MB/s read speed; USB 3.0 port required. Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending upon host device. 1MB=1,000,000 bytes
- Backward compatible with USB 2.0
- Secure file encryption and password protection(2)
The cited official material lists five-year limited warranties for the Ultra Dual Drive Luxe and Ultra Flair, and a lifetime limited warranty for the Extreme PRO Dual Drive. Warranty terms depend on the model and market; confirm the terms for the SKU sold in your region. The cited material does not establish a warranty term for the Ultra Luxe USB Type-C.
