Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteFor routine classification, GPT-4.1 nano is a sensible low-cost model to evaluate first: OpenAI specifically describes it as ideal for classification, and lists low token rates. That is provider positioning, not proof it will perform best on your data. Compare it with alternatives such as Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite using representative examples, then choose by the cost and quality of accepted results—not token price alone.
There is no universal winner for routine API tasks
The best choice depends on your labels or extraction schema, the cost of mistakes, input length, output format, latency needs, and the endpoint price you will actually pay. No task-specific, independently comparable classification or extraction accuracy figures establish a winner across the models below. Provider feature claims and unrelated benchmark results cannot predict performance on your own workflow.

For simple, high-volume classification, GPT-4.1 nano is a grounded first candidate because OpenAI says it is “ideal for tasks like classification or autocompletion.” Treat that as product positioning and verify it with your own evaluation. Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite is a useful alternative to include, especially when its endpoint pricing or provider fit suits your deployment.

The following are provider-listed rates checked October 7, 2026. They are per million tokens; actual charges can vary with endpoint, region, cached input, and service mode. Confirm current pricing for the exact API configuration before estimating a bill.
#1 Best Overall
| Model | Input | Cached input | Output |
|---|---|---|---|
| GPT-4.1 nano | $0.10 | $0.025 | $0.40 |
| GPT-4.1 mini | $0.40 | $0.10 | $1.60 |
| Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite | $0.25 | not stated in the cited model card | $1.50 |
| Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite | $0.30 | not stated in the cited model card | $2.50 |
OpenAI’s GPT-4.1 nano rates come from its GPT-4.1 launch announcement; GPT-4.1 mini rates and limits are on the GPT-4.1 mini model documentation. Google lists Flash-Lite prices on its Gemini model card; its Cloud pricing table distinguishes service modes and regions, including lower Flex or Batch rates for eligible models. These listed rates are not an apples-to-apples bill estimate: output volume, caching, retries, and service mode affect total cost.
What each candidate is suited to evaluate
GPT-4.1 nano: start here for straightforward classification
OpenAI calls nano the fastest and cheapest GPT-4.1 model and explicitly names classification and autocompletion as suitable tasks. Its listed rates are $0.10 per million input tokens, $0.025 per million cached input tokens, and $0.40 per million output tokens. Those facts make it a practical first test for simple, high-volume calls; they do not guarantee a particular accuracy or schema-validity rate.

The refurbishing process includes functionality testing, basic cleaning, inspection, and repackaging. The product ships with all relevant accessories, and may arrive in a generic box.
GPT-4.1 mini: test when instructions or context are more demanding
OpenAI describes GPT-4.1 mini as strong in instruction following and tool calling. Its model documentation lists a 1,047,576-token context window, a maximum output of 32,768 tokens, and rates of $0.40 per million input tokens, $0.10 per million cached input tokens, and $1.60 per million output tokens. Larger limits and capability descriptions do not by themselves establish better extraction or classification accuracy; include mini only if your evaluation shows a useful gain.
Gemini Flash-Lite: compare price and deployment fit
Google’s model card lists Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite at $0.25 per million input tokens and $1.50 per million output tokens, and Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite at $0.30 input and $2.50 output per million tokens. Google Cloud pricing varies by service mode and region. Do not infer classification or extraction superiority from benchmark rows that measure other tasks.

How to compare models on your workload
- Build a representative test set. Include ordinary records and difficult cases: ambiguous labels, missing fields, long inputs, and malformed source text. Keep a reference answer for each example.
- Hold the task constant. Use the same prompts, examples, schema, and decoding settings across candidates wherever the providers permit. Record exact model identifiers and the date of the comparison.
- Measure task quality. Use exact-label accuracy for classification, field-level correctness for extraction, or another metric that reflects the cost of errors in your application.
- Check output reliability. Count schema-valid responses, missing or malformed values, and cases needing validation, repair, or a retry. A cheap response that cannot be accepted downstream can cost more than its token price suggests.
- Measure operations and total cost. Track input, cached input, output, retries, median and tail latency under expected concurrency, and total spend per accepted record. Use the price for your actual region, endpoint, and service mode.
- Choose by the result, not the rate card. Prefer the least expensive model that meets your quality, reliability, and latency requirements. Route uncertain or high-impact cases to a stronger model only when measured gains justify the added cost and system complexity.
Check constraints before deploying
- Confirm that the model’s input and output limits cover your longest realistic records and responses.
- Verify endpoint availability, region, data-handling requirements, and the service mode your application will use.
- Recheck model identifiers and pricing before committing to a budget; provider catalogs and rates can change.
- Monitor production acceptance, retries, latency, and cost. Re-run the evaluation when prompts, schemas, model versions, or workload mix change.
