Choose by how you work
If portability is the priority
The Microsoft Surface Arc Mouse is the travel-oriented choice of these three. Microsoft says it snaps flat for carrying and curves into its working shape to turn on; flattening it turns it off. Its listed specifications include Bluetooth 4.1, vertical and horizontal scrolling, two AAA alkaline batteries, and a weight of 2.91 ounces (82.49 grams) including batteries. Microsoft also lists battery life of up to six months. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements, and the battery-life figure is an estimate rather than a guaranteed result for every usage pattern. If you use more than one computer
The Surface Precision Mouse is the most flexible connection option here: Microsoft lists Bluetooth and USB, and says it can pair with up to three computers. That pairing capacity is useful if you regularly move between devices, but the Smart Switching setup requires Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center on the paired computers. Customization and Smart Switching are not universal features; check Microsoft’s Surface Precision Mouse specifications and support details for applicable platform limitations.

If you want a basic Bluetooth option
The Surface Mouse is a simpler choice if you do not need Arc Mouse’s folding form or Precision Mouse’s USB and multi-computer features. Microsoft’s setup guide specifies Windows 10 or Windows 11 and Bluetooth 4.0 or later, and describes a combined power and pairing control on the underside. It uses two AAA batteries. Check compatibility before buying
For Arc Mouse and Surface Mouse, Microsoft’s setup instructions specify a PC running Windows 10 or Windows 11 with Bluetooth 4.0 or later. Precision Mouse supports Bluetooth 4.0 or later for wireless use and also supports a wired USB connection. These requirements do not amount to a complete compatibility matrix for every Surface Pro model or every laptop. If you are unsure, check the computer’s Bluetooth specifications and operating-system support; for Precision Mouse, consider USB if Bluetooth is unavailable or unsuitable.

Pair Arc Mouse or Surface Mouse
- Confirm that the Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer has Bluetooth 4.0 or later.
- For Arc Mouse, bend it into its curved position to turn it on. For Surface Mouse, use the power and pairing control on the underside.
- Hold the mouse’s pairing button until its LED flashes.
- Open Bluetooth device settings on the computer and select the mouse from the available devices. Follow Microsoft’s guide for the specific model if the device does not appear.
For Precision Mouse, use Bluetooth 4.0 or later for wireless pairing, or connect it by USB. If you want Smart Switching across paired computers, install and configure Mouse and Keyboard Center on those computers as Microsoft specifies.
