Which Blender Should You Buy? Match a Pick to What You Make

The 2026 CNET-attributed roundup favors the Vitamix VX1 overall, but the best fit depends on batch size and whether you prioritize ice, smoothies, or dense blends.

The best blender depends on what you make and how much at once. In a 2026 roundup attributed to CNET, the Vitamix VX1 is the overall pick for dense blends such as nut butter and hummus; the Ninja BlendBoss is the personal-size choice; and the Ninja Professional BL610 is the standout among the listed picks for fast ice crushing. These are recommendations from that roundup, not a universal ranking. Its accessible copy is hosted by Daily News N Blog rather than CNET, so the test results below should be read with that attribution limitation in mind.

How the 2026 roundup tested blenders

The roundup says three CNET staff members tested 11 blenders in 2026. Its described tests included crushing ice, blending a green smoothie with frozen and fibrous ingredients, making almond butter from three cups of almonds, preparing hummus and hot recipes, and assessing noise. The ice test used four cups for full-size blenders and two cups for personal models. Noise readings were taken six inches from each blender in a quiet kitchen while it ran on high during the smoothie test. The article notes that smoothie smoothness has a subjective component.

Which blender should you choose?

Model Roundup’s category Capacity and stated power Best fit and main trade-off
Vitamix VX1 Best overall 64 ounces; 1,440 W / 2.2 HP, verified on the manufacturer’s product page Dense mixtures such as nut butter and hummus; ice performance was weaker in the roundup’s test.
Ninja BlendBoss Best personal blender 26-ounce travel tumbler; power not stated in the roundup Single servings and drinks on the go; not suited to large batches, soups, almond butter, or dips.
Ninja Twisti Best mid-size blender 34 ounces; 1,100 W Smoothies, nut paste, and ice in a smaller format; the roundup noted noise and some base movement at full speed.
NutriBullet Power Core XL Budget pick 72 ounces; 1,400 W Full-size blending at the roundup’s budget end; dense mixtures such as almond butter may need more help.
Breville Super Q Premium option 68-ounce container; 1,800 W; includes a 24-ounce blending cup Strong performance and a smaller-cup option, with a higher price.
Ninja Professional BL610 Full-size alternative 72-ounce jar; 1,000 W Fast ice crushing and good dense-ingredient results, with simpler features than premium alternatives.

Capacities, power figures, included accessories, and performance notes for models other than the VX1 come from the CNET-attributed roundup. It does not state a comparable power figure for the BlendBoss.

What the test results say about each pick

Vitamix VX1: strongest for nut butter and hummus

The roundup reports the VX1 finished its three-cup almond-butter test in 1 minute 13 seconds and its hummus test in 58 seconds, the fastest tested times for those tasks. Its ice run took 26 seconds and left several large cubes. For a green smoothie, the roundup reports 1 minute 26 seconds. It has variable speed, pulse, and self-cleaning; the roundup says it is not dishwasher-safe and reports a five-year motor-base warranty. Vitamix’s product page lists a 64-ounce container, 1,440 watts, 2.2 HP, variable speed, pulse, self-cleaning, and a five-year limited warranty. It also says the VX1 is compatible with Vitamix 48- and 64-ounce containers and the Personal Cup Adapter.

Ninja BlendBoss: best for one serving

The roundup describes a 26-ounce vessel that doubles as a travel tumbler, with Auto-iQ and smoothie and ice functions. It reports 13 seconds for the ice test with no chunks and 55 seconds for the green smoothie. Its compact single-serving format is the point: the roundup cautions against using it for larger batches, soups, almond butter, or dips.

Match the blender to what you make

For smoothies, frozen drinks, and ice

Consider both ingredient texture and batch size. The roundup reports the BL610 crushed the test ice fastest among the listed picks, while the BlendBoss also left no chunks in its smaller personal-model test. The VX1 took longer and left several large cubes. For green smoothies, reported times ranged from 55 seconds for the BlendBoss to 1 minute 26 seconds for the VX1; the roundup cautions that smoothness is partly subjective, so speed alone does not establish the best texture for every recipe.

For nut butter, hummus, and other dense blends

The VX1 has the strongest specific result in the roundup for almond butter and hummus. The Twisti is described as effective for nut paste, and the BL610 as capable with dense ingredients. The Power Core XL needed more assistance for almond butter and denser mixtures. The roundup does not recommend the BlendBoss for these jobs.

For single servings versus family-size batches

Choose capacity before comparing features. The BlendBoss’s 26-ounce tumbler is designed around an individual serving; the Twisti sits between personal and full-size formats at 34 ounces. The other listed pitchers or containers range from 64 to 72 ounces. A larger vessel can better suit batches, but takes more counter or storage space; the roundup does not provide comparable footprint measurements.

For soups, dips, and occasional use

The roundup warns against using the BlendBoss for soups or dips and identifies the VX1 as a strong performer for hummus. It does not supply comparable results for every listed model across every hot recipe or dip, so those tasks cannot be ranked reliably from the published figures. If you blend only occasional smoothies, the roundup advises weighing whether premium features justify the added cost; frequent ice crushing, dry-ingredient grinding, or batter mixing may make a more capable full-size model worth considering.

Features and ownership details to weigh

  • Controls: The VX1 offers variable speed and pulse. The BlendBoss adds Auto-iQ and dedicated smoothie and ice functions. These approaches favor hands-on adjustment and programmed convenience, respectively.
  • Cleaning: The VX1 has a self-cleaning function, but the roundup says it is not dishwasher-safe. It does not provide an equivalent cleaning comparison for all models.
  • Useful accessories: The VX1 includes a tamper; the BlendBoss vessel converts to a travel tumbler; the Twisti has an integrated twisting tamper and an optional 18-ounce to-go cup; the Super Q includes a 24-ounce blending cup.
  • Noise and stability: The roundup measured noise during its smoothie test, but the accessible information does not give comparable readings for each model. It specifically notes noise and some base movement at full speed for the Twisti.
  • Warranty: Vitamix’s product page lists a five-year limited warranty for the VX1. The roundup reports a five-year motor-base warranty. The accessible information does not establish comparable warranty terms for the other models.

Prices and source limits

Prices can change, and the two cited VX1 sources showed different figures: the roundup said $380, while Vitamix’s product page displayed $329.95 when accessed in 2026. Neither should be treated as a current quote without checking the seller’s live listing. The roundup’s prices for the other models are likewise not reliable buying quotes. Its recommendations and test observations are useful as a starting point, but the third-party mirror means readers should distinguish the roundup’s reported results from specifications verified on the manufacturer’s VX1 page.
