The location in one map hierarchy
The easiest way to place North Fort Law is to read the map from largest area to smallest landmark:

How to find it on the original GTA map
- Start with Liberty City. Use the original game’s regions-and-districts map rather than looking for a modern GTA location. North Fort Law belongs to the Liberty City map used by the first Grand Theft Auto.
- Identify New Guernsey. Fort Law is listed under New Guernsey. This regional label is the key search step: once New Guernsey is visible, you are looking in the correct part of Liberty City.
- Find the Fort Law district label. Fort Law is a district inside New Guernsey. Do not treat “Fort Law” as the name of the entire region; New Guernsey is the larger regional heading.
- Zoom in to Fort Law’s internal landmarks. The base is positioned between two useful references. Fort Law Park is to its west, while Fort Law Subway Station is to its east.
- Place the base between those references. If the map is oriented with north at the top, read the installation as the area east of Fort Law Park and west of Fort Law Subway Station. Those two landmarks are more reliable for the final approach than the base name alone.
This method works whether you are reading a full Liberty City map or a downloadable regions-and-districts view: broad region first, district second, nearby landmarks last.

Where Fort Law sits within New Guernsey
Fort Law is identified as a New Guernsey district and is described as being based on Fort Lee, New Jersey. The district’s listed neighboring areas help confirm that you have reached the right portion of the map.

The published district description lists both “water and Island Heights” and Guernsey City on the east. That wording gives you neighboring map labels, but it should not be read as a surveyed boundary or a precise coordinate. For locating the base itself, the internal Park–Subway Station relationship is the more useful reference.
The two landmarks that pinpoint the base
Fort Law Park is west of the base
Fort Law Park provides the western reference. When you find the park on a detailed Fort Law map, move east from it to reach the North Fort Law Military Base. The relationship is directional; the available location description does not provide a distance, entrance, street number or coordinate.

Fort Law Subway Station is east of the base
Fort Law Subway Station provides the eastern reference. From the station, the base lies west. Reading both landmarks together prevents a common mistake: stopping at the station and assuming the station label is the military base, or stopping at the park and searching on its western side.
Use the pair, not a guessed scale
No published distance or map scale is established for North Fort Law in the available location descriptions. The safest interpretation is relational: the base occupies the area between Fort Law Park on the west and Fort Law Subway Station on the east. Avoid converting that relationship into an invented number of blocks, streets or map pixels.
What “North Fort Law” means
The full name used for the location is North Fort Law Military Base. “North Fort Law” is not another region of Liberty City and does not replace the district name. In the map hierarchy, it functions as a landmark within Fort Law.

- New Guernsey is the larger Liberty City region.
- Fort Law is the district inside New Guernsey.
- North Fort Law Military Base is the military installation inside that district.
This distinction matters when using maps that label only regions and districts. A regional map may show New Guernsey and Fort Law without printing the complete military-base label. In that case, use the district map or a detailed landmark reference and apply the park-and-station orientation.
Common map-reading mistakes
Searching for a separate state or city
North Fort Law is sometimes phrased as though it were a place comparable to Liberty City or New Guernsey. It is not. Searching the entire game map for a city, state or region named North Fort Law will put you at the wrong map level.
Stopping at New Guernsey
Finding New Guernsey confirms the region but does not identify the base. Continue to the Fort Law district label before using the internal landmarks.

Confusing Fort Law with Fort Lee
Fort Law is the in-game district name. Its stated real-world basis is Fort Lee, New Jersey, but the map location you need is the fictional Liberty City district called Fort Law. Use “Fort Lee” as background context, not as a second in-game destination.
Reversing the landmark directions
The military base is west of Fort Law Subway Station and east of Fort Law Park. Reversing either direction sends you away from the installation. A quick check is to imagine the order from west to east as: Fort Law Park → North Fort Law Military Base → Fort Law Subway Station.
Expecting a numerical coordinate
The location descriptions establish district membership and neighboring landmarks, not latitude-longitude coordinates, a street address or a measured distance. A map that displays only a broad region may not have enough detail to show the base label directly.

Use this checklist when a scan, guide or downloadable map has different labeling or resolution:
- Confirm that the map is for the original Grand Theft Auto Liberty City rather than a later game’s Liberty City.
- Locate the New Guernsey region.
- Verify that Fort Law appears as a district within New Guernsey.
- Check the surrounding district names: Hackenslash and Eaglewood are listed to the north, Schlechberg to the south, and water, Island Heights and Guernsey City are listed on the eastern side.
- Switch to a detailed view if North Fort Law is not labeled at the regional level.
- Find Fort Law Park and Fort Law Subway Station.
- Place the military base east of the park and west of the station.
If all seven checks line up, you have identified the intended location even if the map uses a shortened label such as “North Fort Law” instead of the full “North Fort Law Military Base.”
Why the district hierarchy is the best answer
Location questions about the original GTA map can be difficult because the game’s Liberty City is organized into regions, districts and named landmarks. A broad map answers “where in the city?” while a detailed map answers “which landmark?” North Fort Law requires both levels. New Guernsey narrows the search to the correct region; Fort Law identifies the district; Fort Law Park and Fort Law Subway Station provide the final left-right placement.
That hierarchy also explains why different map references can appear to disagree. One reference may stop at New Guernsey, another may label Fort Law, and a third may show the military base. They are describing different zoom levels of the same location rather than three separate places.
Source identification
The district description in Grand Theft Wiki identifies Fort Law as a New Guernsey district in Grand Theft Auto 1 and notes its basis in Fort Lee, New Jersey. The GTA Wiki entry for North Fort Law Military Base identifies the installation as being in Fort Law, New Guernsey, and places it west of Fort Law Subway Station and east of Fort Law Park. Together, those descriptions establish the complete map path: Liberty City → New Guernsey → Fort Law → North Fort Law Military Base.
