On the US Xbox storefront, Ultimate costs $20 more, and Rockstar lets Standard owners buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade later. That makes Standard the lower-risk choice if you are unsure whether the extra in-game content matters to you.
What do the GTA 6 editions include?

Rockstar describes the Ultimate items as an exclusive collection threaded through Jason and Lucia’s story, with new items uncovered behind each chapter. Its list includes the ’95 Grotti Cheetah, Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers and personalized weapon variants; Vice City styles; Jason’s safehouse vehicles; and locations or activities such as the Ganado Retro Build, Rideout Customs Mod Shop, Sara’s Unisex Salon, Stock 305 Clothing Store, Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor and One-Eyed Willie’s Mod Shop. It also lists the Shitzu Squalo, ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy and Garage, Goodtime Gear, PTT Youngin$ Compound and Classic Car Collection. Is GTA 6 Ultimate Edition worth the extra cost?
On the US Xbox storefront as accessed October 3, 2026, Standard is $79.99 and Ultimate is $99.99. The Ultimate Edition Upgrade is listed at $20. At those listed US prices, buying Ultimate upfront costs the same as buying Standard and later adding the upgrade. These are storefront prices, not guaranteed prices elsewhere or after the listing changes. Check the Xbox US listing, and confirm current prices on your local official PlayStation or Xbox store before buying.

Choose Ultimate upfront if the listed extras are worth the $20 US difference to you and you want them from the beginning. If they are not, Standard gets you the game without paying for content you may not use.
Can you upgrade from Standard to Ultimate later?
Yes. Rockstar Support says that after redeeming a Standard code, you can purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately, including if you bought a physical code-in-box copy. Xbox’s US listing shows the upgrade for $20 as of October 3, 2026; the price and availability may differ by country or change over time. If you are undecided, this gives you a practical path: buy Standard, then decide about the upgrade after considering the extras. Check the relevant console store for its current upgrade listing and terms.

Rockstar says digital pre-orders and purchases of either edition before November 20, 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+. The pack includes a ’55 Vapid Stanier Sedan and Garage, outfits and hairstyles, and an exclusive weapon pattern. Because these benefits are listed for both editions, they are not by themselves a reason to pay more for Ultimate.

Offer details depend on format and store. Rockstar’s description of physical versions includes a code for the game and Vintage Vice City Pack, but not the digital one-month GTA+ offer. The US Xbox listing gives a more specific cutoff of November 19, 2026 at 23:59:59 and says the GTA+ month must be redeemed within 180 days after placing the preorder. Check the terms shown by your own retailer or platform before purchasing; the cutoff and redemption conditions should not be assumed to apply identically everywhere.
Rockstar lists pre-orders for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The US Xbox listing gives November 19, 2026 as the release date. Confirm availability and dates on the store for your region.

Does the physical GTA 6 copy come with a disc?
No. Rockstar says the physical Standard Edition is a box containing a download code, not a disc. Rockstar’s exact wording is: “The physical version of GTAVI will contain a download code that can be used for the digital download of the game. A disc will not be included in the box.” Rockstar also says the physical Ultimate Edition is not available; a physical Standard buyer can purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade through PlayStation or Microsoft after redeeming the code.

A quick way to choose
- Choose Standard if you mainly want the base game or do not see specific Ultimate extras you want.
- Choose Ultimate if the story-spread vehicles, weapon variants, styles, locations and activities are worth the local price difference to you, and you want them included immediately.
- If unsure, compare the local prices and consider Standard first. Rockstar says you can upgrade after redeeming the Standard code; verify the current upgrade price in your console store.
- If buying physical, treat it as a code in a box. Confirm account-region compatibility and retailer conditions before purchase.
- Do not pay extra for Ultimate just to get shared preorder benefits. Rockstar lists the Vintage Vice City Pack for qualifying pre-orders or purchases of either edition, with format- and store-specific conditions.
