What Pokémon Ghost Grey is—and why FireRed cheats are relevant
Pokémon Ghost Grey is JoeyZeed’s completed horror-themed Game Boy Advance ROM hack built from Pokémon FireRed. Its story takes place in a decayed Kanto 50 years after Gold, Silver and Crystal. The campaign includes seven badges, a Champion objective, secrets and postgame content, with more than 200 ghost Pokémon, over 120 original regional variants, new areas, original sprites and a soundtrack containing more than 130 songs and jingles.

The hack keeps a memory layout close to vanilla FireRed. PokeCoders identifies it as a binary FireRed hack built with HexManiacAdvance, which is why many cheats use familiar GBA address formats. Ghost Grey is not identical to an unmodified FireRed cartridge, however. EVs, IVs, Hidden Power, eggs and breeding are absent, while Fairy typing, the physical/special split and custom moves are added or changed. A code copied from another release can therefore fail even when it works in a standard FireRed ROM.

Version and testing limits
The “fully tested” claims attached to the codes apply to Ghost Grey v1.0.4. PokeCoders records testing on October 6, 2026, and its page was updated October 8, 2026. RetroDodo also reports testing with mGBA on V1.04. Both guides warn that several Ghost Grey versions circulate, that some unlisted codes crashed or did nothing, and that combinations can interfere with one another.
Use the version number shown by your ROM or its title screen as the first compatibility check. A code that worked on 1.0.4 is evidence for that build only; it is not a promise for a later patch, an altered translation or a different dump.

PokeCoders also lists remapped item, money, Rare Candy, encounter and battle cheats for v1.0.4. Their exact strings are not included in the supplied documentation, so they should be copied from that guide rather than guessed or substituted with vanilla FireRed values.

How to enter the cheats safely
1. Confirm the ROM and emulator
Check that the game is Ghost Grey v1.0.4 and that your emulator runs Game Boy Advance software. The emulator must expose a cheat manager with the code type required by the guide—typically CodeBreaker, Action Replay or GameShark. A device that only loads ROM files but has no cheat-entry interface cannot use these codes directly.
2. Create two backups
- Make a normal save from Ghost Grey’s in-game menu.
- Save a state in the emulator while the game is stable and before any cheat is enabled.
- Keep the original save untouched until you have confirmed that the cheat produced the expected result.
Save states are a recovery tool, not a substitute for an in-game save. Restoring an old state can discard legitimate progress made after it was created.
3. Add one cheat at a time
- Open the emulator’s Cheats or Cheat Manager menu.
- Create a new entry using the code type specified by the guide. Do not convert a CodeBreaker string to another format unless the emulator explicitly documents that conversion.
- Paste the code exactly, preserving every hexadecimal character and line break.
- Enable only that entry, return to the game and perform a small test.
- Disable the entry before adding another code.
Testing singly makes it possible to identify the offending code. RetroDodo reports that multiple cheats may not work together, even when each one works by itself.

4. Use master codes correctly for wild Pokémon
Wild modifiers are different from the standalone cheats in the table. Enter 000014D1 000A and 1003DAE6 0007 as the required master entries, then add 83007CEE YYYY with the species identifier in place of YYYY. Enable the modifier only while initiating the encounter, verify the result, then disable it before saving if the guide’s instructions call for that workflow. Entering a species value in the wrong number system or omitting a master entry normally produces an ordinary encounter, a failed encounter or instability rather than the intended Pokémon.
Using each cheat without damaging a save
Infinite PP
Infinite PP is useful for testing custom moves or exploring a long dungeon. Because the published code writes to battle-related data, RetroDodo specifically says to disable it outside battles. Turn it on before selecting a move, confirm that PP is restored as expected, and turn it off before leaving the battle screen.
No encounters
The no-encounter code is suited to navigation, item collection and checking map events. It can also hide a scripted or required battle if left enabled. Disable it before story triggers, gym challenges or any event that appears to depend on a wild encounter.

One-hit KO
Use one-hit KO for ordinary battles you have already backed up. It can remove the normal progression and may interact poorly with custom battle scripting. If an opponent’s HP display becomes inconsistent or a battle stops advancing, disable the cheat and reload the pre-cheat save state.
Shiny encounters
The shiny code affects encounter generation. Walk into a new encounter after enabling it and check the Pokémon’s summary or battle animation. It does not retroactively change Pokémon already stored in the party or boxes. Disable it before using another encounter modifier so the two encounter edits do not compete.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWalk through walls
Walk through walls is the highest-risk convenience code in this list. Use it only to cross a specific obstruction, then switch it off before entering a door, ladder, warp tile, cutscene trigger or map boundary. The guide warns that leaving it active can cause glitches or crashes. If the character becomes trapped, reload the state created before activation rather than saving in the corrupted position.

Infinite EXP
RetroDodo describes a multi-line Infinite EXP code and displays a warning that the latest version may be incompatible, while also reporting no issue in its own test. Because the exact lines are not available in the supplied record, do not fill the gap with a FireRed code from another site. If you use the guide’s complete entry, test it on a disposable save and watch for level-up loops, frozen battle results or a crash after the experience screen.

The best setup is the one that combines GBA compatibility with reliable, granular cheat controls. No specific handheld listing is certified by the available testing; the comparison below describes the capabilities to check before choosing a device.
| Setup | What to verify | Strength | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Desktop emulator | CodeBreaker/Action Replay/GameShark entry, quick toggle controls and dependable save states. | Largest screen, easiest code editing and strongest recovery workflow. | Less portable. |
| Android emulator | GBA support, a cheat manager that can disable individual entries and working import of multi-line codes. | Portable and convenient for testing encounters anywhere. | Menus and code editing vary by app and device. |
| iOS emulator | GBA support, documented cheat entry and save-state export or backup. | Portable with simple touch access. | Code support and file access can differ between releases. |
| Emulator handheld | Actual GBA emulation, the required cheat format, per-code toggles and a way to back up saves. | Console-like controls and portability. | Firmware interfaces may hide or limit cheat editing. |
During the documented test, Ghost Grey was run on mGBA Desktop, Delta, Manic Emu’s mGBA core, Pizza Boy and MyBoy. That list shows where testing occurred; it does not certify every current build or every device using those emulators.

| Battle freezes after Infinite EXP or PP | Version incompatibility or a battle cheat left active at the wrong time. | Disable the code, restore the in-game backup, and test only on a disposable save. |
| Cheats work alone but not together | Address conflicts or incompatible edits. | Use one functional cheat at a time and disable temporary entries before enabling another. |
What “fully tested” means here
“Fully tested” describes the scope reported by the guides: specific code entries tested against Ghost Grey v1.0.4 on named emulators on a stated date. It does not mean every code works on every Ghost Grey build, that all combinations are safe, or that a future patch will preserve the same memory addresses. Treat the test date and version as part of each code’s specification.
Bottom line
For Ghost Grey v1.0.4, the documented standalone options cover Infinite PP, no encounters, one-hit KOs, shiny encounters and walk through walls, while wild Pokémon require master codes plus a species identifier. Start from a clean save, enter one code in the correct format, disable it as soon as its task is complete and keep a recovery state. Those precautions matter more than adding a large stack of cheats, because version differences and code conflicts are the main reasons a tested entry appears not to work.
