If your budget stops at $100, the AKASO V50 X is the under-$100 candidate in Action Camera Auditor’s September 1, 2026 price check, at $99.99—but several important specifications are not published on the manufacturer page that guide checked. If you can spend around $110, Digital Camera World names the AKASO Brave 4 Pro its best overall budget pick; its guide lists 4K/30fps, two screens and included housing and mounts. These are guide assessments and listed specifications, not hands-on tests for this article, and the cited prices are dated snapshots rather than live offers.
Which cheap action camera is the best fit?
“Cheap” covers more than one price bracket. The V50 X is the documented strict-under-$100 option; the Brave 4 Pro is the feature-balanced pick around that mark; and the Brave 7 LE costs more but has a clearer published feature set in the cited comparison. The EK7000 Pro is another low-cost 4K/30fps option, while the SJCAM SJ6 Pro is worth considering if a second screen for framing yourself matters.

What is the best action camera under $100?
Action Camera Auditor identifies the AKASO V50 X at $99.99 in its September 1, 2026 check as its only reviewed-brand camera at or below $100. That makes it the clearest listed candidate if the ceiling is firm, not an assurance that it is currently available at that price. The guide also notes that the manufacturer page it checked leaves out consequential details: sensor size, weight, battery figure, official waterproof rating, stabilization specification and maximum video resolution. If those details affect your planned use, do not assume them from an unrelated listing; seek a current model-specific specification or choose a camera with clearer documentation.

Can you get a good action camera for under $100?
You can find a plausible budget option, but “good” depends on the shot and the compromises you can accept. At this price, verify more than a 4K label: frame rate, stabilization, water protection, battery information, controls and what is actually in the box all affect whether the camera suits a particular trip or activity. The V50 X illustrates a practical issue: its cited price is specific, but the manufacturer-page specifications checked by the guide are incomplete.
How do the five cameras differ in practice?
AKASO Brave 4 Pro: balanced features near $100
Digital Camera World names the Brave 4 Pro its best overall budget action camera. The guide lists 4K at 30fps, 20MP stills, up to 90 minutes of recording per charge, two screens, and underwater housing and mounts in the package. Its deal panel showed $109.99 when accessed in 2026, although the guide characterizes the street price as around $100. Treat both descriptions as guide context, not a guaranteed offer. The same guide warns that the controls can be unintuitive.

The remote wristband is not waterproof.
AKASO V50 X: the documented sub-$100 choice
The main case for the V50 X in this shortlist is its dated $99.99 check. The key limitation is not a confirmed performance flaw but a lack of published information on the manufacturer page reviewed: several specifications needed to compare it confidently are absent. Before choosing it for water, long recording sessions or a specific mounting setup, confirm the current product revision’s specifications and included accessories.
AKASO EK7000 Pro: low-cost 4K with usability trade-offs
Digital Camera World lists 4K/30fps, 20MP stills, up to 90 minutes per charge and waterproofing to 40m when used with housing. Its review assessment is mixed: the guide calls stabilization temperamental and says its reviewer’s app did not work. It suggests Full HD at 60fps may produce the better-looking practical mode. That is the guide’s assessment, not a universal result for every scene or user.

SJCAM SJ6 Pro: useful when you need to see your framing
Digital Camera World presents the SJ6 Pro as a budget 4K option with twin screens and connectivity that includes app remote control. Those features may suit vlogging or recording yourself, where a front-facing display helps check composition. The cited guide does not establish a current price or give the exact frame rate here, so confirm the precise model and listing rather than assuming it fits a particular budget.
AKASO Brave 7 LE: a documented stretch-budget option
Action Camera Auditor’s September 1, 2026 comparison lists the Brave 7 LE at $139.99, with 4K30 video, 20MP stills, an IPX7-rated body and 40m waterproofing with the supplied case. Digital Camera World separately notes that the camera cannot record 4K at 60fps and needs its included housing for waterproofing beyond one metre. These water claims describe different conditions: the body rating is not the same as the case-assisted depth claim. Action Camera Auditor does not state sensor size, weight or battery figures in its comparison.

What should you check before buying?
- Match resolution to frame rate. A 4K label alone does not tell you the frame rate; the Brave 4 Pro and Brave 7 LE are listed at 4K/30, and Digital Camera World says the Brave 7 LE cannot do 4K/60.
- Read water claims by configuration. Distinguish a body rating from protection that depends on a fitted housing, and check the stated depth and conditions for the exact model.
- Check what comes in the box. Housing and mounts are listed for the Brave 4 Pro; confirm the selected listing’s package contents rather than assuming every bundle is identical.
- Consider daily usability. The cited guide flags unintuitive Brave 4 Pro controls and reports stabilization and app concerns for the EK7000 Pro.
- Price the complete setup. Include the camera, any required housing or mounts, compatible storage and any extras needed for your activity. The cited guides do not establish universal accessory compatibility.
- Check the purchase terms. Product revisions, stock, prices and included accessories can change; verify the exact model, current listing and return policy before ordering.
Is a GoPro under $100 worth it? Can I even find one?
The cited material does not establish whether a GoPro is available under $100, so it cannot support a yes-or-no answer about current stock or value. If you encounter one at that price, check whether it is new or used, its exact model and condition, and what accessories are included; those details determine whether it is comparable to the budget cameras above.
