You can send projector audio to a Bluetooth speaker only when the projector supports Bluetooth audio output for the source you’re watching. Pair the speaker in the projector’s Bluetooth or sound-output settings, then select it as the audio output. A Bluetooth menu alone does not guarantee that HDMI audio can be sent wirelessly: support depends on the projector model and source.
Check whether your projector can send the audio you want
Look in the manual for your exact projector model for Bluetooth audio output and confirm it works with your intended source, such as an HDMI streaming stick. Bluetooth support for a remote, keyboard, or other accessory does not necessarily mean the projector can transmit sound to a speaker.

Source routing varies by model. Philips says the PicoPix Max can stream audio from its internal apps or media player to a Bluetooth device, but not from HDMI or USB-C. By contrast, Epson documents Bluetooth output from HDMI, LAN, or SD sources on selected models, subject to A2DP and SCMS-T support. Those are model-specific capabilities, not a general rule for all projectors. See the Philips PicoPix Max Bluetooth instructions and Epson’s Bluetooth audio guide for selected models.

- Put the speaker in pairing mode. Use the speaker’s own instructions; some speakers leave pairing mode after a short time.
- Open the projector’s Bluetooth or audio-output settings. Menu labels differ by model and operating system; look for Bluetooth, Remotes & Accessories, Sound Out, or a similar option.
- Scan for devices and select the speaker. Accept any pairing prompt shown on the projector.
- Set the projector’s sound output to the speaker. If it remains set to Internal Speaker, the devices can be paired without any sound coming through the Bluetooth speaker.
- Check volume and mute settings. Make sure neither the projector nor the speaker is muted, and raise the volume on both if needed.
For the PicoPix Max, Philips gives the path Settings → Projector Settings → Bluetooth: enable Bluetooth, then select the speaker from the device list. Philips says the projector reconnects to the last connected speaker when that speaker is turned on. LG’s newer webOS path is Settings → All Settings → Sound → Sound Out → Use Wireless Speaker → Bluetooth Device; older webOS versions use a different path. Follow the manual for your projector’s exact model and software version. LG’s projector Bluetooth audio instructions describe its model-specific menu.

Choose a wired fallback if Bluetooth is unsupported
If your projector cannot send audio from the source you’re using, check its audio-output ports and match them to an input on the speaker or soundbar. The available options depend on the ports on both devices.
| Connection | When it works | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Projector Bluetooth output | The projector supports Bluetooth audio output for your source. | Pairing may not select the sound output automatically; Bluetooth can introduce delay, and supported devices vary by model. |
| 3.5 mm audio out to analog speaker input | The projector and speaker have compatible analog ports. | Use a stereo cable and select the appropriate projector output if required. |
| 3.5 mm audio out to Bluetooth transmitter | The projector has analog audio out, and the speaker accepts Bluetooth audio. | Confirm the transmitter has the right input, can pair with your speaker, and has a suitable power arrangement. Check latency information for the specific devices; there is no universal guarantee of delay-free audio. |
| Optical/S/PDIF | The projector has an optical output and the speaker has a compatible optical input. | Confirm the ports and audio-output settings on both devices. |
| HDMI ARC | The projector and speaker both support compatible ARC connections. | Use the HDMI port that supports ARC and check the audio settings. Not every HDMI port supports ARC. |
Some projectors have 3.5 mm audio out or S/PDIF, while others may offer Bluetooth; these options are model-dependent. ViewSonic’s external-speaker connection guidance covers ports on equipped models. Philips also describes connecting its projector’s speaker/headphone output to an external speaker’s analog input in its external-speaker and headphone instructions.

Fix common connection problems
The speaker is paired, but there is no sound
- Set Sound Out or the audio-output setting to the Bluetooth speaker rather than the projector’s internal speaker.
- Check mute and volume on both devices.
- Disconnect and reconnect the speaker, then try selecting it again as the output.
- If you are watching from HDMI or USB-C, check whether your model routes audio from that source to Bluetooth.
The speaker does not appear in the device list
- Confirm the speaker is in pairing or discovery mode.
- Move it near the projector while pairing.
- Disconnect it from a phone or another host if it is already paired there, then scan again.
- Follow the speaker’s instructions for clearing or restarting pairing if it still does not appear.
Audio drops or becomes unstable
LG lists distance, obstacles, nearby radio interference, a speaker paired to another device, low battery, and temporary software issues as possible causes. LG’s support guidance says separation beyond 32 ft (10 m) can be one potential cause; this is troubleshooting advice for LG projectors, not a universal Bluetooth range guarantee. Try moving the devices closer, removing obstacles, charging the speaker, and disconnecting competing devices. See LG’s troubleshooting guidance.

Sound does not sync with the picture
Bluetooth audio can be delayed, and the manufacturer guidance cited here gives no universal delay figure. If the mismatch is distracting, try a wired connection supported by your projector and speaker. Do not assume a particular codec or transmitter will eliminate delay unless its documentation confirms that for your specific devices.

There is no Bluetooth sound from an HDMI source
Check the manual’s source-routing information before replacing or resetting equipment. The PicoPix Max, for example, does not send HDMI or USB-C audio to Bluetooth, while Epson documents that function on selected models with stated compatibility conditions. A projector’s Bluetooth pairing feature by itself does not establish that it can transmit audio from every input.

Manufacturer instructions are model-specific. Epson’s guide for selected projectors lists A2DP and SCMS-T support as conditions for Bluetooth audio functions; check the documentation for your model rather than assuming those terms describe every projector or speaker. Epson also has a separate Bluetooth-device connection guide for selected models. TCL likewise provides model-specific external-speaker guidance.
