For a Google-specific feature set, Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 are the premium choice supported by the specifications compared here; Pixel Buds 2a are the lower-priced Google-branded alternative. Both pair with Bluetooth 4.0 or newer devices, including iPhones, but Google says full feature access requires a Google Account, an Android 6.0-or-newer companion phone, and an internet connection.
Pixel Buds Pro 2 vs. Pixel Buds 2a
Google’s product pages list active noise cancellation (ANC) on both models. Pro 2 adds Transparency mode and Qi-certified wireless case charging; the 2a case charges by USB-C. The battery figures below are Google’s estimates with ANC on, not results from independent comparative testing.

Which Pixel Buds should you choose?
Choose Pixel Buds Pro 2 for the richer listed feature set
Pro 2 is the clearer fit if you want Google’s premium option, ANC, Transparency mode, and a case that supports Qi-certified wireless charging. Google lists up to 8 hours of listening on the earbuds and up to 30 hours total with the case when ANC is on. Those are Google’s specifications, not independently measured results.
#1 Best Overall
- Google Pixel Buds 2a deliver lightweight comfort, crisp audio, Active Noise Cancellation, and a dependable battery, all for less[1]
- Hear only what you want to hear; Google Tensor A1 powers Active Noise Cancellation with Silent Seal 1.5 to help block external noise; or switch to Transparency mode to hear the world around you while you listen
- Immerse yourself in clear, crisp audio with the 11 mm dynamic speaker driver, or customize the levels of bass, treble, and more with the 5-band equalizer
- Pixel Buds 2a are built for lightweight comfort and an impeccable fit; secure them during workouts or commutes with the twist-to-adjust stabilizer, or twist the other direction for relaxed comfort
- Hear and be heard with Clear Calling; it helps block background noise, so wind, external chatter, or other distractions in your environment won’t interrupt your conversations[2]
Choose Pixel Buds 2a for a lower-priced Google option
The 2a costs less at the US Google Store price displayed in the October 7, 2026 search results and still lists ANC. Its case charges over USB-C, and Google states up to 7 hours on the earbuds or up to 20 hours total with the case with ANC on. Consider it if those listed features suit you and Qi case charging is not a priority.
Do Pixel Buds work with non-Pixel phones or an iPhone?
Yes. Google says both models pair with Bluetooth 4.0-or-newer devices, including Android and iOS phones, tablets, and laptops. That means a Pixel phone is not required for basic Bluetooth pairing. Pairing should not be confused with access to the complete Google feature set: Google lists a Google Account, an Android 6.0-or-newer companion phone, and internet connection as requirements for full access. iPhone owners can pair the earbuds, but should not assume every Google-specific feature will be available through iOS.
Rank #2

Google’s product specifications describe compatibility and requirements; they do not establish identical feature availability across every phone or operating system. See the Pro 2 specifications and 2a specifications for the manufacturer’s details.
Check fit before judging comfort
Each model includes four ear-tip sizes. Try the included sizes to find a secure, comfortable fit; a poor seal can affect how the earbuds sit and how well passive isolation works. The listed tip options do not establish compatibility with any particular third-party replacement tips.

What these specifications can—and cannot—tell you
The official listings make it possible to compare price as shown in US Google Store search results, listed features, charging methods, and manufacturer-stated battery durations. They do not provide independent head-to-head results for sound quality, microphone performance, ANC effectiveness, comfort, or typical battery life. These two models are Google-branded options, not a comprehensive ranking of every earbud that may work with a Pixel or another Android phone.
