The Galaxy S25 is a modest step up on the published headline specifications: its screen is 0.1 inch larger and its typical battery capacity is 100mAh higher than the Galaxy S23 5G. Samsung lists the same rear-camera resolutions for both. Those figures do not establish longer battery life or better photos, and there is no verified like-for-like current S23 price here to calculate a reliable price difference.
Galaxy S23 5G vs Galaxy S25: key specs
The figures below come from Samsung product specifications and launch materials. They describe stated specifications, not independent measurements; specifications and service details can vary by market or carrier.

| Specification | Galaxy S23 5G | Galaxy S25 |
|---|---|---|
| Display diagonal | 6.1 inches | 6.2 inches |
| Typical battery capacity | 3,900mAh | 4,000mAh |
| Rated minimum battery capacity | 3,785mAh | 3,885mAh |
| Rear camera resolutions | 50MP main, 10MP telephoto, 12MP ultrawide | 50MP wide, 10MP telephoto, 12MP ultrawide |
| Wired charging specification | 25W in Samsung’s US carrier specification sheet | 25W; Samsung says up to 50% in around 30 minutes with a 25W adapter and 3A USB-C cable |
Samsung measures screen diagonal across the full rectangle, so the rounded-corner viewable area is smaller. The S25 telephoto camera is specified with 3x optical zoom. Resolution figures alone do not show whether the cameras produce equally good photos: image processing, software and direct comparisons matter too.

Screen size: almost the same compact-phone footprint
The S25’s 6.2-inch diagonal is only 0.1 inch greater than the S23’s 6.1 inches. That is a small change on paper; it does not by itself establish a meaningful difference in overall phone size or comfort.

Battery capacity: a small increase, not a battery-life guarantee
The S25’s typical capacity is 4,000mAh versus 3,900mAh for the S23, a 100mAh difference. Rated minimum figures are distinct: Samsung’s launch materials state 3,885mAh for the S25 and 3,785mAh for the S23. Neither capacity comparison proves how long either phone lasts between charges; real-world endurance depends on use and other factors, and the figures are not a matched battery test.
Cameras: matching resolution numbers do not settle image quality
Samsung’s listed rear-camera resolution arrays match at 50MP, 10MP and 12MP. That is useful for comparing headline specifications, but it is not evidence of identical sensors, processing or results. The specifications support noting the S25’s 3x optical telephoto zoom, not claiming overall camera superiority.

Charging: check what is included
Both models have a stated 25W wired-charging specification in the cited materials. Samsung says the S25 can reach up to 50% in around 30 minutes with a 25W adapter and 3A USB-C cable under its stated conditions; this is not a matched comparison with the S23. Samsung US also says the S25 does not include a charger. If you need one, check that a 25W USB-C adapter and cable are compatible with the phone and confirm what a current listing includes.

A reliable current dollar difference cannot be stated without a comparable S23 offer. Compare phones with the same storage, condition and carrier-lock status, and include tax, shipping and any carrier obligations. Compare new with new, or used and refurbished devices in equivalent condition; check battery health, warranty and return terms as well. The S23’s original launch price is not a substitute for its current resale price.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which phone should you choose?
Choose the S25 if its current price works for you
- You want the newer model and value its slightly larger display and 100mAh higher typical capacity.
- You are buying new and can verify the current price, storage, return terms and whether the charger you need is included.
Consider keeping or buying an S23 if the value is stronger
- Your S23 is in good condition and its battery health meets your needs.
- You find an S23 substantially cheaper than a comparable S25. That saving may matter more than the modest screen and capacity differences, but judge it against the actual offers available to you.
For either choice, weigh the total price, storage, condition, carrier lock, battery health, software features you need, and warranty and return coverage. The published specifications do not establish a performance benchmark, battery-endurance result or camera-quality winner.
