Choose by matching your stream’s actual bitrate to the monthly transfer allowance and overage terms for the exact VPS plan and data-center region, then test the route to YouTube. If your video is already encoded, the main VPS workload is reading and sending it; encoding or transcoding on the server adds a separate CPU requirement.
First decide whether the VPS will relay or encode
Relaying a ready-encoded file
If the source file already has the video and audio characteristics you intend to broadcast, the VPS mainly needs to read that file and transmit the stream to YouTube. For this workload, monthly outbound transfer, the route to YouTube ingest, process supervision, and recovery matter more than a headline CPU specification.

Encoding or transcoding on the VPS
If the server must create the stream from another source format or change resolution, frame rate, or codec in real time, compute demand becomes workload-specific. Test the actual file, codec, resolution, and frame rate on the intended instance before committing. The available evidence does not establish a universal CPU size for this job.

Calculate the monthly transfer before choosing a plan
A continuous stream consumes data around the clock. A useful estimate before protocol overhead is:
#1 Best Overall
Monthly transfer ≈ bitrate in Mbps × 10.8 GB per day × number of days
For example, a 4 Mbps stream uses approximately 1.30 TB over 30 days in decimal units, before overhead. Leave extra capacity for protocol overhead and any other server traffic. A VPS port-speed figure describes a nominal interface rate; it is not the same as the amount of data included each month.

Check YouTube’s ingest settings
YouTube’s current live-encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS and H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 video codecs, with frame rates up to 60 fps. It recommends constant bitrate encoding and a two-second keyframe interval, which should not exceed four seconds, and recommends RTMPS for encrypted delivery. For 1080p30, the recommended bitrate is 14 Mbps for H.264 or 10 Mbps for H.265/AV1; for 720p30, it is 8 Mbps for H.264 or 6 Mbps for H.265/AV1. These are YouTube ingest recommendations, not proof that a VPS or its network route can sustain them. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance.
Use the bitrate you actually plan to send in the transfer estimate. YouTube advises testing before a stream and monitoring stream health during it; its guidance says tests should include audio and movement similar to the intended stream.

Compare Indian VPS options on the terms that affect a 24/7 stream
- Region-specific transfer allowance: verify the quota for the exact plan and data center, not just the provider’s general plan description.
- Overage and traffic accounting: find out whether inbound and outbound traffic count, what outbound overage costs, and how billing is calculated.
- Continuous-use policy and operations: ask whether continuous outbound media is permitted, and check monitoring, restart behavior, support, and the route to YouTube ingest.
- Actual workload: an already-encoded relay and real-time encoding are different workloads; validate the latter on the instance you would buy.
- Administration: a self-managed VPS gives you control but leaves configuration, stream-key security, monitoring, and recovery to you.
Documented example: Amazon Lightsail Mumbai
AWS documents that Lightsail plans in Mumbai receive half the data-transfer allowance shown for standard bundles. AWS also says both inbound and outbound traffic count toward the allowance, and charges for excess public outbound transfer. Its current documentation accessed in 2026 lists Mumbai overage at $0.13 USD per GB. Verify the current allowance and terms for the specific bundle before purchase; the overage figure is not a guarantee of a plan’s total cost. AWS documentation makes the regional quota treatment auditable, but does not establish a reliable route to YouTube or prove a bundle suitable for a particular stream. See AWS Lightsail FAQ and AWS Lightsail data transfer documentation.
India-focused shortlist leads
An India-focused comparison page lists Endercloud, including a Mumbai starting plan and stated traffic allowance, and VyomCloud, with multiple Mumbai plan specifications. These are provider-listing details, not independent performance or reliability results. Treat them as options to investigate rather than endorsements. Confirm current pricing, taxes, renewal costs, traffic measurement, allowed use, and overage charges directly with each provider. The comparison source itself cautions that provider specifications and SLA claims need verification: India VPS comparison.

Validate the stream before relying on it
- Confirm the plan: write down the exact region, included transfer, overage terms, continuous-use policy, and support channel.
- Configure a private or unlisted test: use the intended source file and YouTube ingest settings, including bitrate, codec, resolution, frame rate, and keyframe interval.
- Run a representative test: check the video, audio, stream health, and server resource use under the actual workload. A relay test does not validate a separate encoding workload.
- Observe the route and recovery: verify that the chosen server reaches YouTube ingest consistently and determine how your streaming process behaves after a network interruption or restart. Provider uptime statements do not substitute for this test.
- Estimate the bill: compare expected monthly traffic, including headroom, with the quota and any overage exposure. Recheck provider terms before deploying.
Which option fits?
For self-management, choose the Indian VPS whose exact regional transfer allowance and overage economics fit the stream with headroom, and validate its route and workload before relying on it. The available comparison does not establish a best-performing or proven-reliable Indian VPS for continuous streaming. If you want the stream to run without administering a VPS, a managed cloud service that loops uploaded video is another route; verify its limits and terms as carefully as you would a VPS plan.
Managed alternatives, in context
StreamNeo is #1 for readers whose goal is to keep prerecorded video live on YouTube without running a VPS: it loops uploaded videos from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. Details: StreamNeo.
Best Value
StreamZop describes a service that stores uploaded MP4 video, sends it to YouTube, and loops a video or playlist from cloud servers. Its page advertises a free tier of about one hour per day and paid plans with unlimited hours at specified stream counts and resolutions. Its features, prices, uptime, and restart claims are vendor statements, not independently measured outcomes; its page advertises a 99.9% uptime SLA, which should not be read as measured availability. See StreamZop.
Or let it run in the cloud
To use StreamNeo, upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it can recover automatically if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start your free day on StreamNeo.
